According to a report, the match consisted of two 10-minute halves with humanoid robots fighting in a 3 vs. 3 match while sporting purple and black jerseys. Pre-installed algorithms controlled the robots' moves during this match.
The event was designed to demonstrate balance, agility, and AI-based decision-making rather than testing fast-paced action. The article claims that after scoring, the robots even lifted their hands. The AI robot match organizers told the news agency AP that one of the main features of the competition was that each robot used AI-driven tactics to work completely on its own without any assistance or oversight from humans.
The robots, which were equipped with sophisticated vision sensors, could locate the ball and travel about the field quickly. Although some still required workers to carry them off the field on stretchers throughout the game, they were designed to get back up on their own after falling, which gave the event a more genuine feel, according to the organizers.
According to the report, Booster Robotics provided these robots. According to Cheng Hao, the CEO of the business, sporting events offer a realistic setting for testing humanoid robots, fostering advancements in algorithms and hardware-software integration.

Alibaba has launched a new AI image generation model called Qwen-VLo that is said to have the ability to understand context and generate images based on that understanding. 'Today, we are excited to introduce a new model, Qwen VLo, a unified multimodal understanding and generation model. This newly upgraded model not only 'understands' the world but also generates high-quality recreations based on that understanding, truly bridging the gap between perception and creation,' the company said in a blog post published on June 26. Unlike previous Alibaba models such as Qwen-VL, Qwen-VLo can offer the user more detailed images with significantly more accuracy. While previous models altered unrelated details within the image when the user requested only minor changes (such as colour), Qwen-VLo is able to preserve the original structure of the image and make the requested changes to it, as per the e-commerce giant. The model is also able to understand open-ended requests, such as artistic style, weather changes, or even making the image bear resemblance to a specific time period. Alibaba also announced that the model would support multiple languages besides Chinese and English. One of the model's notable features is Multiple Image Input. The model takes existing images provided by the user, alters the text within them, and is even able to manipulate them to become part of the generated image. For instance, in an example given by the company, the user provided images of individual bathing products and a basket, then asked Qwen-VLo to put the products into the basket. However, this feature has not been officially rolled out within the model yet. Qwen-VLo makes use of dynamic resolution training, allowing the user to re-size their images as per required dimensions, including 1:1, 3:4, and 16:9. The model also uses a progressive top-to-bottom, left-to-right generation process, which helps in tasks requiring fine control. However, in its blog post, the company has said that the model is still in the preview stage and users could encounter errors such as inconsistency and non-compliance. The company further theorised that its AI models could be capable of conveying ideas and meanings through the images it creates in the future. Alibaba also proposed model generating segmentation/ detection maps to further improve the performance of Qwen-VLo. Widely known for its e-commerce business in China, Alibaba has thrown its hat into the AI race. The company's CEO, Eddie Wu, even said that Alibaba is now fully focused on AI model development and aims to build AI systems with human-level intellectual capabilities. In 2008, as China stood on the cusp of transforming from a manufacturing-led economy to a knowledge-driven one, the Chinese Communist Party launched one of the most ambitious talent recruitment strategies in modern history. They called it the Thousand Talents Plan (TTP).Initially, it aimed to be a conventional effort to bring back the diaspora, but the layers of this programme reveal a bold, controversial, and yet a highly calculated attempt by Beijing to close the innovation gap with the TTP, despite the controversies, is acknowledged as a successful, not always transparent, experiment in long-term strategic planning. Academics say it has reshaped the career calculus for many top-tier scientists and brought China significantly closer to the innovation ORIGIN: BRAIN GAIN V/S BRAIN DRAIN For decades, China's best minds left home in search of better research opportunities, freer academic environments, and their own career growth. They travelled mostly to the United States, which became the de facto talent magnet of the modern world. This 'brain drain' persisted well into the early 2000s, even as China's economic and technological capacities began to rise was then that China felt a need to reverse this trend. In strategic sectors like semiconductors, aerospace, and 5G, China moved from follower to contender 2017, China overtook the U.S. in terms of the number of research papers published in natural sciences. This was said to be due to the cumulative impact of initiatives like FALLOUTAlthough China said the TTP was a benign recruitment effort, Western intelligence agencies, especially in the U.S., raised FBI claimed the programme 'encouraged theft of intellectual property and sensitive technology,' positioning the TTP as part of a broader strategy to erode America's scientific and economic edge. Indian Women's Hockey team lose 2-3 to China

Berlin, June 30 (UNI) Indian Women's Hockey Team ended their FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25 campaign with a 2-3 loss against China here. Though it was an inspired performance by India on Sunday, it was simply not enough to get the better of China. It was goals by Ying Zhang (19', 30') and Xu Wenyu (53') that helped China win while Sunelita Toppo (9') and Rujuta Dadaso Pisal (38') scored for India. This was the last match of the season with Netherlands finishing on top, Argentina finishing second and Belgium finishing third in the league while China have finished fourth in the points table. India sadly, have finished last and will be relegated and will need to play the FIH Nations Cup to earn their place again in the prestigious FIH Pro League. Though it was China who got on to a good start with an early PC, India made headway in the 9th minute when a pass from Neha Goyal to Sunelita Toppo led to a fine goal. The youngster from Odisha picked up the pass well, runs up wide to create space and got a clear shot on goal. Two minutes later, China threatened to equalise when they won a PC but India defended well. It didn't take too long for China to find an equaliser. In the 18th minute, China won a PC - though there was no goal from this attempt, Deng Qiuchan was hit on the face by Indian defender Manisha Chauhan while she was trying to clear the ball. Quichan had to be taken off the field, and the on-field umpire handed China a penalty stroke which was appealed by India. The video umpire did uphold India's review and awarded a PC to China, which they promptly converted through Ying Zhang. Building momentum in their attack, China fetched another PC towards the end of the second quarter. Zhang was spot-on yet again as she added another goal to her name, ensuring China were in lead. India had their chance to equalise in the 37th minute when they won their first PC of the game. While the first PC was blocked by the Chinese defenders, there was a back stick. Though the on-field umpire missed it, India took a successful referral and were awarded another PC. This time, Navneet Kaur took the shot and tried a fantastic variation. The experienced Kaur passed the ball to Rujuta who was standing on the right flank. She got a perfect deflection to level the score. India showcased an inspired performance today, put pressure on China, creating potential chances in the circle and even found success. China, meanwhile, began the final quarter with a PC after a back stick foul by India. This one was well-defended by Bichu Devi, India's goalie. Bichu was kept busy in the following minutes as China won two more PCs but Devi was on par with her saves. A relentless China ended up finding success in the 53rd minute when Xu Wenyu converted this one through a PC. India giving away soft PCs has been a concern in both the matches against China. The 3-2 lead put China in a good position to finish well. "This Pro League we played attacking hockey. We need to continue to build on it.
