Pakistan 'Honour' Killing: Couple Shot Dead For ‘Marrying By Choice', Killers Film Act
Police in southwestern Pakistan arrested 11 suspects after a viral video showed a couple murdered for marrying without family approval, sparking outrage in Balochistan.
A disturbing video showing a young couple being shot dead in Pakistan is going viral. As per the authorities, this is a case of 'honor killing'; the newlyweds were killed for marrying without family's approval. The video is being widely circulated and has caused an uproar in the country.
Pakistan police have arrested 11 suspects in relation to the case. As per the local police, no family members came forward to report the incident. The couple has been identified as Bano Bibi and Ahsan Ullah, and the police also released names of some suspects.
The viral video was viewed by The Associated Press and the police confirmed the authenticity of the footage. The killings happened in the Deghari district in the province of Balochistan, said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. The video shows a man killing the young couple at close range in daylight in the presence of several onlookers.
In the video, several men arrive in pickup trucks in a mountainous region, and a young woman, speaking the local language, says she is legally married. 'Come, walk seven steps with me, and then you can only shoot me," she was quoted by AP as saying. However, her context was not clear.
The footage further shows a man following the woman and he shoots her three times before she collapses on the ground. He then shoots and kills her husband before another man takes out a gun and joins him in shooting the groom. The video ends with both victims lying bloodied on the ground.
The incident has caused a stir in the country as 'honor killing' cases are still common in Pakistan. After the video went viral, activists' demands for justice and a stop to so-called honor killings have amplified.
'The bravery shown by the slain woman is both humbling and remarkable, as she neither begged for her life nor showed any weakness," Farhatullah Babar, a Pakistani human rights activist, was quoted by AP.
A tribal elder, Sardar Satakzai, ordered the couple killed after the bride's brother complained she married without his consent, said police chief, Naveed Akhtar. Both were among the 11 arrested in a series of raids, and authorities were looking for nine more suspects, he said.

'To protect the public from cybercriminals, APTS will conduct cyber security awareness conferences," said Krishna, addressing a press conference here without specifying a date. The awareness sessions will focus on fraud tactics, preventive measures, and complaint procedures, with an emphasis on the need for 'technical interventions in light of the global surge in cybercrimes," he added. Krishna claimed that APTS had conducted 'Hackathon 2025', training selected graduates and IT professionals in cyber security for six months, with a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 provided during the period. 'Your Computer Is At Risk': How Fake Call Centres In Chandigarh Tricity Duped Foreigners
Last Updated: The ED claimed to have busted a major tech fraud racket, following midnight raids on illegal call centres that were duping foreign nationals via spoofing and brand impersonation Pop-up messages, cloned websites, and fake support hotlines, with text as cliche as 'your computer is at risk" – this is how illegal call centres in Chandigarh Tricity played on their victims' fears, most of whom were elderly or non-tech savvy foreign clients. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) claimed to have busted a major tech fraud racket, following midnight searches on illegal call centres in the Chandigarh Tricity area under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It said these entities duped foreign nationals with spoofing and brand impersonation as a core strategy. According to top ED sources, these entities systematically impersonated global tech brands to cheat foreign customers, funnelling proceeds through structured shell companies, spoof websites, payment gateways, and later laundering them via banking channels and hawala. The operations were professionally disguised and run under the garb of BPO and IT services, the sources told News18. The ED sources said entities like Visionaire and Terrasparq have been operational since 2016, showing the longevity and adaptive nature of these networks. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? The sources said Faisal Rashid Peerzada, director of FSAL Technologies Pvt Ltd, was involved in spoofing, fund control, backend operations. Arshdeep, director of Bios Webtech (US entity) and a close aide of Faisal, helped mask Indian control. They said Sahu Jain, director of Visionaire and Terrasparq, had been operational since 2016 and was linked to US firm CTS Mobility owned by his sister Priya, who was a potential overseas conduit. This is not an isolated scam but a tech-enabled, well-orchestrated fraud ecosystem. They were using front companies in India, showing a calculated effort to evade domestic scrutiny. It also suggested centralised orchestration by Faisal and Jain, they added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
