Alleged road rage shooter admits to an altercation with driver on I-70 West

Just after 7 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the area of I-70 West and the Hague Road exit after receiving reports of a driver shot. The caller, who was also the victim, gave police a description and license plate of a vehicle, a gold Chevrolet Equinox, which reportedly fled the scene north on Hague Rd.
Police found the victim, who was driving a black Ford F-150 pickup truck, and a witness reported seeing the driver of the Equinox fire at the victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
With the help of Accurint technology, police traced the car to an address on Andurs Avenue in Whitehall, where Pittman was found and taken into custody. Pittman admitted to police he was involved in an altercation and driving alongside someone driving a Ford F-150 on I-70 West.
A Franklin County Municipal Court judge issued Pittman, arrested Tuesday and charged with felonious assault, a $500,000 bond and ordered him to next appear in court on April 25 for a preliminary hearing. A motion for a temporary order of protection was also granted.
A Columbus city spokesperson said Pittman, who was working for the city as an employee of a subcontractor hired for the city's Enhanced Meter Project, is 'no longer employed on this project.' The Columbus Department of Public Utilities said Pittman was employed by VEPO, which is under contract with Sensus, the prime contractor for the city's meter project.
The victim, who identified himself to NBC4 as Jesse Morris, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He said he has a hole in his lower jaw and that doctors had to pick shrapnel out of his face.
The shooting happened as he was on the way to a chemotherapy appointment, according to Morris, who will need another surgery as a result of the shooting.

Man shot, seriously injured while driving down Barton Street
A shooting in Hamilton's east end left a man seriously injured Saturday. Police say the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. when the male victim, driving a Ford F-150 west on Barton Street East near Harmony Avenue, was shot at by two suspects on foot. The suspects fled south while the victim drove to the nearby Centre on Barton to call police. Acting Staff Sgt. Alexis Petrovic said officers found the male victim in the driver's seat of his truck. He was taken to hospital in serious condition and later underwent emergency surgery, she added. His current condition is unknown. Police were still at the scene as of 9 p.m. as detectives canvassed for witnesses and surveillance video. Surrounding three cruisers near the Shopper's Drug Mart was yellow tape that spanned a few dozen parking spots. Police are asking residents in the area of Barton, Frederick Avenue, Tragina Avenue North, Britannia Avenue and Harmony Avenue to check their surveillance footage for sightings of the two suspects who fled. Deputy and wife die as driver fleeing drug house crashes head-on, MO cops say
A man has been charged with murder two days after an off-duty deputy and his wife were killed in a head-on crash, Missouri authorities say. The 4-month-old grandchild of Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams and his wife, Ashley Adams, was the only occupant inside their minivan to survive the June 30 crash in Highlandville, according to the Christian County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said 40-year-old Garrett Grimm Cleaver was seen driving away from a known drug house, and a deputy tried pulling him over because his headlights were not working. Cleaver fled from the deputy, who lost sight of the driver's Ford F-150, according to a probable cause statement. The deputy then came upon the scene of a devastating crash, as the F-150 had crashed into a Honda minivan, authorities said. A witness to the 9 p.m. crash provided video that showed the F-150 going airborne, court records show. After it landed, the truck left the roadway, fishtailed and struck the minivan head-on. Ashley Adams and Mike Adams, a 52-year-old deputy with the Christian County Sheriff's Office, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Deputies said their grandchild was hospitalized 'in stable but serious condition' with head injuries. Cleaver was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated fleeing a stop resulting in death, one count of aggravated fleeing a stop resulting in physical injury and one count of second-degree assault, according to a July 2 news release. According to the court documents, Cleaver has an 'extensive criminal history,' including a conviction for vehicular homicide. An Air Force veteran, Mike Adams joined the Christian County Sheriff's Office in 2022, the agency said. Previously, he worked for the Scott County Sheriff's Office and Mississippi County Sheriff's Office. 'Mike was one of those guys that no matter what the situation was, or he was asked to do, you could count on him,' Sheriff Brad Cole said in a statement. 'The loss of Deputy Adams and his wife is a profound tragedy for our agency and the entire community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.' Highlandville is about a 190-mile drive southeast from Kansas City.
