The Roots, Soccer Mommy, and More Lead 2025 SummerStage Concerts Across NYC
According to a press release, this 39th season will feature a lengthy list of 'stars, taste-makers, and artists whose work defines our culture.' The event promises to showcase 'everything from salsa, jazz, hip-hop, indie-rock, dance, opera, pop, and soul,' while celebrating 'the diversity of our City, presenting emerging and well-known artists, genre-defining talents, powerhouse women, and international heavyweights.'

'I am thrilled to announce our 2025 SummerStage lineup, a stellar reflection of what makes our festival so unique and beloved,' said Heather Lubov, Executive Director of City Parks Foundation, in a statement. 'The huge variety of artists we're presenting and the parks where we're located reflect our city's demographic and cultural diversity, but they also serve to unite us as neighbors and as lovers of music, regardless of our differences.'
Neighborhood parks hosting SummerStage this year include Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, Tompkins Square Park in the East Village, Herbert Von King Park and The Coney Island Amphitheater in Brooklyn, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, St. Mary's Park and Crotona Park in the Bronx, Stapleton Waterfront Park on Staten Island, and SummerStage's flagship venue Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. While there will be ticketed benefit concerts in Central Park, the rest of the performances will be free and open to the public.

Tickets to more than 1,000 amphitheater shows are a little more affordable this summer. The Live Nation $30 Ticket to Summer encompasses concerts including Def Leppard, Shania Twain, Wiz Khalifa, Keith Urban, Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper, Avril Lavigne, Kesha, Halsey, Earth, Wind and Fire and others, but the promotion is ending soon. Tyler, the Creator releases new album, 'Don't Tap the Glass'
Tyler, the Creator has been busy. The Los Angeles rapper early Monday released 'Don't Tap the Glass,' his second LP to drop in less than nine months. The new 10-track project closely follows 'Chromakopia,' which came out in October, just before Tyler's annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival at Dodger Stadium, where he performed songs from the album including 'Noid' and 'Sticky' and welcomed cameos by Sexyy Red, Doechii and ScHoolboy Q. In February, Tyler set out on a world tour behind 'Chromakopia' that touched down for a six-night stay at Arena and stopped last week in New York for shows at Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center. According to album credits on Apple Music, 'Don't Tap the Glass' — which features no officially billed guest appearances — was produced by Tyler himself; the album has a funky, club-geared sound full of old-school stylistic touches. In a post on X, Tyler said the LP grew out of a conversation he had with friends about why they don't dance in public. His friends, he said, blamed 'the fear of being filmed.' He added: 'I thought damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost. It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme.' 'This album was not made for sitting still,' Tyler wrote.
