Jetour T2 i-DM: Driving Qatar Into a Hybrid Future

Qatar Living03-06-2025
Jetour is already a well-known name among drivers in Qatar, especially thanks to the success of models like the T2 petrol version, which has become a local hit. And just this week, Jetour and Al Waha signed a five-year partnership — a milestone, as no Chinese automaker has entered such a long-term collaboration in Qatar before. This agreement reflects strong mutual trust and commitment, further strengthening Jetour's presence in the local market.
Whether you're a family wanting extra space and comfort for everyday life or someone looking for a car that's ready when you need a break from the city, Jetour's lineup gives you more than just a way to get around — it's about making every drive feel easier, more enjoyable, and more confident.
And now, with hybrid models like the T2 i-DM, Jetour Qatar is moving forward with purpose, bringing eco-friendly technology to local drivers who want the perfect balance between performance and everyday practicality. To see why that matters, let's take a closer look at what hybrid technology brings to daily life on the road. The Bigger Picture: Why Hybrid Technology Matters
Hybrid cars aren't just some flashy new invention or a passing trend — they're quietly changing how we approach everyday driving. By combining electric power with a petrol engine, they offer the best of both worlds: smooth, quiet drives for your daily routine and reliable petrol performance when you're heading out on longer journeys or tackling more demanding roads.
In Qatar, this mix really pays off. Electric mode is perfect for short city trips, like commuting to work or school, while the petrol engine gives you the freedom to head out of town for the weekend without worrying about range or finding a charging point.
Just as importantly, hybrids help you use less fuel and cut down on emissions, making it easier to choose a more eco-friendly way of driving, without sacrificing the comfort or flexibility you're used to. As more people in Qatar start paying attention to sustainability and smarter driving choices, hybrids are a practical, everyday solution — not just for the future, but for right now. What Makes the Jetour T2 i-DM Special
So, what makes the Jetour T2 i-DM stand out? As the flagship hybrid in Jetour's lineup, it is more than just another SUV; it is designed to handle everything from daily commutes to exciting new experiences.
The T2 i-DM can travel up to 139 kilometers on electricity alone when its battery is fully charged. That's plenty for most daily drives in and around Doha, letting you skip the petrol pump completely. Of course, your actual range will vary depending on how you drive, the road, and whether the A/C is blasting, but the ability to recharge at home or public stations gives you great flexibility.
If you're planning a longer journey, the T2 i-DM has you covered, offering over 1,000 km of combined electric and petrol range. Whether you're driving to Al Khor, heading to the Inland Sea, or exploring Qatar's countryside, you can relax and enjoy the road without worrying about frequent fuel stops.
Fuel efficiency is where this hybrid really shines. With a rating of just 0.8L per 100 km (NEDC), it's among the most economical SUVs in its category, helping you cut back on fuel costs while also lowering your environmental impact.
But it's not just about numbers. Jetour has built the T2 i-DM to handle Qatar's tough climate and terrain. The battery system is heat-resistant, waterproof, and tough enough for water crossings up to 70 cm deep. Whether you're sticking to city streets or heading off-road, this SUV is ready.
Inside the car, you'll find a spacious, comfortable cabin that's designed for both families and adventure seekers. Handy features like parking air conditioning (which keeps the cabin cool while the car is parked) and a 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load system mean you can power up camping gear, lights, or even small appliances when you're out and about. It's a car that fits your lifestyle — whether you're in the middle of the city or out under the desert stars.
But here's the truth: no words can replace the feeling of sitting behind the wheel yourself. Book a test drive with Jetour Qatar and experience firsthand how the T2 i-DM combines comfort, smart technology, and driving confidence.

Lutnick: TikTok will go dark unless China agrees to US control

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick warned Thursday that TikTok will go dark unless China agrees to a deal in which American owners take control of the popular social media app and its algorithm. 'It's got to come out of Chinese control,' Lutnick told CNBC's 'Squawk on the Street.' 'We've made the decision. You can't have Chinese control and have something on a hundred million American phones. That's just not okay.' 'So, if it's in American control, China can have a little piece, or ByteDance, the current owner, can keep a little piece,' he continued. 'But basically Americans will have control, Americans will own the technology and Americans will control the algorithm.' TikTok has remained online for the past seven months despite a law requiring its parent company ByteDance to divest from the app or face a U.S. ban. The law, passed by Congress last year, was meant to go into effect the day before President Trump took office. However, former President Biden declined to enforce the law in his final days in office, and Trump quickly followed this up with an executive order delaying enforcement. He has since given TikTok two more extensions, as he attempts to strike a deal to keep the app available. The next deadline is set for Sept. 17. Trump said late last month that he had found a buyer for the app, which he described as 'very, very wealthy people.' However, he underscored the deal would likely require the approval of the Chinese government. 'If that deal gets approved by the Chinese, then that deal will happen,' Lutnick added Thursday. 'If they don't approve it, then TikTok is going to go dark. And those decisions are coming very soon. …. The deal is over to them right now.' The Trump administration had previously finalized a deal on TikTok in April, but the effort was scuttled by the announcement of the president's 'reciprocal' tariff regime, which targeted China and other countries with hefty new import taxes.

Soft power delivers big returns, but Trump is slashing it anyway

Studies in many countries show that spending on diplomacy, cultural engagement, and humanitarian relief generates a huge economic return on investment —at least six times greater than the dollars invested. Advertisement The European Union's Creative Europe program produced three to four times the amount invested in cultural diplomacy. Advertisement The United States has not measured its soft power directly, but there is no doubt that it boosts its image by providing humanitarian and disaster aid. In 2003, the United States spent $400 million to help Indonesia recover from the massive tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Public approval of the United States in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country, Today, the United States is turning away from such opportunities. What may look like savings through layoffs and grant rescissions will in fact cost billions in lost trade, weakened alliances, and diminished global influence. In nearly every other policy domain — whether approving a medicine, a public safety regulation, or building new infrastructure — government decisions are informed by cost-benefit analysis. No such analysis has been performed here. If cost-benefit thinking were applied to soft power, it would be clear that the benefits of soft power far outweigh the costs. Advertisement The concept is well understood in the private sector. Businesses spend heavily to acquire 'goodwill' — brand value, reputation, and customer trust. Such intangible assets drive future profits and provide protection against commercial competitors. Governments should treat soft power the same way: as a hedge that reduces economic and military conflict. When nations trust America and see us as a partner rather than a threat, they are far less likely to take hostile actions that would require costly military responses. Soft power investments provide a double dividend that pays off in both economic gains and reduced defense spending. The full value of America's global engagement may only become evident once it is withdrawn. The Trump administration is working hard to achieve this end. The Trump administration has laid off government scientists, educators, and health experts, including last week's As the United States slashes its soft power budget,China is scaling up. The Chinese Belt and Road Initiative has committed more than $1 trillion in infrastructure spending. Chinese-funded rail projects in Malaysia, Advertisement The dollar 'savings' that Thune crowed about amount to less than the cost of a single F-35 fighter jet. But a fighter jet can't help refugees, teach Afghan girls to read, or persuade African leaders to choose American over Chinese technology. As Nye pointed out, soft power is easy to squander and difficult to recover. The cuts, combined with the Trump administration's sustained assault on the nation's leading universities, represent a colossal soft power miscalculation. They will cost America global influence that no amount of military spending can replace.
