In a statement, the party said public trust in Singapore's political leadership was at stake.
'We call for a full and transparent investigation through a public and independent Commission of Inquiry,' SDP said in a statement.
'Important questions need to be addressed to preserve Singapore's reputation for integrity and incorruptibility.'
The SDP said it was crucial to determine whether the dinners were personal or official, and whether proper protocols were followed.
The party also questioned if Covid-19 regulations had been breached during the gatherings.
It expressed concern that the presence of the ministers and the NTUC chief gave the events an air of official significance.
The SDP said guests at such events should have been carefully vetted to avoid reputational harm.
'The SDP calls on PM Lawrence Wong to address the matter. Remaining silent on such an alarming development, especially one coming in the immediate aftermath of the elections, is not an option.'
Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported that Ng Chee Meng, Ong Ye Kung and Chee Hong Tat were photographed at a dinner with Su Haijin, a China-born national later jailed in the country's largest money laundering case.
All three ministers said they had no personal ties to Su and had attended the dinners by invitation. They have also sued over claims linking them to him.

Anwar: Malaysia defended Bumiputera policy in US trade talks, resisted pressure on key policies
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Malaysia was among the few countries that stood firm on protecting key national policies during trade negotiations with the United States (US), Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told Parliament today. Anwar said that while Malaysia maintained its position on non-negotiable issues, it took a pragmatic stance on others, particularly those involving trade mechanisms such as import and export regulations. 'I didn't want to risk tariff rates of 25 per cent or even 40 per cent. Malaysia is a trading nation, and the US is one of our major trade partners. 'It's easy to score symbolic victories at home, but the country could suffer, and hundreds of thousands of people would feel the impact. As Prime Minister, I have to protect the people's interests,' he said. He added that the government was willing to make concessions where possible, not only with the US, but also with other trading partners, including China. Meanwhile, touching on the Malaysia Aviation Group's (MAG) purchase of Boeing aircraft, the Prime Minister said it was MAG's decision and that Boeing was not the only aircraft model being acquired by the airline. 'We are also buying from Airbus, and I had brought up the fact that Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and AirAsia will be purchasing larger aircraft from Airbus during my discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron,' he said. He added that both Boeing and Airbus have set up their manufacturing facilities here in Malaysia, and highlighted that the purchase agreement with Boeing includes a condition that Boeing must set up some of its aircraft manufacturing operations in Malaysia. ‘Will reduce gradually': PM says sudden deficit cuts risk hurting education, STR and healthcare allocations
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — The Madani government is gradually reducing the fiscal deficit in phases to lessen the national debt burden, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said that if the deficit were to be reduced suddenly, there is a risk that it would hinder additional allocations for educational activities, the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) assistance and health. Anwar said the fiscal deficit was recorded at 5.5 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2022. This was gradually reduced to five per cent in 2023 and further reduced to 4.1 per cent in 2024. 'Our target is to reduce the deficit gradually in phases. As long as the deficit is not reduced, the debt amount will increase. 'That is why, from the debt perspective, I said in 2021 that the new debt amounted to RM100 billion; in 2022, RM99 billion and in 2023, the new debt amount fell to RM92.6 billion. In 2024, it will further be decreased to RM76.8 billion,' he said during the ministerial question time in the Dewan Rakyat today. Anwar said last year, STR and SARA rose to RM15 billion, and the Education Ministry received the highest increase of up to RM64 billion, while the Health Ministry received a RM45 billion rise. He said the policy implemented has been viewed positively following a rise in foreign and domestic investor confidence. — Bernama

Reach consensus first before seeking MP allocations, Anwar tells Opposition
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has advised opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) to first reach a consensus among themselves before making any requests regarding allocations for opposition representatives. Anwar said that if the Opposition MPs succeed in reaching an agreement, they could then meet with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who has been given the mandate to handle the matter. 'I agree; that's why I've asked the DPM (Fadillah) to be open to listening. But for it to begin, there must first be a consensus among the opposition MPs, and as of now, there is none. Some agree to negotiate, others do not. 'So I suggest that the Honourable Member for Arau (Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim) first hold talks with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and the other MPs, reach a consensus, and then inform the DPM (Fadillah), who has been given the mandate,' he said in response to Shahidan (PN-Arau) during the Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today regarding allocations for opposition MPs.
