The car overturned on Sunday morning on the Tsing Yi-bound carriageway of the bridge, a major route connecting the airport and Lantau Island to the urban centre, near the scenic viewing platform.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted to the accident after receiving multiple calls from the public at 8.42am.
Pictures from the scene showed the black Mercedes upended on its roof near the edge of the bridge.
A heavy tow truck was later deployed to lift the wrecked vehicle onto a flatbed as police and Tsing Ma Control Area staff managed traffic flow through the partially blocked lanes.
Hong Kong police are investigating the incident. A spokeswoman says the driver was sober and no arrests have been made. Photo: Handout
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, but initial findings suggest no foul play was involved.

3 University of Hong Kong students demand tougher action after AI porn incident

Three students of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) whose classmate used artificial intelligence (AI) to generate pornographic images of them have demanded 'a more permanent and substantial consequence' for the perpetrator after he was issued a warning letter but not disciplined further. In a reply to the Post on Monday, the victims also expressed unhappiness about 'rearrangements' made by HKU after they lodged a complaint to the institution in March, saying they were either forced to sit close to the student a few times, or were made to stay in the same project and work with him. The trio made public their accusations against the law student referred to as 'X' in social media posts on Saturday, while alleging the university had not done enough to hold the man accountable. On Monday, they said HKU should also be held responsible for not doing better to protect them after their ordeal. 'We demand a more permanent and substantial consequence for X,' the three students told the Post. 'We are not satisfied with HKU's current disciplinary actions, that is, the issuing of a warning letter [only] for internal reference.

Hong Kong's first fully licensed premium taxi fleet hits the streets with 160 cabs

Hong Kong launched its much-awaited premium taxi service on Monday, as the first operator to receive a full licence hit the streets with its 160 cabs after completing a trial run. SynCab showcased its vehicles during a launch ceremony attended by Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan, who said she expected the company would help the public to see the clear path forward for the development of higher-end taxis. She also stressed the importance of training drivers to ensure good service. 'Trained drivers can give residents confidence, and fleet management can allow them to accept online orders with peace of mind on one hand, while also being able to pick up street hails,' Chan said. 'I hope the taxi fleet cherishes and values its advantages. The taxi industry's development hinges on retaining its distinct features and fostering competition, which drives advancement.' Authorities in March said the city aimed to roll out 3,500 premium taxis.
