Motorcyclist crashes into traffic cop during NKVE check
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar @ Ismail said the 9.15am incident occurred when the 43-year-old sergeant from the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) was carrying out checks at the emergency lane at Km21.2 of the NKVE towards the Sg Buloh overhead bridge restaurant.
"Preliminary investigations showed that the male motorcyclist, 37, failed to avoid the officer during the inspection, resulting in a collision.
"The policeman sustained injuries to the face and head but is in stable condition. He has been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital," he said.
Shahrulnizam said the case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for other persons using the road.
If found guilty, the rider can be fined between RM5,000 and RM10,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 12 months.
A conviction under this section will also be recorded on the person's driver's licence.

He added that this then caused him to hit the road dividers. "Both drivers tested negative for drugs and driving while intoxicated," he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. [UPDATED] Colliding motorcycles caused chain reaction killing 3, injuring 12 others
SEREMBAN: A collision between three motorcycles is believed to have caused a chain reaction which resulted in the death of three motorcyclists and 12 others being injured along the North South Expressway near the Seremban exit early today. Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the incident occurred at around 2.30am at KM 262.5 (northbound), when a convoy of motorcyclists was enroute to Kuala Lumpur from Senawang. "Early investigations revealed the riders were traveling in a group using the middle and right lanes of the highway when three motorcycles at the front collided with one another," he said in a statement today. He said the initial crash caused the riders to fall on the road, triggering a domino effect as 12 other motorcycles travelling behind slammed into them. "All those involved were thrown off the motorcycles. "A car and a lorry traveling along the same route were also hit in the rear and right side by several of the motorcycles," he said adding that the accident resulted in the deaths of three motorcycists who were pronounced dead at the scene. "The remaining 12 injured riders were rushed to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban. Two of them are in critical condition and are currently being treated in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU)," he said, adding that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Rembau Hospital's Forensics Department for post-mortem. Hatta urged motorcyclists to ride responsibly, avoid excessive speeding and refrain from weaving in and out of traffic, stressing that reckless riding can lead to fatal consequences. He urged those with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer Inspector Tiew Chuan Jie at 014-9668399 or report to the nearest police station. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," Hatta added.

Teen girl killed, man injured in motorcycle crash due to burst tyre
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 17-year-old girl was killed while her 23-year-old male companion suffered serious injuries after their motorcycle skidded due to a burst tyre on the North-South Expressway near Seberang Jaya. The incident occurred at Kilometre 136.8 northbound late yesterday evening. Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Helmi Aris confirmed that the pair were travelling from Juru to Sungai Dua when the rear tyre of their motorcycle suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to lose control. 'The 23-year-old rider sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital. Unfortunately, the teenage pillion rider was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said in a statement today. Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
