Morrisons AXES popular loyalty scheme feature that saved shoppers cash

MORRISONS has stopped two of its popular food offers- leaving customers missing their weekend discounts.
Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays have for years given customers with More Cards 20% off fish and steak from the stores' Market Street counters.

But the supermarket recently removed the offers as it says customers wanted value all week-long, not just certain days of the week.
Instead it has now added 125 fish and steak products to its three for £10 offer, which is available all the time, as well as offering other deals on certain dates.
Customers are not happy with the change, with one saying on Morrisons' Facebook page: 'You have finished with 20% off the fish Friday and Steak Saturday not happy.'
Another added: 'Are Morrisons stopping the 20% Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays?
'Manager last week told me they were stopping it, offers no longer showing on the app!'
Morrisons' fish and meat counters carry the store's 'Market Street' branding, as well as many products sold on the supermarket's shelves.
The retailer recently announced the closure of 70 of its fish and meat counters, which came as a blow to shoppers across the country.
A spokesman said it will continue to offer 'great value' deals, such as its recent discount of a third off Market Street Sirloin Steak over the last May Bank Holiday weekend.
Offers included saving a third on Market Street Rump Steak last weekend (May 9 -11), and a third off Silverside Joint between May 12 and 18.
These deals are available on the shelves, and not from the meat counters.
Savvy ways to save at Morrisons
Morrisons said: 'Market street is an important part of Morrisons and we are working hard to maintain what customers really want, modernising our proposition and maintaining what is in our DNA as a company.'
It's not the only supermarket to have upset shoppers planning their weekend meals.
Fans of Tesco's Finest dine-in meal deal were recently upset to learn the cost had risen from £12 to £15.
Last October, ready-meals fans were angry because M&S hiked its popular Gastropub dine-in deal by 25%, from £12 to £15.
And earlier this year Tesco increased the cost of its deal on ready meals, with the cost of two of its Finest ready meals rising from £7.50 to £8, and more recently to £8.50 with a Clubcard.
Also, the retailer recently made to its loyalty scheme which now allows loyalty card holders the ability to donate their points to charity Marie Curie.
What is Morrisons' More Card scheme?
The loyalty scheme, which was reintroduced in 2023, has proved popular with many shoppers.
It allows customers who have saved 5,000 Points, to receive a £5 Morrisons voucher which can be redeemed on a future shop, in store or online.
It can be used as a physical card or app and customers will be able to earn points on specific products and counters in store and online.
That means you won't earn points on every single item.
Customers can also earn five points for every litre of fuel bought in a Morrisons petrol filling station.
Examples of points you would get based on purchases include:
100 More Points for every five pack of doughnuts (89p)
500 More Points for every £5 spent at the pizza counter
600 More Points for every £6 spent in a Morrisons café
100 More Points for every British BBQ meat pack from the butcher's counter
Once a customer has saved 5,000 points, they will receive a "Morrisons Fiver" which can be redeemed on a future shop.
Shoppers on the loyalty scheme will still be able to get exclusive prices on certain products, including Pringles, Nescafe instant coffee and Cathedral City cheese after the supermarket launched those last October.

MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.

They can give away their More Points to the end-of-life charity 1,000 at a time - which is the equivalent of £1.
Loyalty scheme changes at other retailers
Elsewhere, Tesco made a major change to its Clubcard scheme and it's great news for pizza lovers.
Customers can now exchange their points for money off drinks and food at PizzaExpress until the end of April.
Any Clubcard points exchanged for money off at Pizza Express are worth double, so a £1.50 voucher will save you £3.
Sainsbury's also recently made a huge change to its Nectar loyalty scheme for 18 million customers.
The UK's second biggest grocery store has introduced a new security feature on its loyalty card app to prevent points from being stolen.
The free scheme allows customers to earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent at Sainsbury's, both in-store and online.

A POPULAR Christmas chocolate has been spotted at a major supermarket, despite the big day being five months away. Eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted pouches of Quality Street chocolates on the shelves in Asda. 1 Shoppers have raced to get their hands on Quality Street Favourites pouches The pouches of Quality Street Favourites cost £3.50 for a 334g bag. Every pouch contains just a few flavours of Quality Street chocolate, helping to avoid leaving unwanted sweets at the bottom of your tin. Among the flavours on offer are Mixed Cremes and a Golden Selection. Shoppers have taken to social media to voice their excitement at spotting the popular treats. One person took to Facebook to share the news and said: 'Things are getting festive at Asda.' A second person commented and said: 'I love christmas so it's perfect, just waiting for the Christmas decorations in The Range.' While a third added: 'Might try and get some of these for our pick n mix table xx.' But not everyone was excited about spotting Christmas treats in stores so early in the year. One disgruntled person said: 'In July??' While another added: 'Oh crikey.' It's not the only Quality Street treat on offer in Asda. The supermarket also brought back the Green Triangle-inspired sharing bar after two years. It costs £3.50 for an 84g bar and it has the flavours of the iconic Green Triangle, which is usually found in Quality Street tins. The bars landed on shelves in 2023 but were axed just a year later. They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers. There are several reasons why this could be done. Meanwhile, Asda is also selling festive Dairy Milk Winter Wonderland chocolate bars. The milk and white chocolate bar contains Christmas tree-shaped pieces and is described as 'perfect for a stocking filler or a little treat at Christmas time' by Cadbury. It costs £1.64 for a 100g bar. The supermarket is also selling Terry's Chocolate Orange Segsations, which contain five delicious flavours. The bags weigh 360g and cost £3.50. More chocolate news The Quality Street bar isn't the only popular treat to return to supermarkets. Mars recently brought back its White Chocolate Maltesers after 11 years off shelves. Plus more chocolates are launching in supermarkets. Cadbury has released a new Dairy Milk Iced Latte flavour in the UK. The bar combines classic Dairy Milk chocolate with a creamy coffee filling and crunchy biscuit pieces. Kitchen Kings located smack bang in the middle of Blackwood high street promises customers an 'authentic smash burger experience.' (Image: NQ) The business popped up on the street back in March this year but has humble beginnings upgrading from a burger van parked outside the local gym. We decided to plate up at Kitchen Kings and 'grill' the brains behind the business. Owners Tommie Webb 27, and Will Davies 28 stepped up to the challenge. Speaking about their business Will said: 'It just skyrocketed from the beginning, we grew up together and are best friends but never imagined it would turn out like this, but we've always had faith in the business.' A smash burger from Kitchen Kings Blackwood dripping in melted cheese (Image: NQ) Tommie explained: 'We both worked in the same fish shop when we were younger, I moved to Bristol and helped set up a Greek Restaurant and I came back home and was running a pub in Oakdale and worked on a burger van in Tredegar. Then we got our van and we started outside the gym.' Will added: 'It was my dad's fish shop in Newbridge, I started in the fish shop, but I've always had a head for business and my wanted by own business. 'We got together had the idea of getting a burger van that was in November.' Kitchen King dynamic duo Tommie Webb and Will Davies (Image: NQ) Together the boys have accumulated 10K followers on Facebook and dominated the Blackwood Highstreet. Huge queues each day can be seen leading out of the shop which has a great selection of food for hungry customers. However, the boys acknowledged they couldn't have done it alone. Will said: 'We couldn't have done it without our staff, our team are great, and the community support has been immense.' An epic munch box filled with smash beef burgers and cheese, chicken wing bites, loaded fries with pulled pork and all dripping with cheese sauce (Image: NQ) So, what's on the menu? The business is best known for smash‑style double patties, loaded fries and jackets, Korean BBQ‑style chicken, tacos, wraps, rice boxes, and refreshing drink options. Whilst at Kitchen Kings I dug into a 'Munch Box.' In my munch box I was spotlit for choice. From crispy lean chicken tenders to BBQ pulled pork loaded fries all topped off with two huge smash burgers dripping in cheese and as if that wasn't enough, a giant cheese dip. One customer even said, 'They'd give the Beefy Boys a run for their money!' The restaurant is normally open from 11am-around 10pm. Would you eat here??
