SoraNews2411-05-2025
Add an air of sophistication to your coffee time with these gorgeous goods.
Last autumn, Starbucks Japan began offering goods designed to 'blend into daily life and enhance your coffee lifestyle' at its premium Reserve Roastery branches. Now, with summer just around the corner, the chain is expanding on this theme with a new collection based around the concept of 'Daily Life at Home With Wonderful 'Iced' Coffee'. This range aims to help customers better enjoy Starbucks Reserve coffee, iced at home for summer, with never-before-seen Stanley cups in shades of cooling ice-blue, and brewing equipment with touches that are designed to age beautifully, the more you use them.
Let's take a closer look at all the new items coming our way, starting with the classy brewing equipment.
▼ Hario V60 Heat-Resistant Glass Dripper Olive Wood – 4,400 yen (US$30.16)
A heat-resistant glass dripper by Hario, with a cool appearance that's perfect for summer. The conical shape allows for a deep layer of coffee grounds, extracting rich flavour when placed directly on a server or glass to brew coffee. The large single hole lets you control the taste: pour quickly for a clean flavour, or slowly for a deeper richness. The base is made from natural olive wood, with beautiful, varied grain and a smooth feel that fits comfortably in your hand.
▼ Starbucks Reserve Glass Server with Leather Sleeve – 500 millilitres (16 ounces) – 5,000 yen
This stylish, heat-resistant glass server for drip coffee comes with a genuine leather sleeve, acting as a piece of coffee ware that combines both design and function. Enjoy Starbucks' recipe for flash-chilled coffee at home by pouring coffee over plenty of ice for a crisp, refreshing taste.
▼ Starbucks Reserve Slim Glass with Leather Sleeve – 430 millilitres – 3,800 yen
This neat-looking, heat-resistant glass is perfect for enjoying iced coffee, with the handcrafted leather sleeve giving it the Roastery Tokyo touch.
▼ Stanley 3-Way Stainless Steel Tumbler Blue – 887 millilitres – 7,400 yen
A collaboration with the super-popular American brand Stanley, this refreshing matte blue stainless steel tumbler is ideal for summertime coffees. By twisting the lid's cover section, you can either drink from it directly, use the straw, or close the mouthpiece — three options to suit any situation. The handle makes it easy to carry, and its large capacity is perfect for summer outings.
▼ Stanley Classic Vacuum Coffee Press Bottle Blue – 473 millilitres – 7,200 yen
This Stanley coffee press bottle, in Roastery Tokyo's original cooling colour, lets you brew coffee by adding ground beans and hot water directly into the bottle. It can also be used as a portable stainless steel bottle, so you can enjoy freshly brewed coffee anytime, anywhere.
These exclusive goods are a cut above other items sold at regular Starbucks branches, so if you're looking to add an air of sophistication to your coffee experience, be sure to check out Japan's Roastery chain while the goods are in stock from 5 May. All products can be purchased at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo and Starbucks Japan's official online store, while the Stanley Vacuum Coffee Press Bottle will be available at Starbucks Reserve stores as well.

Hello Kitty becomes a suntanned beach babe for new magazine freebies in Japan

Kitty chan enjoys a hot girl summer for a limited time. Hello Kitty is always hard at work throughout the year, jumping from one collaboration to the next and earning herself the unofficial title of hardest-working cat in Japan. Now, the beloved Sanrio character is combining work with play for a new appearance with sweet magazine, where she can be seen showing off her suntan in a colourful bikini. The suntanned, or 'sun-kissed', Hello Kitty is said to have the aesthetic of a 'Heisei gal' or 'Heisei gyaru' as it's known in Japanese. This term refers to the fashion subculture that flourished in Japan during the Heisei era (1989–2019), where young women — and sometimes men — rebelled against traditional beauty norms with flashy nail art, micro miniskirts, bleached or lightened hair, and suntanned skin. Hello Kitty keeps the Heisei gal aesthetic to a minimum for maximum appeal here, giving hot girl beach vibes to a collection of bonus items that come free with the regular and special editions of the sweet issue released on 11 July. Those who purchase the regular edition for 1,670 yen (US$11.31) will receive the 'Sun-Kissed Hello Kitty Plush Pouch Charm & Three-Piece Sticker Set', which contains the two items below. For fans of suntanned Kitty-chan, this is an irresistible, deluxe combo you won't find anywhere else, with the star item being the adorable plush pouch shaped like her face, complete with suntan. A hibiscus accessory adds extra colour to her summer look while amping up the kawaii factor, and it even comes with a pink carabiner and phone attachment so you can attach the pouch directly to your bag or smartphone. The plush pouch is wonderfully fluffy, super soft to the touch and large enough to sit in your palm, making it quite the statement item. ▼ Kitty chan might be enjoying a beach vacation but she's still hard at work, holding on to your small items for you. Moving on to the stickers, there are three in the set, each featuring a suntanned Hello Kitty. In one sticker she's sporting what looks to be a frangipani, in another she's walking with a surfboard under her arm, and in the other she's wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and a frilly white bikini, with three bows on her head and a drink by her side with a bow-adorned straw. The stickers have a sparkly, holographic sheen that's perfect for blinging out your smartphone, just like the gyaru did with their flip phones back in the day. Lovers of the gyaru look will fall in love with these items, but there's one more product to collect — the 'Sun-Kissed Hello Kitty Jumbo Bikini Tote', which comes with the special edition of the magazine for 1,720 yen. This is a total eye-catcher, with a bold print of Hello Kitty in a bikini with a surfboard in hand — an image that's impossible to ignore. Measuring in at approximately 41 centimetres (16 inches) in length and 44 centimetres in width, the bag is made from a high-quality material that's delightfully soft to touch. It also has a wide gusset and surprisingly large capacity that can easily fit a few A4-sized notebooks or even a laptop. ▼ You can fit three two-litre (67.6-ounce) bottles in there as well. There are no fastening clasps to get in the way so you have easy access to the contents, making it especially useful for holding beach towels, swimsuits, and other beach necessities. Simply carrying it around will make you start dreaming of summer holidays, filling you with a wanderlust for seaside getaways. The only problem is deciding which items to choose, but with the cost of both magazines totaling 3,390 yen, Hello Kitty fans can easily purchase both, for the ultimate in suntanned Sanrio cuteness. Starbucks Japan adds a Shine Muscat Grape Frappuccino to the menu for a limited time

Three Muscateers showcase a special Japanese fruit in a trio of ways. Starbucks has gone totally fruity this summer, kicking off the season with strawberries before moving onto mangoes, and now, for its third installment, grapes. These are no ordinary grapes however, as they're Shine Muscat, a large, premium, yellow-green, seedless cultivar developed in Japan. Known for its distinctive aroma and sweet flavour, this grape is now stealing the show at Starbucks, with a release called 'Three Summer Muscats'. ▼ The first drink in the series is the 'Muscat Earl Grey Frozen Tea', available in a Tall size and priced at 678 yen (US$4.69) for takeout 690 yen for dine-in. Elegance is the keyword here, as Starbucks' popular Earl Grey Bouquet & Tea beverage is enveloped in the aromas of juicy muscat to provide a refreshing mouthfeel that instantly quenches your summer thirst. The rich aroma of Earl Grey, overlapped with citrus notes, is a beautiful counterpart to the soft vanilla-flavoured mousse topping, allowing you to savour the lingering aftertaste of an elegantly light tea beverage. ▼ The second drink is the 'Grand Muscat Frappuccino', also sold in a Tall size only, priced at 707 yen for takeout or 720 yen for dine-in. This drink has been carefully developed to deliver a juicy burst of fruit flavor and a fresh, succulent taste. The base uses delicate, refreshing muscat juice, combined with a sauce containing grape pulp and a muscat puree jelly for a unique, 'bouncy' texture. The focus on creating a fruit-like texture means you can enjoy the juicy sweetness of grapes in every sip, and elderflower aroma is added as an accent, resulting in a drink that displays both elegance and depth. This beverage delivers a refreshing sensation that makes you forget the midsummer heat, and the chain recommends ordering it without whipped cream for a cleaner, more refreshing taste that's pure bliss. ▼ The third drink is the 'Chillax Soda Muscat', available in a Tall size for 579 yen (takeout) or 590 yen (dine-in), or a Grande for 624 yen (takeout) or 635 yen (dine-in). 'Chillax Soda' is Starbucks' new beverage series based on the concept of 'aromatic sodas for a lighter mood'. This new flavour combines jelly made from juicy grape pulp and muscat puree with sparkling soda, and mixes it all up with Starbucks' special original green citrus-flavoured syrup, developed exclusively for the Chillax Soda series. Take a sip and the fruit's sweetness and elegant aroma will spread, lifting your spirits. Perfect for when you're tired from the heat or want to refresh your mood, this is the ideal drink for a chill summer day. This trio of drinks lets you choose between 'elegantly fragrant', 'juicy' and 'fizzy' experiences, and three moods of 'elegance', 'bliss' and 'chill' to match your vibe. Whichever one you choose is sure to provide you with some much-needed refreshment during the summer months, and they'll be on the menu from 9 July, while stocks last.
