Arteta is confident Arsenal will be in the mix – on course to spend £200m in the transfer window – but explained: 'It is getting more and more competitive each year.
'The level is increasing. We know that so our demands have to increase as well.
'Every year we have to see how things develop but I see the right balance in terms of maturity, experience, youth, hunger and all these ingredients are there.
'The thing is there are another six, seven, eight clubs in the league that have the right ingredients to win and there is only going to be one winner.

'So, we have to focus a lot on the things that we can control, that we can do, to achieve what we want at the end of the season.'

And Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres - as well as Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera - are both on the verge of joining for a combined £80m.
Arsenal have targeted elite match-winners in the market so far, having also fallen short in the Champions League with an agonising semi-final defeat to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain back in May.
Arteta continued: 'The only thing that [the players] were talking about at the end of last season and the first day back through the door is 'OK, how are we going to be better?'
'How are we going to do more? We know that we are so close now in two big competitions and we just want to make the next step.
'There are going to be a lot of details and moments that have to go our way. We have to push for that to happen.
'We have been very active in the market, but we have to improve the players we already have, which is a massive objective.
'And then, set the right fundamentals and the right principles in pre-season to get the team ready with the best possible shape and availability to start the season.'

Zubimendi and Madueke were described as
But Arteta is not keen on this classification, admitting that last season's struggles with long-term injuries to key players – such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz – has opened his eyes to the bigger picture.
He said: 'The Tier 1, 2, 3 system, I don't believe in that much now. I'll change it.
'The way the game's evolving, the demands we put in with 70, 75 games per season, we want to build a team, like other clubs already have.
'When you look at the squad and you cannot really identify who is going to play, if you get to that point, that's what we want.
'Last year, the line-up was: 'Give me five players who can finish 90 minutes'. We played like this for seven months. We need to get away from that.
'Those restrictions limited our capacity to perform and then have the freshness that we need at the end of the season. Hopefully this season is going to be very different.'

The 6ft 2in ace crashed in 97 goals and 102 appearances for the Lisbon side, including a stunning Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City last season. Gyokeres now fills a gaping hole in Arsenal's front line. With Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz both out injured during the second half of last season, boss Arteta frequently had to play midfielder Mikel Merino as a makeshift No9. The Spaniard has now landed the combative, prolific front man that he so desired. Gyokeres is the sixth signing of what has been a busy summer window at the Emirates. Calandagan finally wins his big one as he comes from last to first in the King George at Ascot
CALANDAGAN has been called lots of names over the last 12 months, not many of them nice. Well, now he'll forever be known as a King George winner after a performance which silenced the doubters in no uncertain terms. Advertisement 1 Calandagan (11-10f) won a King George thriller at Ascot Credit: Getty The horse who long seemed destined to go down as one of the game's great bridesmaids had every opportunity to throw in the towel when Kalpana quickened away and push came to shove. He could have folded like a cheap suit when asked to make a lung-busting run after the filly who'd got first run and was getting 3lb, or hoisted the white flag when eye-balling her in the heat of battle. Instead, he dug deeper than the Channel Tunnel to give his burgeoning trainer Francis-Henri Graffard — a coming force on the world stage — his second King George in a row. Magnifique. Not so the Ballydoyle tactics, which even left Graffard and winning jockey Mickael Barzalona scratching their heads. Advertisement Here they had the 5-2 second favourite in Jan Brueghel, a horse with abundant stamina who outstayed Calandagan at Epsom two months ago and for whom a strong, end-to-end gallop was vital. Everyone expected the 40-1 rag Continuous to set off on his usual pace-making duties to ensure it wasn't a tactical race. Puzzlingly, he was dropped in behind his stablemate and they ended up going a crawl as Jan Brueghel did the donkey work. It made little sense — not that Barzalona was complaining. He was on the horse with the best turn of foot, so he must have been licking his lips. Mind you, Andrew Balding's fine filly Kalpana showed an impressive burst of her own as she kicked for home at the two-furlong pole. Advertisement Most read in Horse Racing Exclusive Exclusive Oisin Murphy moved up going strongly as Jan Brueghel struggled to go through the gears as the pace lifted before she suddenly exploded two or three lengths clear. It looked for the best part of a furlong that Calandagan would be unable to reel her in but, as all the top-class ones do, he quickened once, quickened twice and was going away by a length at the line. He was second in the Juddmonte International, Champion Stakes, Sheema Classic and Coronation Cup — but he's the Chantilly shirker no more. Graffard said: 'I never had any doubts about his will to win, when he's been beaten he has had excuses. Advertisement 'He was really far back at York last year and he quickened really strongly, probably too late. He was beaten by a good horse in Dubai and at Epsom things didn't go to plan. 'I never thought it was because he didn't want to try and his jockeys have never reported that to me either. 'This is the fifth time Mickael has ridden him, he has been getting to know him and knows what to do on him now. There is no doubt anymore about the horse.' In hindsight, maybe Murphy could have held on for a few more seconds on Kalpana before committing her for home. But Balding was chuffed with the run as she continues to build towards her D-Day in the Arc. Advertisement He said: 'I'm very proud of her, she's run her heart out again and just been beaten by a good horse. We'll work back from the Arc, now.' It looks like the Juddmonte International at York is next on the agenda for Calandagan, where a mouthwatering showdown with Field Of Gold awaits. Tres bien. Diogo Jota immortalised at Anfield as Liverpool FC unveil lasting tribute
Liverpool FC have confirmed that a permanent tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva will be introduced at Anfield in the near future. Diogo and Andre were both tragically killed in a car accident at the beginning of this month and tributes have been pouring in for the brothers ever since. Diogo wore the number 20 for Liverpool and that shirt was recently retired by the club to honour his legacy. Thousands have paid tribute to Diogo and Andre. Pic: Peter Byrne/PA After consulting with Diogo's family, Liverpool confirmed that no member of a team across all levels of the club would wear the number 20 out of respect. Since the two Portuguese footballers died, thousands of physical tributes such as flowers, scarves, works of art, cards, banners and opposition jerseys have been placed to create a beautiful memorial at Anfield. The area was used by thousands, including Liverpool's squad and staff along with their friends and family, to pay their respects to the brothers. The thousands of physical tributes outside Anfield have been gradually removed over the course of the last week and carefully separated and safely stored. Floral tributes will then be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre.y Diogo wore the number 20 for Liverpool and that shirt was recently retired by the club to honour his legacy. In the meantime, a temporary area of reflection has been created at Anfield so people can continue to pay their respects. Supporters that want to honour Diogo by getting his name and number on the back of a jersey can do so in official club stores or via their official online store and all profits will go to LFC Foundation, the club's official charity. Pic: PA The Foundation has committed to creating a grassroots football programme in Diogo's name. Supporters will also have the chance to pay their respects during all of Liverpool's pre-season games, including their return to Anfield on August 4 for a double-header against Spanish side Athletic Club. For two pre-season games that are happening in Asia, the players' shirts will include a specially designed patch that will display 'Diogo J. 20'. A floral tribute will also be laid before kick-off at the games in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield. When Liverpool's new kits are launched on August 1, players will display their own tribute with a specially made 'Forever 20' emblem printed into their shirts and stadium jackets, which will remain in place for the entire season. The main commemoration, including a special fan mosaic and a minute of silence, is being planned for the first game of the Premier League season, against Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday August 15. Liverpool stated that they are expressing their 'heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has taken the time, and continues to take the time, to leave tributes in honour of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva at Anfield'.
