OpenAI launches first global education platform in India in partnership with IndiaAI Mission
As part of the collaboration, OpenAI and IndiaAI signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that outlines the shared objectives of fostering AI literacy and innovation. The platform blends online and offline learning and will initially offer courses in English and Hindi, with plans to incorporate additional regional languages in the near future. OpenAI will also integrate its learning modules with the IndiaAI Mission's FutureSkills platform, alongside contributing educational content to iGOT Karmayogi, a capacity-building platform for government officials.
'This partnership represents a significant stride towards making cutting-edge AI tools and knowledge accessible to all,' said Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. 'By opening doors to future-ready skills, we are enabling our startups, researchers, and developers to innovate faster and more effectively.'
To support grassroots innovation, OpenAI has committed to offering up to $100,000 in API credits to 50 startups or fellows approved by the IndiaAI Mission. Additionally, the Academy will organise a series of hackathons across seven Indian states, engaging around 25,000 students. Winners will be offered the opportunity to attend OpenAI's global Dev Day event.
The Academy will also contribute to one of IndiaAI's most ambitious goals, training one million teachers in the application of generative AI technologies in education.
Workshops and webinars conducted by OpenAI experts will take place in six major cities, further enriching the hybrid learning experience and community engagement. The programme's Knowledge Hub will provide free access to video lectures, interactive tutorials, real-world modules, and peer-based learning circles to encourage collaborative learning.
Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer at OpenAI, lauded India's momentum in the AI sector, stating, 'India is emerging as one of the most dynamic hubs for AI innovation. We are thrilled to collaborate with IndiaAI to empower individuals with the skills and confidence to harness AI meaningfully in their daily lives and careers.'

Veteran Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai, in partnership with Crest Ventures Limited and Mukta Arts, has leased out a commercial property in Mumbai's Andheri West. According to a report by property portal Square Yards, the lease is projected to generate ₹ 2.24 crore in rental income over a five-year period. The property, situated within the Crest Mukta development, spans approximately 7,500 square feet (697 square metres) of built-up area. The lease was formally registered in July 2025, as per documents accessed via the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) portal. Under the agreement, the initial monthly rent is set at ₹ 3.38 lakh, with scheduled annual increments bringing it to ₹ 4.11 lakh by the fifth year. Square Yards' analysis estimates a rental escalation rate of nearly 5% per annum. The lease tenure covers a total of 60 months. Registration charges for the transaction amounted to ₹ 1,000, with an additional ₹ 57,500 paid in stamp duty. A security deposit of ₹ 24.66 lakh has also been secured as part of the agreement. Andheri West is among Mumbai's most desirable commercial and residential areas, known for its blend of premium housing, heritage properties, and boutique offices. Its strong connectivity to the international airport, Western Express Highway, Andheri railway station and the metro network further enhances its investment appeal. Earlier in 2025, Subhash Ghai and his wife Mukta Ghai also purchased a luxury apartment valued at ₹ 24 crore in the upscale suburb of Bandra West. Subhash Ghai, a key figure in Hindi cinema during the 1980s and 1990s, is celebrated for films such as 'Kalicharan' (1976), 'Karz' (1980), and 'Hero' (1983). Beyond filmmaking, he founded Whistling Woods International, a prominent film and media institute based in Mumbai, in 2006.

LU to offer foreign students courses on Indian culture, economy
1 2 Lucknow: In a move to foster global academic collaboration and cultural exchange, Lucknow University will introduce non-credit courses for international students across three domains — Hindi language, Indian economy, and Indian Culture — from the 2025-26 academic session. The courses will offer international students an immersive understanding of India's diverse linguistic, economic, and cultural landscape. The initiative also aligns with India's growing focus on educational diplomacy and internationalisation of higher education. Scheduled to begin after Aug 12, the launch of these courses will coincide with the arrival of newly-admitted international students on campus. Though these courses will not carry academic credits, they are intended as supplementary learning experiences to deepen students' engagement with India beyond the classroom. According to LU officials, the objective is to help international students connect with the Indian ethos and contextual realities, leading them to experience India not just as a place of study, but as a living culture.
