'No other party involved' in shock Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley marriage split
Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have insisted there is no one else involved in their separation – as the couple announce their shock split after 13 years together. The couple, who wed in September 2012 at a ceremony in Rome, announced they had separated in a joint statement on Tuesday. But the pair, who have two boys together, Milo, eight and James, five, insist there is 'no other party involved'. They said in a joint statement to the PA news agency: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. A spokesman told the Mail at the time that Cat was at home minding their two children. The couple recently purchased a new home in London after moving back to England from LA. They bought a €5.7 million (£4.9 million) property in Hampstead, North London, which they were in the middle of renovating. They were reportedly aiming to create a "west coast-inspired" home, drawing on mid-century modern architecture, with Cat sharing some details of their renovation on their home on her Instagram stories. The couple's architect told the MailOnline: "The proposed external appearance builds on the inherent character of the existing house but updates it into a contemporary dwelling both in use and character. "It is inspired by mid-twentieth design ranging from the designs of Alvar Aalto to houses of the west coast of America which are familiar to the clients who spent many years living there. When completed, the lavish home will also boast of a "nanny suite" guest room, his and hers dressing rooms, a children's play area and its very own bar. Last year, Patrick revealed he contracted shingles from doing a loft renovation in their home. Their neighbours would've included the likes of Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Thompson and Daniel Craig. But the news of their split will come as a shock to many. Cat and Patrick seemed like a couple in love after Patrick flew to LA to profess his love for her over a brunch on her birthday. Cat and Patrick met in 2002 whilst they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy - but the couple weren't wed until 10 years later. Cat previously opened up about the romantic gesture that wooed her over, and 'knocked her socks off'. "It was my birthday and he'd rung me, he was at a pub in Ireland and he'd rung me from the pub. "Bear in mind it was probably about 2 o'clock in the morning because they'd had a lock-in." Cat told him she was having a birthday brunch at Beverly Hills Hotel, to which he said: "I'll see you there!" She continued: "He went home, set his alarm for five, got up, went to the airport, flew from Belfast to London, then jumped on the first plane from London to LA, got in a cab, told the cabbie on his way from the airport what he was doing, and the driver was literally like 'do you want me to wait for you?!'" In an interview on This Morning, Patrick revealed he had "no regrets" about taking so long to romance Cat. Speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford he said things happened exactly as they should: "If we had got together at the start, we could have got on one another's nerves. Patrick Kielty's grand gesture that won over Cat Deeley as couple announce split
RTÉ Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty and British TV presenter Cat Deeley shocked fans on Tuesday as they announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage. The couple, who share two children, released a joint statement on Tuesday confirming the sad news. "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated," they said. "There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family's privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment." Kielty and Deeley first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however, the pair's relationship remained purely platonic until a grand romantic gesture from the Irish comedian eventually swept Deeley off her feet. "Since we did [TV show] Fame Academy and all that. We would always call each other on birthdays or Christmas, or we'd see each other occasionally or whatever it was," Deeley told then-Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy. "Anyway, there was a night where it was the day before my birthday. I can't even remember what birthday it was now! It was 30-something. Anyway, he called me and he spoke to me on the phone. He said, 'Oh, what are you doing for your birthday? I'm just ringing to say happy birthday'. "I said, 'Oh, we're going to the Beverly Hills Hotel. We're just going to have a late brunch; it's going to be very civilised. It's a shame you're not here, otherwise you could come'. And he was like, 'Well, eh - I'll be there'. "Now, bear in mind at this point, Ryan, he was at the Maghera Inn down the end of the road," Deeley continued. "And in Ireland I think it was approximately three o'clock in the morning, so I wasn't too sure! I was like, 'Yeah, yeah, sure you will. Sure you will, Charlie Big Bananas, sure you'll be there! I'll hold you a seat, how about that? "Anyway, I didn't know this, but he basically stumbled home from the pub, set an alarm clock, booked a flight to go back to Heathrow - I think the first flight out. He set his alarm for five, first flight out was seven to land into Heathrow at eight to get on the 9:30 flight to fly to LA. The cabbie was like, 'Are you sure you don't want me to wait? I can wait for you. I can wait. That'll be ok'. He's like, 'No, no! It's good, it's good!' "[He] Walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel, dropped his bag at concierge and walked in. At which point I fell off my seat. And he then proceeded to be utterly charming to everybody around the table. Everybody slightly fell in love with him. As did I. And he didn't go home for 10 days." Kielty is a self-confessed "born romantic" and ahead of hosting his first Late Late Show Valentine's special last year, the TV presenter opened up about 'following his heart' and flying to Los Angeles to surprise Deeley for lunch. 'I am an absolute born romantic… If I'd a quid for every rom-com I've cried at," he said at the time. 'I followed my heart all the way to Los Angeles to surprise my now wife for lunch. Twelve years and two kids later, I think it worked out.' Kielty and Deeley went public with their relationship in May 2012 and the couple secretly tied the knot in September of that year with their close family and friends present. They welcomed their eldest son Milo in January 2016, and their second son James Patrick in June 2018. RTE's 13-word statement on Patrick Kielty's Late Late fate amid marriage split
RTÉ has confirmed Patrick Kielty is set to return as host of The Late Late Show in September amid his marriage woes. Patrick and Cat Deeley left fans shocked on Tuesday when the pair announced their marriage split after 13 years together. Patrick and Cat live in London with their two boys, James, 8 and five-year-old Milo. A spokesman for RTÉ confirmed the comedian will be back on our screens in September, saying: 'RTÉ looks forward to Patrick returning to the Late Late Show in September.' Patrick had previously confirmed he had signed a three-season deal with the national broadcaster. The dad-of-two said after his announcement as host of the show that he will be paying for all of his flights and accommodation himself. Confirming he will be paid €250,000 per season, Kielty said he was due to receive €20,000 to cover rehearsals and preparation before starting on the show. He revealed before his debut as Late Late host: "I'm pleased to finally be able to share that I've signed a three-season deal to host The Late Late Show beginning this September. 'I'm being paid €250,000 per 30-show season. If additional shows are requested by RTÉ, they'll be paid on a pro-rata basis. 'I'm also receiving a one-off payment of €20,000 to cover the pre-production and rehearsals from now to September. "The contract allows me to submit flight and accommodation expenses, but I've waived this. "I've made it clear to RTE that I will be covering my own flights and accommodation costs. 'I've also asked RTÉ to carbon offset my flights. I genuinely hope this helps clarify things going forward. I can't wait to get started."
