Etihad Airways joins IATA's Turbulence Aware Programme

Trade Arabia23-04-2025
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has become the latest airline to join IATA's Turbulence Aware programme.
Turbulence Aware collates anonymised data about turbulence from flights operated by participating airlines. This real-time, accurate reporting in turn helps pilots and flight dispatchers minimise the effects of turbulence and plot the smoothest and most efficient flight paths.
Etihad will deploy the platform across its entire fleet of almost 100 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, which will automatically share reports with IATA's programme.
The industry-wide programme will benefit from Etihad's vast and growing network, which will provide broader flight data coverage, both in the region and across the five continents where Etihad flies. The quality of the data continues to improve as more airlines join the programme.
Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Interim Chief Operations and Guest Officer at Etihad Airways, said: 'As part of our commitment to safety, we are pleased to join IATA's Turbulence Aware programme and leverage our extensive network and fleet to support the industry in effectively managing turbulence. With real-time, accurate data, pilots can effectively navigate turbulence resulting in smoother journeys.'

KlasJet secures IATA membership after demonstrating global safety standards

25th June 2025: A premium private jet charter company KlasJet, part of the world's largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider Avia Solutions Group, has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as an official member. This membership proves that the company meets the highest global aviation safety, quality, and operational management standards, establishing KlasJet among world-class private airlines and strengthening its reputation with clients, regulators, and business partners. To become an IATA member, KlasJet had to meet several mandatory requirements, including passing the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). Conducted by accredited IATA auditors, this audit examined the airline's flight operations, technical maintenance systems, passenger and baggage handling, risk management and other critical areas of operations. 'Joining IATA is a significant milestone for our airline,' says Indre Liveikyte, Compliance Monitoring Manager at KlasJet. 'It is a quality and safety mark recognized by airports, regulatory institutions, and business partners worldwide. This membership demonstrates that KlasJet is not only a safe and reliable company, but also an innovative, world-class player ready to operate in a competitive, strictly regulated environment.' KlasJet employs a structured and continuously improving management system, encompassing regular internal audits and inspections, periodic mandatory employee training, and operational process reviews. All levels – from flight operations to ground services and training centers – function as an integrated system that helps the company not only respond to but proactively manage compliance issues. According to Liveikyte, KlasJet understands that IATA standards compliance is not a one-time project but an ongoing commitment: 'Our Compliance and Safety departments actively collaborate with other divisions to ensure that safety is integrated into every operational decision, not just treated as a formal procedure. We have already set a date for the IOSA registration renewal audit, as well as for internal audits to verify consistent compliance. We strive to implement compliance daily through control, training, and clear accountability.' As an official IATA member, KlasJet plans to actively use key IATA resources and tools to strengthen its competencies and efficiency. These include IATA-offered employee training, the IOSA Standards System, statistics and analytical data, and IATA Safety Connect platforms for sharing safety insights with other airlines and accessing current industry best practices. According to Liveikyte, achieving IATA membership is ultimately a reflection of the KlasJet team's extraordinary commitment and daily dedication: 'Operating as both an ACMI carrier and VIP charter operator means our teams must seamlessly navigate two very different operational worlds, and this requires our people to consistently go that extra step. Our employees demonstrate great commitment to excellence, shared pursuit of our common goals, and strong focus on safety and professionalism. IATA membership acknowledges not only our operational achievements but the remarkable efforts of every team member who has elevated KlasJet to this new level of international recognition and reliability.'
