Dior Paris show is sweet relief for anyone wanting to flex a cooler muscle
Even Anna Wintour can only be in one place at a time. And rather than Paris, where Jonathan Anderson made his Dior debut on Friday, the most powerful person in fashion was in Venice for the Bezos/Sánchez wedding shortly after relinquishing her role as editor-in-chief at American Vogue.
But unlike the wedding of the year, Anderson's show proved to be sweet relief for anyone wanting to flex a cooler, chicer muscle. Perched on wooden cubes within the Cour du Dôme des Invalides sat plenty of VIP clout: Daniel Craig, Donatella Versace and Roger Federer. Most of the Arnault family, who own Dior and routinely joust with Jeff Bezos over who has more money, were present. Even Rihanna, pregnant in a Dior pastel waistcoat, was relatively punctual.
Anderson is known for his sharp eye and crafty, mercurial taste – few people have shaped the red carpet and ultimately the high street into the hype machine it is today. But Dior is a different challenge. As the first creative director of menswear and womenswear since Christian Dior himself, the designer needs to revamp LVMH's second biggest brand, with estimated revenues far greater than at his former label, Loewe.
'I can't stand here and say I'm not nervous, that it is not petrifying,' he said backstage before the show, wearing his trademark Levi's and a plaid Dior shirt. 'Dior is on billboards. It's on Rihanna. It's transcendent. But this is the starting point – I've been here four months, and the first five shows will show different aspects. Some will contradict; others will be completely radical.'
Some designers get critical acclaim, others sell a lot of clothes – a rare few have a talent to do both, but that's the hope with Anderson. Because of tariff wars and a decline in the luxury market, LVMH shares have halved from their 2023 peak. 'Delphine [Arnault] and I, we talked about changing the quality, about upping the game,' Anderson said.
Opening the show was a bar jacket in Donegal tweed. More interested in how a look is put together than the clothes themselves, Anderson styled it with a pair of thick cream cargo shorts cut from 15 metres of fabric and layered up like a Viennetta. Knitted vests were a through line, as were ties and neck ruffles, and plenty of colour – greens, pinks and blues. Dior, he says, is a house of colour, in part because it offsets the 'house grey' that features on billboards, Dior clothes labels he redesigned and the Parisian sky.
A puffer gilet was circularly cut and placed over a formal shirt, while summer coats and capes came knitted or in pleated bright colours. One was even based on an original Dior shape 'that would have cost the equivalent of a Ferrari', except here it was styled with trainers. There were even jeans – skinny and baggy, in indigo and green. The look was preppy and eccentric, with shades of Loewe, JW Anderson, and even Uniqlo in the puffers, among the classic Dior shapes.
On Anderson's original moodboard were Warholian images of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and the socialite Lee Radziwill, alongside classic Dior dresses such as the Delft and Cigale. The idea was to take each look into the present, 'to recontextualise it', he said. He even took his predecessor Maria Grazia Chiuri's book bag totes and put a 'new skin' on them, in the form of Dracula and Les Liaisons Dangereuses. It's these hyperspecific references that give Anderson's work a pleasing temporality, and will no doubt sell well – here at Dior, and whatever high street shop will no doubt copy him.

Anderson is the latest big name to arrive at an established brand. 'I'm not the only person going into a big house at the moment, but we need to let the dust settle,' he said, adding that he didn't 'want to chop it all down. It's just a continuation.'
A great believer in the Jim Jarmusch approach to art – steal, adapt, borrow – he said: 'Ownership in fashion is devastating. Copy [in design] is what you do. Because there will always be someone after you.'

EXCLUSIVE Flirty A-lister steals the show at Lauren Sanchez's wedding as Tom Brady makes bold play flanked by wingmen
and Jeff Bezos certainly pulled out all the stops during their $20 million Venetian wedding on Friday. But according to a source, there's an A-list star who may have stolen the show from the budding new bride. An insider told the Daily Mail that actress Sydney Sweeney, 27, was the 'most sought after person' during the festivities. 'Sydney apparently is the most sought-after person to be around at the Bezos wedding,' they shared. 'Everyone wants to talk to her and every guy that has been in her presence has talked about how stunning she is in real life.' Sydney, who confirmed her split from fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier this year, allegedly wowed guests with her 'down to Earth' and 'fun' personality, in addition to her stunning looks. According to reports, one star specifically had his sights set on Sydney: footballer Tom Brady. TMZ reported that Tom was 'chatting up' the Euphoria star at the hotel bar over the course of the multi-day lavish wedding extravaganza. 'Everyone wants to talk to her and every guy that has been in her presence has talked about how stunning she is in real life,' they said Tom has been spotted hanging out with newly-single Orlando Bloom, as well as Usher and Leonardo DiCaprio since he arrived in Venice, Italy, for the nuptials. 'She seems to be someone who hasn't been jaded by Hollywood yet,' the insider added. 'She is seen as very cool, and you can tell she's got on people's radars while out there. 'If she wants a new boyfriend, she can get it almost instantly.' Sydney wowed at Lauren and Jeff's wedding in a strapless pink dress that featured a ruched bodice. She styled her signature blonde locks with beachy waves. Details surrounding Sydney's friendship with the bride and groom remain unclear and naturally, many perplexed fans were left pondering her inclusion in the celebrations. The billionaire couple tied the knot on Friday on San Giorgio Maggiore island in front of a dazzling array of star-studded guests. Described as the 'wedding of a century,' the 61-year-old Amazon founder and the former journalist, 55, have welcomed nearly 200 VIPs to Venice for three days of lavish celebrations. According to reports, one star specifically had his sights set on Sydney: footballer Tom Brady Details surrounding Sydney's friendship with the bride and groom remain unclear and naturally many perplexed fans are pondering her inclusion in the celebrations. She's seen in Venice Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, Usher, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Kris Jenner were among the other stars who have traveled to Italian city to watch the couple exchange vows - two years after Bezos asked Sanchez to marry him on his $500 million superyacht. Lauren took to Instagram moments after saying 'I do' to show off her glamorous Dolce & Gabbana gown. She shared a photo that showed her and Jeff beaming from ear to ear together, as he wrapped his arm lovingly around her waist. The dress contained lacy, floral sleeves, a tight bodice, high neckline, long flowing skirt with an enormous train, and buttons down the front.

Eva Longoria misses pal Lauren Sanchez's star-studded wedding
About 200 guests - including a whole host of A-list celebrities and tech moguls - attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez 's wedding earlier today. Among them was Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brady, Leonardo DiCaprio, Usher, and more. But a few celebs were noticeably absent from the days-long festivities that the now-married couple hosted in Venice, Italy. Eva Longoria, who has been friends with Sanchez for more than 20 years - and even attended the former journalist's Paris bachelorette party earlier this year - was one of the celebrities who did not end up attending the wedding. Longoria was instead photographed on a beach in Spain (one of the countries her family splits its time in) just a few days prior to the wedding, and fans assumed she would be heading over to the festivities afterwards. But, while Sanchez and Bezos were saying 'I do,' Longoria not only wasn't in attendance but she was also reposting Instagram Reels of people discussing mass deportations occurring in the U.S. and how the government is targeting Latino communities. Longoria's lack of attendance comes as a surprise as she was gushing over the bride at her bachelorette party. 'I had to pop in and out, so I wasn't there as long,' she told People after the party. 'But yeah, it's so nice to celebrate love. It's just the best feeling in the world to be there and go, "Yay, love."' Longoria and Sanchez both have Mexican roots, something the actress emphasized when once ironically saying, 'In the Mexican culture, we never miss a baptism, a birthday, a baby shower, a wedding shower, a wedding. 'You must show up. Otherwise, you'll be in big trouble.' has contacted Eva's representatives for comment. But Eva wasn't the only no show among Sanchez's inner circle because Katy Perry, who was also in attendance at her bachelorette party, was another absentee. Perry's absence comes in the midst of a newly-announced breakup between her and Orlando Bloom - though rumors had been swirling about the couple going through rough times for quite some time prior. Perry and Bloom ended their relationship after being together for nine years. The ex-couple share four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom together. Bloom did happen to go to the wedding though, and was photographed hugging and greeting Kim Kardashian - another one of Sanchez's bachelorette squad - upon her arrival to Venice. Despite not attending, Perry showed her support to Sanchez by leaving a sweet message on her Instagram post sharing her wedding celebration outfit Sanchez also sent a sweet message back, saying 'We miss you Katy' While Longoria has not yet acknowledged her friend's wedding, Perry on the other hand did leave a sweet message on a picture Sanchez posted of one of her wedding looks. 'WAIT THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE LEWK,' Perry commented under the photo. Sanchez had returned the favor, commenting on one of Perry's Instagram posts: 'We miss you, Katy.' The left that comment in the midst of the three-day long festivities, including a pre-wedding dinner. Although it was revealed that the couple was already legally married, their wedding took place on June 27 and included live music by Matteo Bocelli. Sanchez and her husband will conclude the rest of their wedding celebration on Saturday, June 28.

You know you really are in billionaire territory when a 30-carat ring doesn't cut it: ALISON BOSHOFF on the inside story of the Bezos wedding
The gospel choir sang Steve Winwood's Higher Love, the bride wore a brand new diamond ring and the groom was safely delivered by water taxi. In an event which was simultaneously wildly elite and deeply tacky, and amid heavy security, with a strong police presence and dozens of private ex-services bodyguards, Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos exchanged vows with his second wife, Lauren Sanchez. His first marriage, to mousy Mackenzie Scott, was a quiet affair at the Breakers Hotel in Florida 's Palm Beach in 1993. This ceremonial nuptial (the legal end having been concluded some time ago) was instead a spectacle for the world, hyped as 'the wedding of the century'. It took place in the 'green theatre', a renovated amphitheatre in a forest situated on the Venetian island of San Giorgio Maggiore, where the Cini Foundation runs a museum and art galleries on the site of a former monastery. The forest was transformed into an enchanted garden, with lanterns, flowers, chandeliers, and tables laid out alongside the maze. And by the time the celebrities, politicians and business titans had arrived for the spectacle, one thing was sure: nobody bought the rumour that Bezos was getting out of this spending a measly $5 million any more. Indeed, to emphasise the billionaire-ness of it all, before the exchange of rings between bride and groom Sanchez had done another exchange of rings of her own. Her 30-carat $3 million pink diamond, presented by Bezos when he asked her to marry him two years ago, had been switched to her right hand... and in its place a yet larger, brilliant-white diamond, estimated at 35 carats and worth $8-$10 million. You know that you are moving with the 0.001 per cent when a 30-carat diamond isn't quite up to the occasion. The socking great diamond upgrade rather gives lie to earlier claims that their three-day wedding is a simple – virtually low-budget – affair for close friends and family only. In fact there were more celebrities than anyone had predicted, from Leonardo DiCaprio and Oprah to the Kardashians and Sydney Sweeney. And of course, as revealed by the Mail yesterday, the couple actually got legally married quietly over a month ago, which is why no wedding licence has been taken out by them in Venice. Promptly at 4.30pm local time, around two hours before her guests started to arrive for the ceremony, Sanchez hopped into a water taxi and headed for San Giorgio Maggiore. She wore a Dior cream skirt suit, a silk 'Brides de Gala en Fleurs' Hermes headscarf and carried a Hermes Kelly bag in black crocodile – and appeared in high spirits, blowing kisses to photographers. Nine minutes later she was being helped ashore, and disappeared from view to get ready. It is a look synonymous with the likes of sophisticated vintage film stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Sophie Loren and Jackie O Lauren put her best fashion foot forward as she completed her chic ensemble with printed headscarf, elegantly wrapped around her chocolate caramel tresses and a pair of classic black Celine sunglasses, along with a black croc-print handbag She was attended by a glam squad of at least five: make-up artists Buster Knight and Laura Mele, hair stylist Sophie Rose and stylist Robbie Gutterman. Samuel Horowitz, who works for Dolce & Gabbana, was on hand to help her into her wedding dress which was created by the pair. The designers, famous for their corseted dresses, are friends of the bride. She was seen visiting their shop in Milan in late April, apparently for a fitting. In a photo uploaded to Instagram by Sanchez, the bride showed off her stunning wedding dress, which contained lacy, floral sleeves, a tight bodice, high neckline, long flowing skirt with an enormous train, and buttons down the front. The glamorous, figure-hugging number showcased her stunning physique. The blushing new bride's long brown tresses were pulled back behind a vail and she wore striking makeup. Her new husband, for his part, donned a chic black tuxedo. Sanchez also posed in the exquisite wedding dress for a pre-wedding photoshoot with Vogue magazine. While chatting with the publication, she recalled feeling like a 'princess' during her dress fitting, which took place in Milan, Italy. 'It was more powerful than I thought,' she added of the moment she put it on for the first time. Her groom arrived two hours later, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana tux, sunglasses, and a beaming smile. During the ceremony guests were serenaded by tenor Matteo Bocelli, son of operatic legend Andrew. Afterwards, there was a dinner by candlelight and chandelier, with huge displays of dendrobium orchids and roses, followed by fireworks. Police were advised that the party was due to break up between 3am and 4am. Local sources say the menu included Spaghetti alla Nerano prepared by Fabrizio Mellino, the chef at Quattro Passi, the 3-star Michelin restaurant located in the picturesque fishing village of Nerano, on the Sorrento Peninsula. It's a family recipe, first created in 1952 and there are three basic ingredients: thick Gragnano handmade spaghetti, fried zucchini and grated provolone cheese. To follow, a top pastry boutique in Minori near Amalfi called Sal De Riso, prepared 'a thousand portions of desserts': mignon pastries, sweets by the glass and single portions of lemon and ricotta and pear delights. There was a wedding cake, of course, baked by the renowned chef Cedric Grolet, the executive pastry chef at Le Meurice in Paris. During the day, newly single actor Orlando Bloom ducked away from the paparazzi to hang out with former American football star Tom Brady, who is the ex husband of Gisele Bundchen. The two men seem to have struck up a strong bond over the days long wedding. On Thursday night Bloom gallantly helped his old friend, socialite Dasha Zhukova (once married to Roman Abramovich) into a water taxi, and was spotted with his arm around Hollywood stylist Jamie Mizrahi. He has known both women for years, and both are married, but that hasn't stopped speculation Bloom is perhaps not all that broken-hearted over the end of his nine-year romance with pop's Katy Perry. Perry, who is on a break during the Australian leg of her tour, was sent a consoling message by Lauren Sanchez who posted: 'We miss you Katy' on her Instagram. Bezos and Sanchez have seven children between them, and all attended the wedding, as did the father of her son Nikko, Tony Gonzalez, and his wife Tobie. Tobie Gonzalez and Sanchez are so close that she came to her hen party in Paris last month. And that's not the end of the festivities – there will be a gala party at the Arsenale in Venice tonight, followed by a smaller post-event brunch pyjama party.
