Hilary Swank reveals heart-wrenching story that brought her 'to tears'... but fans think she was fooled by AI

Daily Mail28-07-2025
Hilary Swank was brought 'to tears' over an emotional story that she came across — but some fans have speculated that she may have been fooled by AI.
The 50-year-old Oscar winner — who is the mother of two-year-old twins — shared a post that had originally been uploaded by an account called @german_shepherd.co.
The story is about a girl who goes to a police dog auction to bid for a German Shepherd that had worked with her late mother. She only had a jar of money, but others withdrew their own bids after seeing the little girl's connection with the dog.
'This story brought me to tears for so many reasons,' Hilary wrote to her 1.6 million followers.
'I'm so sorry and so saddened that this precious girl lost her Mama and I'm so happy this devoted to her Mama and family is there to continue to show his loyalty and unconditional love.'
The Million Dollar Baby actress often posts about animals to her Instagram account, with her bio also describing herself as an 'animal rescuer.'
However, some believe that the Instagram post may actually be AI, with one writing in the comments, ' Sounds nice but this image screams "AI"...'
DailyMail.com has reached out to Swank to request comment but hasn't yet received a response.
Another commenter wrote, 'Sounds like an AI story makes no sense at all,' and an Instagram user shared, 'Beautiful story but sadly seems "created," not real.'
'Y'all know this is fake right? They don't auction off retired police dogs. They stay with the handler if they retire,' one suggested.
Hilary notably has five rescue dogs, which she has previously opened up about during an interview with People in 2021.
'I think that dogs have an incredible, innate gift of reading us without any words. Their ability to communicate is extraordinary,' she told the outlet.
The Hollywood star later expressed, 'Every dog that I have ever rescued and also shared my life with have all had their own unique way of being in the world.'
Her passion for rescuing animals led to Hilary launching her Hilaroo Foundation a decade earlier in 2015.
The foundation 'pairs rescue animals who have been abandoned with youth who, whether by choice or circumstance, have been given up on by society to create meaningful connections — changing the path of each soul,' per the official website.
'Hilaroo's programs currently exist in the form of one-week camps in the summer and holiday months as well as after school programs where a child is paired with his or her own dog to bond with and care for.'
The actress is often vocal about her love for animals and sometimes wills share snaps of her own rescue dogs to her Instagram page.
And during an interview with Women's Health in April, she further talked about her passion for caring for animals, as well as her love of nature.
'I have five dogs. I have two horses. Nature is such a fundamental part of who I am. Thankfully, I grew up in nature.
'For me, it's in my DNA, it's in my marrow, and I would not be the same person without it. And so I have to be in nature every day in some facet or another. And where I live is so perfect for that.'
The star added, 'I have a lake right in front of me and a forest in my backyard. That's my recharge.'
Hilary has been keeping busy and recently portrayed the role of adult Melissa in the third season of Yellowjackets, with the season finale airing in April.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the star opened up about working on the thriller drama series — which has garnered a number of Emmy nominations.
'I got a call from the creators asking if I wanted to be a part of the show and I said, "Tell me more." What they shared with me was super intriguing and I said, "This sounds like a blast. I'm totally game."'
Hilary said that she 'didn't get to read anything first because they didn't have anything yet. They offered this to me two weeks before we started filming.'
The star is not only known for her work on television, but also her critically-acclaimed performances on the big screen as well.
She has won two Oscars for Best Actress for her roles in Boy's Don't Cry (1999) and Million Dollar Baby (2004).
In April 2023, Hilary became a mom to twins — a boy and a girl — and later revealed their names are Aya and Ohm.
She shares the little ones with husband Philip Schneider, with whom she tied the knot in 2018. The star was previously married to Chad Lowe from 1997 until their divorce in 2007.
Hilary became a mom at the age of 48, and has gotten candid about how it had been the 'right time' for her.
During her conversation with Women's Health this year, she explained, 'I would have had kids earlier. I'm not saying I actively waited until 47. But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for myriad reasons.'
Hilary later added, 'I'm a very different parent than I would've been, even in my early 40s. I'm much more patient. I'm much more understanding. I am much more, I think, interested in a different way than I would've been.
'I'm really interested in their brains. I'm fascinated about what makes them tick. And I have my career that's already established, so I'm not divided.'
She continued, 'I'm able to really sink in and be present with them and be a hands-on parent.'
When it comes to keeping up with her two-year-old twins, the beauty stated that she makes time for exercise — although she admitted that it 'took a back seat for a little while.'
'But even with the babies, when they're napping, I have those three hours to get my exercise in and read a script or take a meeting or do an interview.'
The star revealed that she enjoys playing tennis and doing both Pilates as well as strength training.
Hilary also talked about healthy eating and her own diet, which consists of no dairy and mostly staying away from meat.
'It's one of the key things I keep in mind — eating to fuel your body, what makes you feel good and what gives you energy.'

Margaret Qualley reveals how she struggled on her own before meeting husband Jack Antonoff

Margaret Qualley has opened up about her relationship with husband Jack Antonoff as she posed for her latest cover-shoot on Monday. The 30-year-old explained that she was 'a late bloomer' and turned to magazines to read about sex which took away the 'shame and embarrassment' surrounding it. The actress, who is the daughter of model Andie MacDowell, also debunked claims of nepotism as she revealed she 'lived out of a suitcase, without any furniture' when she was just 16 until she became financially independent. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, as she posed for sizzling photos, the Maid star said that she always 'felt really lonely' before meeting singer Jack in 2020. She said: 'Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable. I spent so many years trying to be someone's perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over. But I can't lie to Jack—he'd see through it. 'So I just have to be myself. He's been the person I've pictured my whole life. And I'm not even saying that metaphorically. My first crush was Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore, and I've been looking for that essence my whole life. I'm like, "That's Jack".' The actress married Jack in August 2023, in a star-studded affair in New Jersey, where the bride wore a Chanel halter-neck gown, of course, Mary Jane shoes, and her dark locks was styled in a short bob. The celebrity guest list included such A-listers as Taylor Swift, Channing Tatum, Lana Del Rey, Zoe Kravitiz, Cara Delevingne, Alex Wolff and, of course, Andie MacDowell. Margaret has followed in her famous mother's footsteps as she has also been on the September issue of Cosmo, back in 1982. Speaking of her mom Andie's cover shoot she described it as 'iconic' and it made her 'manifest' wanting to be on the magazine as well. She said: 'Ever since I was young, Cosmo has been the only magazine I've avidly read. I was reading this way before I'd had sex. It removed shame from sex. I realized that there's a world in which you can have fun and not be so embarrassed about it all.' Despite having a very famous mum in the industry, Margaret hit back at claims she is a nepo baby as she lived alone in New York 'terrified' from the age of 16. She said: 'It felt terrifying. I didn't have any friends. I didn't know anyone. If a guy got on the elevator, I would get off. I lived all of my 20s out of a suitcase, without any furniture. I had a mattress on the floor. And I became financially independent by the time I was 18, so I was super frugal, too.' It comes after Margaret appeared in Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler, which she talked her way into because she loves the original film. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress revealed her husband lied to Adam via text to bag her the role. 'I saw that there was an announcement, like, there's going to be a Happy Gilmore 2. And I emailed my agents right away. And I said, "Anything it takes. No part is too small. Please! I got to be a part of this. I beg of you, please, whatever it takes,' she admitted. Then at some point, Adam texted Jack, asking, 'Does your wife golf at all?' He replied, 'Yeah, she's actually good!' Adam replied, 'No way,' as the music producer asked, 'We talking 'Gilmore' or charity golf tournament?' The actor replied, 'Gilmore. might bug her for a couple days, funny thing. She'd be awesome.' Qualley admitted: 'What a good husband. And I can't golf. He lied for the sake of the family. Yeah.' As for the sport of golf, she admitted: 'Never golfed a day in my life. I'm terrible, actually.' She added that she went into a barn to hit some golf balls for the first time and she did take some lessons: 'But mostly I'm still bad.' When asked about the experience working with Adam, Margaret said: 'He's the best. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me.' She added that Sandler was her, 'first crush' and the original 1996 comedy classic Happy Gilmore is her, 'favorite movie,' adding Sandler is, 'the greatest of all time.'

Fans left split as ESPN hires TikTok star, 22, with 14 MILLION followers for new football coverage role

Football fans are divided after it was announced that ESPN will hire a recent college graduate with 14million followers to be a weekly contributor on College GameDay, Sunday NFL Countdown, and Monday Night Countdown. Katie Feeney, a social media influencer with a combined 14m followers across her TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels, has signed a deal with 'The Worldwide Leader in Sports' to focus on football-related content. Feeney, who just graduated from Penn State this past spring, will also have a starring role in the company's 'SportsCenter on Snapchat ' social media channel. The move, made public by ESPN's Adam Schefter has drawn significant criticism from core NFL fans due to the company letting go of major talent and journalists in 2025. Under the announcement one person wrote: 'This is why alternative networks, podcasts, and sports media brands are thriving. They are real and authentic. No football fan cares about "lifestyle" content.' Another post read: 'Talent means nothing in 2025 there are actors who can't get jobs because they don't have over 100k following on social media. ESPN firing talent left and right but NVM'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Katie Feeney (@katiefeeneyy) Another user said: 'When my ten year old daughter knows more about ESPN personalities than me means it's probably time to sign off with the former worldwide leader in sports...' Another wrote: 'There should be a masterclass course to teach how NOT to run a sports media conglomerate.' Others pointed to the new hire as a sign of the times - especially in a world where social media success has begun to dwarf traditional media. One said: 'The reminders and notices I'm old, just keep coming in lol. Just where the world is headed…social media success gets you in regular media. My kid was working as an IG recruiter for an ad company, and it took me a while to even understand what that meant.' Feeney announced the news from the Get Up! studio in New York on her Instagram and received congratulations from sports media stars like Jenny Taft, Kay Adams, and Haley Cavinder among others. Feeney, a Maryland native and the daughter of a state's attorney, began posting to TikTok back when it was known as in 2015. Since then, the now 22-year-old has gained fame on the platform as well as on Snapchat and YouTube shorts. Most of her posts consist of sports, travel, and lifestyle content. She's previously worked as a social media correspondent for the Washington Commanders and at the White House with AKSM Media. Feeney graduated from Penn State in May with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Part of the backlash Feeney received isn't directed at her hire per se, but the cut back of traditional journalists and shows at the company. Earlier this year, ESPN decided to stop producing 'Around the Horn' after over two decades on the air. ESPN has also parted ways with NBA analyst Jonathan Givony, longtime reporter Michele Steele, and SportsCenter anchor Stan Verrett who will leave at the end of the summer.
