RCMP seizes nearly 150 grams of crack cocaine; Winnipeg man arrested

A Winnipeg man is facing several charges after RCMP officers made a 'significant' drug seizure that included fentanyl and crack cocaine.
On Tuesday, Mounties arrested a 32-year-old man who was found to be in possession of 147 grams of crack cocaine, 70 pills believed to be fentanyl and other pills that are thought to be Percocet/Oxycontin. Police noted that all the drugs were packaged for individual sale.
RCMP then searched a home in Winnipeg, where they found Canadian money as well as cellphones.
The 32-year-old man is facing numerous drug offences, including charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and cocaine. A 28-year-old Winnipeg man was also arrested for possession of cocaine and was later released.
The charges come after a months-long investigation that began in March.
The investigation continues.

Two Ontario men have admitted to kidnapping a Calgary teenager from a local movie theatre and holding her for 34 hours while proof-of-life photos were sent to the 19-year-old victim's family. The men, Raejean Hudson and Enyi-Egbe Idedevbo travelled from Vancouver to kidnap the victim, with a promise to be paid $80,000. CBC News will call the young woman LE in order to comply with a publication ban. On Friday, Hudson and Idedevbo pleaded guilty to kidnapping and were handed four-and-a-half year sentences by Justice Margaret Keelaghan after a joint submission was proposed by defence lawyers Andrea Urquhart and Jeanine Zahara and prosecutors Donna Spaner and Katherine Love. 'No idea why she was being abducted' With credit for the time they've already served, the pair have about two years left in custody. Court heard that on April 29, 2023, Hudson and Idedevbo travelled from Vancouver to Calgary to kidnap a member of the "E" family, according to an agreed statement of facts (ASF) filed as part of the plea. The victim was not involved in any criminal activity, according to the ASF. "At the time she was kidnapped, she was unaware that she was related to anyone who was," read the statement. "She had no idea why she was being abducted." On top of a cut of the ransom money, the two men had been promised that "if they did 'good' work there was additional lucrative work that would be available to them," the statement said. Hudson and Idedevbo had been told that the point of the kidnapping "was to get drug trafficking product returned to whomever had hired them," according to the ASF. Rented Airbnb At least four people were involved in the kidnapping, but only Hudson and Idedevbo have been identified. Three days after they arrived in Calgary, the men tracked LE down at a local theatre. They pulled up beside her vehicle in the parking lot and when she exited the theatre, just after 6 p.m., the men grabbed LE as she approached her car, forcing her into the back of their Hyundai Santa Fe. The men took LE to the basement of a rented Airbnb. LE's eyes were covered in duct tape, but she could see black plastic covering the walls and floors. Her wrists and ankles were also duct-taped. One of the men recorded LE while another held an unlit butane torch in front of her face. Proof-of-life video That video and other "proof-of-life" photos and videos were sent to LE's family, including her brother, making the ransom demand. At some point during the kidnapping the victim was forced to undress and some of her jewlery was stolen. The agreed facts don't make it clear why LE was released, but after 34 hours, she was dropped off at the intersection of Glenmore Trail and Range Road 282. Police quickly located the young woman, who was physically uninjured. LE has suffered serious psychological harm. She has been unable to work and has dropped out of school.

Group of boys, ages 14 and 15, assaulted and stabbed man in Riverdale, police say
Toronto police are searching for a group of 14- and 15-year-old boys who allegedly stabbed a man in his 20s at a park in Riverdale early Saturday morning. Police said they got a stabbing call around 12:47 a.m. at Withrow Park near Carlaw and Bain avenues. A group of teenagers setting off fireworks in the area got into a verbal altercation with a man, police said. The group allegedly assaulted and stabbed the man before running north towards Danforth Avenue. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening stab wounds. Police told CP24 that there were at least four teens involved who were last seen wearing all dark clothing and face masks. City of Ottawa employee charged after National Holocaust Monument vandalized, mayor says

Red paint was discovered on the monument just west of downtown Ottawa on June 9. A photo sent to CTV News Ottawa showed the words 'Feed Me' painted in large red letters on the monument. The Ottawa Police Service announced Friday a 46-year-old man was charged with mischief to a war memorial, mischief exceeding $5,000 and harassment by threatening conduct. The name of the suspect was not released. In a post on social media Saturday evening, Sutcliffe said the suspect is a city employee. 'While it's encouraging to see that the police investigation into the incident at the National Holocaust Monument has progressed, I'm very disturbed to learn that the person charged is a city employee who was on leave,' Sutcliffe said. 'As a community and as an employer, the actions at the Monument do not represent our values. I've asked city officials to take all appropriate action in light of these developments.' The suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. The Ottawa Police Service says anyone with information is asked to contact investigators with the Hate and Bias Crime Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5625. 'The OPS treats incidents of this nature seriously and recognizes their profound impact on the community,' police said in a media release on Friday. 'We encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police. Reporting hate-motivated incidents is an important step in stopping cycles of hatred.' According to the National Holocaust Monument website, the monument in Ottawa commemorates the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions of other victims of Nazi Germany and its collaborators. The monument was inaugurated by former prime minister Justin Trudeau in September 2017.
