Shares of pipe manufacturer Jindal Saw surged nearly 11% to Rs 257.2 in Tuesday's intraday trade after the company announced major expansion plans in the Middle East.On Monday, June 9, Jindal Saw said its board had approved three international investments totalling up to $118 million, aimed at expanding its footprint in the iron and steel sector across the region.The largest of the three projects involves setting up a 100% owned step-down subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to establish a seamless pipe manufacturing facility with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes per annum. This unit will cater primarily to the oil and gas sector in the MENA region, with an investment of up to $105 million and a completion timeline of approximately three years.In Saudi Arabia, the company plans two joint ventures via its subsidiary Jindal Saw Holdings FZE. The first is with Buhur for Investment Company LLC to set up a helically spiral welded (HSAW) pipe plant, with Jindal holding a 51% stake and investing up to $10 million. The project is expected to be completed in two years.The second JV is with RAX United Industrial Company to build a ductile iron pipe manufacturing facility, also with a 51% stake and an investment of up to $3 million. This project is scheduled to be completed within 12 to 18 months.All three entities are yet to be incorporated, and the company said it will obtain the necessary regulatory and government approvals. Kolhapur: The Solapur district administration has appointed three deputy collector-rank officials, following chief minister Devendra Fadnavis 's instructions, to negotiate with traders and residents concerned about their livelihoods over the Pandharpur temple corridor development plan. The details of the plan have been made public, with total expenses estimated at Rs 2,000 crore. Designed similarly to the Kashi temple corridor plan, it includes widening of roads, developing lodges and parking facilities for devotees, and ensuring the town is prepared to tackle any disaster. On Saturday, Fadnavis held discussions with Solapur district collector Kumar Ashirwad and the team tasked with implementing the project. A few weeks ago, traders in the town held a vote to gauge support or opposition to the plan. According to the local traders' association, many traders, fearing eviction, voted against the plan. However, the administration has denied widespread opposition, stating that most traders had given written consent for the survey. "In relation to the Pandharpur corridor, from May 1 to 3, I held meetings with all concerned citizens in Pandharpur and assured them on behalf of the administration that everyone's views would be considered in further proceedings. AU Bank profit rises 16% to 581 cr in Apr-June qtr
Jaipur: AU Small Finance Bank posted a 16% growth in net profit to Rs 581 crore during the first quarter of this financial year. The Jaipur-based bank had earned a net profit of Rs 503 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The total income rose to Rs 5,189 crore during the June 2025 quarter from Rs 4,278 crore in the same period of FY25, AU Small Finance Bank said in a regulatory filing. Interest earned by the bank improved to Rs 4,378 crore compared to Rs 3,769 crore in the June quarter of FY25. Net interest income rose to Rs 2,045 crore during the quarter against Rs 1,921 crore a year ago. The bank's operating profit also increased to Rs 1,312 crore from Rs 952 crore in the year-ago period. Gross loan portfolio (GLP) grew 18% to Rs 1,17,624 crore compared to Rs 99,792 crore as of Q1 FY25, it said. Similarly, net NPAs, or bad loans, increased to 0.88% against 0.63% in the year-ago period. As a result, provisions and contingencies almost doubled to Rs 533 crore during the first quarter compared to Rs 283 crore a year ago. Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) stood at 83% at the end of June 2025. However, the capital adequacy ratio of the bank declined to 19.42 per cent from 20.11 per cent in the same quarter of FY25.
