A break from simulation-based learning
In a first for Indian business education, Gurugram-based Masters' Union has launched a Rs 40 lakh student-managed trading fund as part of its newly introduced Postgraduate Programme in Capital Markets & Trading ( PGP-CMT ), allowing MBA students to actively trade in real markets across eight asset classes.Described as a pedagogical innovation, the fund will be deployed by students from the inaugural PGP-CMT cohort starting August 2025, marking the first time an Indian academic institution has entrusted learners with real capital for live trading. According to the school, the Rs 40 lakh capital pool is drawn from the larger Masters' Union Investment Fund (MUIF) and is intended 'solely for educational purposes to provide students with practical market experience under supervised academic guidance.'Students will apply classroom concepts in real time across equities currencies , and regulated digital assets, under the mentorship of seasoned professionals such as high-frequency traders, hedge fund managers, and portfolio strategists. The curriculum, developed in collaboration with industry veterans, will be delivered by more than 20 market practitioners. Notable mentors include Sanjiv Bhasin, former Director at IIFL; Siddhartha Rastogi, MD at Ambit Investment Advisor Pvt Ltd; Manoj Goel, co-founder and director at The WallStreet School; and Aman Singhania, Sr. Vice President & Head - Products at NSE Indices. The move addresses what the institute sees as a gap in India's trading education landscape. 'India's trading education ecosystem is currently fragmented, dominated by influencers and self-taught investors with little formal grounding,' said Sanjiv Bhasin, who is also part of the programme's core team.'This initiative marks a significant shift by bringing institutional structure and ethical discipline into an otherwise chaotic learning space. It's not about tips or momentum chasing, it's about understanding markets, risk, and strategy. In my view, this is how the next generation of traders should be trained,' said Bhasin. In addition to active trading, the programme also incorporates a simulated Wealth Management Challenge, designed to teach students how to construct and manage compliant advisory models without handling external funds. The institute has clarified that the initiative does not constitute a collective investment scheme and is not intended to provide financial services. 'The Rs 40 lakh student-managed trading fund is an internal pedagogical tool solely owned and operated by the Masters' Union and does not involve or manage any external or third-party capital,' according to a statement.: Recommendations, suggestions, views and opinions given by the experts are their own. Indian Army makes big defence deal, will buy 212 tank transporter trailers that will enhance military operational capability
(Image: ANI) New Delhi: The Indian Army on Friday, 1 August, signed an agreement of Rs 223.95 crore with Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies Private Limited. Under this, 212 state-of-the-art 50-tonne tank transporter trailers will be purchased. This deal is an important step towards increasing the operational mobility capability of the army and supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. This agreement was signed under the Indian-IDDM category. This agreement gives priority to indigenous design, development and manufacturing. This will strengthen self-reliance in the defence sector. These trailers are equipped with hydraulic/pneumatic ramps and steerable and liftable axles. These will make it easier to transport tanks and armoured vehicles to difficult areas. These trailers will add to the operational strength of the army and greatly enhance the logistics and operational capabilities of the army, and will act as a force multiplier. This deal will boost the indigenous defence manufacturing sector and will also create permanent employment opportunities. This is a sign of strong preparation for future challenges. Earlier, the Indian Army conducted the high-tech Divya Drishti exercise in Sikkim on 28 July. The exercise, conducted in the high-altitude areas of East Sikkim, tested new technologies designed to improve battlefield awareness, real-time surveillance and quick decision-making. The soldiers of the Tri Shakti Corps used a combination of ground-based systems and aerial platforms, including UAVs and drones, to execute real scenarios. Its special feature was the use of AI sensors. These sensors were connected to advanced communication systems. This arrangement ensured smooth and secure data flow between the command centres and helped in increasing situational awareness as well as making accurate decisions, i.e. a strong sensor-to-shooter link was created.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Dons New Role, Video Of Him Doing Commentary Goes Viral
Google CEO Sundar Pichai joined Harsha Bhogle in the commentary box during the 5th Test between India and England, sharing childhood cricket memories. The ongoing 5 th Test between India and England has taken an interesting turn, where India can sight a series-levelling win. The excitement around the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy drew Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, to the Oval when the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar were tearing the England attack apart. Pichai was even invited to the commentary box, where he called the game alongside renowned broadcaster Harsha Bhogle and shared his fond memories of cricket from his childhood. Interestingly, Sundar was in the commentary box when Washington Sundar was taking India ahead in the second innings. Sundar brought The Oval to life on Day 3 of the fifth Test with a blistering counter-attack. His 39-ball fifty drew loud cheers and a standing ovation from both the crowd and the Indian dressing room, as he powered India into a position where a win suddenly looked within reach. With Ravindra Jadeja (53) and Mohammed Siraj falling in quick succession, the pressure shifted onto Sundar, who took it upon himself to push India past the 350-mark. He didn't just hold the fort—he launched an assault. At the end of the 84th over, Sundar was on a cautious 17 off 23 balls. But in the next 23 deliveries, he went into overdrive, racing to 53 with 4 sixes and 4 fours. The momentum had well and truly swung in India's favour. But just as the fireworks were peaking, Sundar miscued a big shot off Josh Tongue and was caught, bringing the curtains down on a fiery knock. With his dismissal, India were bowled out for 396 in their second innings, setting England a target of 374 runs to win. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
