Former Premier League star, 39, buys crisis club that he manages just weeks after they were demoted THREE divisions
The crisis club were demoted three divisions following relegation from the National League North last season.

Stockdale, who made 39 Prem appearances for Fulham, was unable to change the clubs fortunes as Farsley picked up just five wins from 46 matches.
The former keeper took charge in February and has now completed a takeover of the club with his family, buying out controversial owner Paul Barthorpe.
A club statement read: "The club can confirm that the Stockdale family has agreed with the major shareholders to acquire 100% of FC 2010 (Holdings) Ltd.
"The formal completion of the purchase is subject to final legal technicalities.
"The club will provide further updates in due course."
Stockdale, 39, has a rebuild on his hands with Farsely Celtic set to compete in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division - step nine.
The Celts were denied an FA licence for steps one to four of non-league, and were homeless for the last campaign.
A problem installing an artificial pitch at their ground Throstle Nest meant Celtic had to play 70 miles away in Buxton, Derbyshire.
Fan protest followed with many unhappy at Barthorpe's stewardship of the club.
He departed midway through the season after receiving death threats and being physically attacked.
Fans, who have boycotted matches, accused ex-owner Barthorpe of trying to 'ruin' the club and believe he is more interested in trying to sell their home stadium to housing developers.
He denied those claims and accused supporters of damaging his property.
A statement in January read: "People saying I don't care, I'm destroying the club, I'm not investing in the club, I have ulterior motives which clearly could not be further from the truth!
"This has been my life for almost six years and anyone who owns a business and commits everything to it knows the unconditional love you have for it!
"If my motivation was to run it into the ground I wouldn't have kept investing to the levels I have on a weekly basis."
Barthorpe added: 'There have been accusations of a lack of information being shared and a lack of clarity.
"The truth is I have had a number of death threats hand delivered to my home address, I have been physically attacked, I've had my car damaged three times, my car tyres slashed, items thrown at my house.
"And a number of other incidents that have happened directly after club posts or directly after other posts that are damaging and critical and as usual shared across multiple social media sites.
"All of this is currently under investigation and we have been therefore advised to keep our posts to a minimum, so as not to escalate these incidents.
"We are also conscious of sharing any issues or problems we may be encountering, as these get weaponised and used against us repeatedly on social media."

Teacher banned from the classroom for life after sexual relationship with pupil
A veteran teacher once described as 'very popular' has been banned from the classroom after having a sexual relationship with a pupil. Andrew Brook, 61, a longstanding teacher at Queen Elizabeth High School in Northumberland, developed an 'inappropriate relationship' with a pupil between March 2019 and August 2020, and subsequently for six months after she left the school. The teenager described feeling like she could not say no to the then-56-year-old father as he frequently drove her to a remote car park to have sex in the back of his van, while she was in sixth form. Despite the girl's attempts to end the relationship, Brook convinced her to carry on the relationship into her first term at university, where he visited her despite the country being in a national lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic. She said the burden of having to lie about the relationship, an order by Brook, left her feeling estranged from her family and friends for over a year. 'Looking back at the relationship, I believe there was a lot of manipulation by Mr Brook,' she told the investigating panel. 'He was older and in a position of authority. I felt as though I could not say no to him in the relationship because of the position her was in. He had a lot of influence over me – he could have probably told me to do anything and I would have done it.' The panel issued an indefinite prohibition order against Brook after they found the teacher showed 'complete lack of insight and remorse' for his behaviour, as well as downplaying the impact his actions had on the girl. In a written response to the panel in February 2024, Brook accused the investigation of engaging in 'moral policing' outside of its remit, claiming the girl was not manipulated but 'knew what she wanted'. The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) found his lack of remorse, as well as his 'attempt to minimise the impact of his behaviour of Pupil A', as 'evidence of a real risk of repetition'. The relationship began in early 2019 after Brook asked Pupil A to sit on his lap during a coach trip. A few weeks later, he sent a message wishing her luck for her A-Level exam. By the summer, the pair were messaging frequently. Pupil A said the messages were friendly in nature. But by December, the pair were meeting up at least once a week. They would meet just outside town after school. She said the meetings became 'quite intimate'. The following month, Brook picked the pupil up from work in his van, drove them down country roads into a remote car park and told her he had strong feelings for her. She said she knew the comments were 'weird' but she felt 'flattered'. A few weeks later, he took her to a car park again and kissed her multiple times. Pupil A said she initially felt 'conflicted and shocked' by Brook's advances. From March, they started having sex in the back of his van. Pupil A said they would 'park up, put the back seats down, pull the curtains round, then he would tell me to lie down and take my clothes off and we would have sex'. He then began to tell her he loved her, as well as buying her cans of alcohol. After Pupil A left for university, Brook began visiting her. During these visits, which were during a national lockdown, he would buy her alcohol, they would drink together and allegedly smoke marijuana, and they would sleep together. Pupil A described the relationship at that point as 'sexual' in nature. The pair would discuss politics, human rights and his longtime passion for Tibetan sovereignty. Pupil A said that by that point, she 'felt like a large part of the relationship was about sex for him'. It eventually ended between February and April 2021. The prohibition order stops Brook teaching in any classroom in England.

Bowls icon 'Tattie' Marshall eyes Commonwealth return alongside world champion niece
With a year to go to Glasgow 2026, Alex 'Tattie' Marshall is hoping to add to his record haul of five Commonwealth gold medals for Scotland by returning to the green next year – alongside his niece. The athlete, who shot to prominence with two golds at the 2014 Games in Glasgow, is one of the biggest names in the sport but isn't the only top bowler in the family. Beth Riva was crowned world champion earlier this year, and she says it would be a dream to compete at the games alongside her uncle. Riva was 11 when she watched Marshall's triumph in Glasgow, and his iconic celebration, and credits that moment as the point where she set her own ambitions in the sport. She's followed in her uncle's footsteps to the top of the sport and knows the importance of the competition. 'I remember it like it was yesterday,' she told STV. 'I went both days to go and watch. 'Those two bowls against England in the semi-final of the pairs, it'll never be done again, I don't think. 'It was just the most surreal thing. Amazing to watch it and to be a part of it, even better. I look back with really good memories of that summer. 'I was bowling at that time, but I think watching that gave me even more of a boost as I thought 'This is what you can do in the sport'. 'After that, it's when I started playing in more competitions, and that was the catalyst.' Getty Images Marshall doesn't tire of looking back at the competition that thrust him into the national consciousness and says the atmosphere on the green at Kelvingrove was something special. 'It'll always be in my memory, to get two gold medals in your own backyard,' he said. 'The crowd were absolutely magnificent. 'Those are two titles I'm never going to forget because it was in Scotland and you just can't beat that.' Anticipation is now building ahead of next year's Games after it was confirmed that bowls will be part of the scaled-down event. Marshall said: 'I think it's fantastic and I think every bowler was happy when they heard the news that bowls was going to be part of the Commonwealth Games. There was a little bit of doubt about it. 'I think Glasgow is buzzing already because 2014 was amazing and everybody did their job. The people of Glasgow got behind the team, and it was just so surreal, such a fantastic time. 'We're only a year away and everybody is starting to get excited again.' After an impressive World Indoor Championships where she reached the final of the women's singles and won the mixed pairs with Jason Banks, Riva said that it would be the stuff of dreams to compete at Glasgow 2026. Marshall, who watched on proudly as Riva became a world champion, says she's progressed quickly and agrees it would be special to compete together. But he says it will be tougher than ever to represent Scotland. 'It would be a dream come true for us both to be in the Commonwealth Games,' he said. 'It's going to be very difficult. It's great that bowls are going to be part of it, but it's a three-man team instead of five, so selections are going to be difficult. 'Let's hope we can both play well up to selection in April and hopefully we can both be on the Scotland teamsheet.'
