PETRA KVITOVA will appear at Wimbledon for the final time after announcing plans to retire at the end of the tennis year.
The Czech ace won the singles Championship in south-west London on two occasions, in 2011 and 2014, and is a member of the All England Club.

The 35-year-old was handed a wildcard for the 2025 Championships as she has dropped down to 572nd in the world rankings.
Her inactivity can be explained by the fact she gave birth to son Petr in July 2024 and she has only won one of her seven matches this calendar year.
Kvitova will say goodbye to the sport following the conclusion of the US Open – where she has twice made the quarter-finals – and it is fair to assume New York chiefs will hand her a wildcard, too.

Gyokeres played at Brighton and Coventry before moving to Portugal , while United have also been linked with Aston Villa's World Cup-winning keeper Emi Martinez. By contrast, other than the £55m paid out to land injury-plagued Mason Mount - and Amorim will have his fingers crossed the midfielder can have a full season of availability - in 2023, the past few years have all been about trawling the global market rather than scouring and scouting closer to home. If going the 'proven Prem' route does not bring success either - although, after last term, keeping Amorim for the entire campaign, maybe winning the Carabao Cup and securing European football might be a new definition of success - then it will be evidence for the prosecution. Amorim promised things would be better - and such vows can come back to bite. The trouble is that Amorim has inherited a squad that is simply not designed for the tactics and formation he is wedded to. Marcus Rashford to Barcelona is most intriguing move all summer – leaving Manchester goldfish bowl could save his career

ONLY one Englishman has played competitive football for Barcelona in the last 100 years. When Gary Lineker arrived at the Nou Camp in 1986, he had just won the World Cup Golden Boot and was about to finish runner-up in the Ballon d'Or. 10 Marcus Rashford's move to Barcelona is the most intriguing in recent memory Credit: Getty 10 Rashford will be only the second Englishman to play for Barcelona in over 100 years, following Gary Lineker Credit: Getty 10 Rashford has a chance to reignite his career at the spiritual home of the beautiful game Credit: Getty He would go on to score a hat-trick in El Clasico, lift a European trophy and win the Copa del Rey. So the fact that Marcus Rashford is about to become only the second Englishman in the modern era to play at the spiritual home of the beautiful game is perhaps the most intriguing move of the summer. Rashford, the member of Manchester United's unwanted 'bomb squad'. READ MORE SPORT STORIES Rashford, whose form has fallen off a cliff. Rashford, whose once-saintly reputation has fallen from the clouds. During the pandemic, Rashford earned an MBE for his campaigning work against child poverty and hunger. Earlier in the summer, Rashford had been openly touting himself for a move to Barca. Marcus Rashford says he wants to play with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona in transfer plea He was talking up the prospect of playing alongside Lamine Yamal, the most thrilling teenage footballer in the world. And it all sounded like wishful thinking, like some weird shisha-pipe dream. So news that Barca After Amorim's damning public comments, Rashford sealed a loan move to Aston Villa, where he performed pretty well, playing in a Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain - assisting the goal which won Villa the second leg but still left them a goal shy of winning the tie. There was enough in that Villa loan spell to prompt Thomas Tuchel to select Rashford in his first England team in March and to persuade Barca that Rashford is worth a punt, on loan with an option to buy next summer. There is a feeling that Rashford could benefit from being out of the Manchester goldfish bowl, yet playing for Barca brings extreme demands. Before Jude Bellingham's first Clasico appearance for Real Madrid in 2023, Lineker told me: 'We think Premier League footballers operate under a lot of pressure, and they do, but it's nothing compared to playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid. 'When I was at Barcelona, it was a middle-class crowd - most working-class people couldn't afford to go. 'The Socios, who owned shares in the club, formed a lot of the crowd and for them it was like going to the opera or ballet - they sat back and expected to be entertained. 'In a bog-standard Spanish league game it could be very quiet and if you started badly, after 15 minutes they could get on your back and start whistling at you. While things have changed a little, it's still largely true.' 10 So Rashford hasn't taken an easy option here. He has also taken a 15 per cent cut on his £320,000 weekly United wage. This is a man still determined to prove himself at the very top. Joining Barcelona, even on loan, is a significant step up from United - who will play no European football this coming season. And on October 26, he has the chance to play in the greatest club fixture on Earth, against Real in the Bernabeu in the first Clasico of the season - a match which may also feature his England team-mates Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Just two years ago, Rashford was one of United's few reliable players and a regular England starter. At the age of 27, his peak may still be to come. There would be no greater place to realise his full potential than at Barcelona. But, as the only Englishman to have played for Barca in the last century has warned, there are few tougher places to win over your audience. Paul Casey hails Hannah Tyrrell's nerve as Dublin book All-Ireland final clash with Meath

DUBLIN'S Paul Casey hailed Hannah Tyrrell after they booked their TG4 All-Ireland final slot. Tyrrell ensured it finished level in normal time on Saturday in Tullamore before the Dubs took down Galway. 2 Dublin joint manager Paul Casey hailed Hannah Tyrrell for her impact during the win 2 Tyrrell starred for Dublin as they sealed a final place with the win over Galway The joint-manager said: 'When you get a score at the end to equalise it and bring it to extra-time, you get a little bit of a boost and you get the energy going into it. 'It's fabulous. All-Ireland semi-finals are all about winning and they're awful to lose. The girls managed to find that extra gear in extra-time, particularly that first half of extra-time, and then got crucial goals at crucial times. It was fantastic. 'There is a lot of work we need to do and lots of areas of improvement that we know won't be good enough in two weeks' time. 'We'll recover and we'll dust ourselves down. See how we are in the next couple of days and we've an All-Ireland final to look forward to.' READ MORE ON GAA The Jackies now face Meath in the final on August 3 at Croke Park and Casey knows this is another contest set to go down to the wire. He said: 'We are very familiar with each other. 'Over the last number of years we've probably played no other team as many times. 'Meath are excellent. I think they've improved massively as the Championship has gone on. We've a little bit of extra homework to do on them now, but it's great for Leinster to have two Leinster teams in the final and I'm sure there will be a massive crowd there.' RTE GAA pundit embrace Tipperary captain Ronan Maher after his epic display toppled Cork in All-Ireland final But Tyrrell replied with a pointed free on 23 minutes. Eva Noone, Olivia Divilly and Leonard all raised white flags for Daniel Moynihan's side but with Sinead Goldrick and Niamh Hetherton getting their names on the Dublin scoresheet, the teams were level at 1-6 to 0-9 at the break. It took 14 minutes after the restart before the next score arrived through the boot of Dublin corner-forward Kate Sullivan. Slevin levelled matters with a close-in free but Tyrrell responded with a similar effort to re-establish Dublin's slender lead. Galway hit back and two points from Noone edged them in front. And they looked set to prevail when sub Andrea Trill kicked over in response to a Sophie McIntyre effort. But there was enough time left for Tyrrell to force extra-time with a pointed free. The Na Fianna forward seized the initiative for Dublin in extra-time with a brace of points. Divilly registered her third of the game, before sub Orlagh Nolan found the target to put Casey's side two clear at 1-13 to 0-14 at the break in extra-time. The Dubs found themselves on course to set up a repeat of their 2021 decider against Meath when Rowe — with a soccer-style back heel — and Sullivan bagged goals in the second half of extra-time. They survived a nervous finish after Trill and Olivia Divilly rattled the net for Galway in a thrilling finale. Tribe boss Monyihan said: 'With the clock, another two minutes would have been key for us. We put them under the cosh, they couldn't get kickouts out. 'We possibly could have snuck another goal if we had another few minutes but this is sport. It can be extremely cruel at times. 'Dublin will look back on last year and say, 'Well, we've got our turn now' — but this isn't going to go away for a while for us. 'It's difficult to surmise. We went on a great run, we got back to Division 1. 'We backed up our Connacht title as well, which was great, and then had a good run leading into this. 'We felt possibly we could go all the way this year. 'It's just so disappointing that we just didn't finish that off. We'll regret that but we have to move on and think of the positives. 'We may see a few players step away after this season, which is never easy to see, but a lot of those ladies have really battled for Galway.'
