Manhunt suspended for James Douglas Meadows, suspect in Lorain County police officer assault who remains at-large
The Lorain County Sheriff's Office reported law enforcement officers are still looking for James Douglas Meadows, 37. He stands 5-foot-7, weighs 170 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair.
He's believed to be wearing a brown shirt and a gray beanie.

The sheriff's office issued an alert on Thursday morning urging residents to lock their doors and shelter in place amid an ongoing manhunt. That shelter-in-place alert for the areas of Annis and Russia roads and South Lake Street was lifted just before 2 p.m.
Several law enforcement agencies on Thursday afternoon searched a wooded area on Russia Road near state Route 58, the sheriff reported.
The sheriff warned residents to call 911 immediately if they see Meadows.
The man's vehicle has reportedly been found, reports FOX 8 News reporter Rex Smith.

Investigators said Meadows assaulted two Sheffield Village police officers who were following a tip on a parole violation over the weekend.
According to Lorain County officials, the Sheffield Village officers were able to get one cuff on Meadows before he escaped.
Marshals searched for him after that incident, according to the sheriff. Acting on a tip, the marshals spotted Meadows at about 8 a.m. on Thursday.
The sheriff said Meadows put the marshals' lives in danger in his efforts to flee.
Investigators said Meadows escaped after a short vehicle pursuit.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Peoria woman faces up to 30 years in prison for 'brazen behavior' when she allegedly attacked and hijacked a 66-year-old man's vehicle. Taccara V. Dear, 32, appeared in Peoria County Circuit Court on charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking and possession of a stolen motor vehicle in connection with an incident Sunday afternoon in Sterling Plaza shopping center. When they arrived, they found the victim who said he was getting into his vehicle when a woman, allegedly Dear, reached through the window of his 2008 Ford Escape, took his keys from the ignition, and fled on foot. When he tried to stop her, she struck him multiple times before getting into his vehicle and driving away. She was caught later and allegedly admitted to taking the vehicle. 2 teenagers killed, 1 hurt in Cleveland crash: police
CLEVELAND (WJW) — Two teenagers died after a crash in the early morning hours of Sunday, Cleveland police confirmed to FOX 8 News. According to preliminary information, officers responded to the northbound lanes of I-77 at the I-90 East/East 9th St./Ontario split just after 1:15 a.m. Sunday on reports of a crash. Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser strikes, kills man walking in road along I-71 Police determined the vehicle was going north on I-77 at a high rate of speed and was passing vehicles on the right. According to police, as the vehicle approached the curve leading to I-90 East, it veered off the left side of the road, went into the grass and rolled several times down an embankment. The three people in the vehicle were ejected, police said. An 18-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. ‘Her heart was rare': 2 get life in prison for shooting death of 10-year-old girl at July 4 party in Cleveland
CLEVELAND (WJW) — Two people convicted last month in the shooting death of 10-year-old Gracie Griffin at a Fourth of July party last year were sentenced to life in prison on Monday. Gracie Griffin was shot and killed during a family cookout last summer. On Monday, her loved ones came face-to-face with the men responsible: brothers Juwone Deaver and Jemerious Davis. Davis, 24, both of Cleveland, were each sentenced Monday to 25 years to life for her murder. The shooting happened during a Fourth of July party at a home near the intersection of West 125th Street and Triskett Road, FOX 8 News previously reported. Griffin, 10, was at the party and was standing outside the home with Deaver, Davis and another suspect when a vehicle carrying four people pulled in front of the home, prosecutors said. 'Deaver and Davis then opened fire, shooting multiple times with a .45 caliber firearm and an AK-style firearm at the vehicle,' reads a previous news release from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Vehicle that struck wanted man during Butler pursuit was driven by Mayor Wesley Dingus, police say Griffin was struck in the head and pronounced dead at a hospital. Deaver and Davis claimed they had felt threatened, but investigators determined no shots were fired from the vehicle, only toward it. 'She was taken, not by a stranger, but from someone she trusted; someone she was supposed to feel safe around,' Griffin's grandmother, Touch Choup, told the court on Monday.
