Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has shared a deeply emotional recollection of the tragic car accident.
The accident claimed the life of his father, C.P. Chacko. In an interview with The Cue, Shine opened up about the trauma, pain, and irreversible void the incident created in their lives.
'He gave me a biscuit… Then everything went silent'
The accident took place on the Hosur National Highway near Palakkad, in Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district. Shine, who was recovering from addiction at the time, had taken medication to help him sleep. 'Dad gave me a biscuit, maybe two or three times,' he recalled. 'I was resting in the backseat… the next time I opened my eyes, the car had already crashed.'

His father never spoke after that.
Shine, his mother Mary Carmal, and his brother Jo John were injured, while the driver miraculously escaped unhurt. Shine's left hand was badly hurt and required 30 stitches; he also sustained a small spinal fracture.
'She kept asking, 'Where is Daddy?...'
For Shine, the hardest part was watching his mother try to understand the tragedy. 'She kept asking, 'Where is Daddy?' even though he was right next to us,' Shine said, breaking down. 'I would lie and say, 'Daddy is here with us,' hoping she'd find some peace.
But then she'd ask again.'
He expressed that his mother, more than anyone else, bore the heaviest emotional loss. 'She lost her life partner. She still hasn't come to terms with it.'
"That day, I was on the road, crying…"
Shine admitted the experience left him emotionally scarred. "Until I lost my father, the death of someone else's parent was just another piece of news. That day, I was on the road, crying and pleading for help," said the actor.
The actor also revealed that he isn't considering remarriage, as the idea of raising children and worrying about their safety feels too overwhelming at this time. Shine said if he or his brother had died that day instead of their father, the pain for their parents would have been unimaginable.

'Thug Life' OTT verdict: Netizens slam Kamal Haasan's gangster drama - ‘Complete disappointment'

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) After a lukewarm run in theatres, 'Thug Life' starring Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR, has finally dropped on OTT. While fans were curious to see if the Mani Ratnam-directed film might find redemption on OTT, social media reactions seem to echo the disappointment many felt during its theatrical release. Netizens unimpressed by story and execution As soon as the film began streaming on July 3, social media was flooded with reactions — and most of them weren't kind. On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared bluntly, 'Thug Life is such a disappointment. The script is so weak, and you can't connect with any of the characters.' Another comment, laced with sarcasm, read, 'Thug Life Promo > Thug Life Movie… Promo ku pota effort ah padathulayum konjam potu irukalam.' Meanwhile, one netizen, reacting to a post about wanting to watch great cinema, quipped, 'That's where Thug Life succeeded — no could-have-been-great talk. Straight to the point. Total dumbsh*t.' One Twitter user criticized the dance choreography of 'Sugar Baby' song. The Tweet read, "How they controlled their laugh ???? worst choreography asusal worst performance too." Meanwhile, one positive comment read, "Thug Life- an amazing movie. Mani Ratnam shows why he is such a great director. Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan at their best. A must-watch movie. " What went wrong? Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam, Thug Life was supposed to be a return to gritty, emotionally layered storytelling. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why seniors are rushing to get this Internet box – here's why! ETimes review We gave the film a rating of only 2 stars out of 5, and our review read, "Thug Life becomes a slog. The latter half goes haywire with many of the sub-plots from the earlier portions either being diluted or largely getting shoved away for a long amount of time. Even Amaran goes missing for quite some time. Instead, what we get are preposterous scenes of Sakthivel's survival after being shot at or stabbed multiple times. The threat of Sadanand ceases to exist and Deepak feels like a weak antagonist who makes moves that are predictable. Even AR Rahman seems to lose interest and delivers a background score that feels random."

He's joined by a stellar cast that includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and rising star Damson Idris. ETimes review for the movie reads, "Brad Pitt nails the role of a driver with laid-back arrogance, shining in every scene—whether he's strutting in with retro swagger or brushing off the media with monosyllabic replies. Don't miss the finale, where it's just him in the cockpit, the world around him fading into silence—what he calls 'flying.' Damson Idris is equally compelling as the new-age driver, skillfully balancing raw talent with the modern demands of social media and public presence."
