
Two Northern Ireland eateries win prizes at Irish Restaurant Awards
The ceremony was held at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin on Monday, May 19. It was attended by over 1000 people from the hospitality industry, including chefs, managers, staff and owners.
The awards night followed regional awards ceremonies in the four provinces of Ireland, the winners of whom made up the nominees for the national awards.
Staff from multiple Northern Irish establishments were nominated for awards, including Laura Connolly of the Oak Room Restaurant at Derry's Ebrington Hotel, who was the Ulster nominee for the category of best restaurant manager.
Liam McKenna, of the Armagh City Hotel, was the Ulster nominee for the employee excellence award, while Noble, in Holywood, was nominated for best customer service.
Another Holywood establishment, Frae, was nominated for best casual dining, while Belfast's OX was shortlisted for the best wine experience.
The best restaurant award was won by Dede at the Customs House, in Baltimore, Co Cork, while John Kelly of the Lady Helen Restaurant at the Mount Juliet Estate in Co Kilkenny was named best chef.
Seán Collender, president of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, said: 'At a time when our industry continues to face significant challenges, it's more important than ever to come together and celebrate the strength of Ireland's food and hospitality sector.
'These Awards are about acknowledging the incredible talent and tireless work of those in our restaurants, cafés and kitchens across the country.
'They shine a light on the resilience and creativity that define our industry. Behind every meal served is a team of passionate professionals dedicated to delivering unforgettable experiences.

Figures uploaded to Companies House this week show the firm is £22,850 in the red for 2024 - following a £18,000 surplus last year. Annual accounts show the GB News host has creditors of almost £150,000 to pay. In addition, he also had a Corporation Tax rebate of £39,173 paid by HMRC. Eamonn has assets that make up some of the shortfall, which is why the firm is £20k+ in the red once that's taken into account. The Sun has approached Eamonn's rep for comment. The former This Morning host – who split from wife Ruth Langsford a year ago – continues to work despite a worsening health condition. The 65-year-old has been experiencing ongoing health issues, including chronic back pain - which he's attributed to slipped discs and a 2022 spinal surgery. Premier Forest Products wins Circle2Success Growth Award
Newport-based Premier Forest Products took home the Growth Award at the 2025 Circle2Success (C2S) Awards, which celebrate business excellence across the South West, South Wales and the Midlands. The award recognises businesses that have shown significant growth through increased revenue, expansion of services or product development. Terry Edgell, co-founder and chief executive at Premier Forest Products, said: "We're so pleased to be recognised in the prestigious C2S Awards 2025, especially in such a category.
