Preston Spire Taps Dustin Black to Supercharge 'Good Wins' Creative Philosophy

25-Year Industry Veteran to Guide Agency Through AI Evolution with "Culture of Curiosity" and Collaborative Leadership
MINNEAPOLIS, MN / ACCESS Newswire / July 9, 2025 / Preston Spire, the independent, employee-owned creative agency founded on delivering Good Wins™, is proud to announce Dustin Black as its new Executive Creative Director. In this role, Black will help supercharge Preston Spire's approach to uncovering each brand's untapped potential and transforming it into authentic growth that transcends category conventions.
"I was drawn to Preston Spire's culture and agility," says Black. "Here's an independent shop in my backyard with the DNA for exceptional creative work-one that's not beholden to shareholder pressures but actually invests in people and breakthrough ideas. That's exactly the environment where Good Wins happen."
Black brings over 25 years of award-winning creative leadership to Preston Spire. His work has been recognized by the Clios, D&AD, Communication Arts, Cannes Lions, The One Show, Obie Awards, Telly Awards, and Effie Awards. Throughout his career at agencies including Carmichael Lynch, Colle McVoy, and BBDO, Black has led breakthrough campaigns for brands like Perdue Chicken, Frank's RedHot, Craftsman Tools, Jackson Hole Tourism, Hormel, and MSNBC. Most recently, he helped transform Colle McVoy into one of the country's most celebrated creative agencies, earning Adweek's Midsize Agency of the Year and a coveted spot on the AdAge A-List.
His transition to the independent agency world reflects his belief that the traditional holding company model is fundamentally shifting. "Between economic pressures and holding companies focused on squeezing every dollar from the bottom line, that model no longer serves the best interests of clients or the people working there," Black explains. "I believe independents are the future-they're faster, more nimble, and better positioned to deliver the kind of creativity clients need in today's AI-powered economy."
Central to Black's leadership philosophy is fostering a "culture of curiosity"-a defining principle from his tenure at Colle McVoy. "Curiosity allows us to see different viewpoints and work seamlessly across departments," he says. "We're solving increasingly complex problems, and it's no longer just the creative department leading the charge. We need media, data, and strategy all working in harmony."
Black's entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond advertising. He co-authored "The Book of Spam" (Simon & Schuster), helped launch an ice cream shop, and creates large-scale felt art that will be exhibited at MSP Airport starting in October. "I've always believed you have to chase outside curiosities," he notes. "Our business requires lifelong learning and drawing inspiration from everywhere."
Looking ahead, Black is focused on guiding Preston Spire through the evolving creative landscape, particularly around artificial intelligence. "AI can enhance efficiency, but it can't replicate lived experience or human insight," he says. "Our job is building the tech stack that supports creativity while fiercely protecting the irreplaceable spark that only people can bring."
"Dustin embodies everything we believe in," says Jennifer Spire, CEO of Preston Spire. "He's not just a creative powerhouse-he's a culture builder who understands that thinking differently isn't just nice to have anymore, it's essential for survival. He's going to be transformative for our agency and our clients."

Robert Griffin III Flamed By MLK's Daughter For Doubling Down On Angel Reese Hating Caitlin Clark

Robert Griffin III has once again let his tweets concerning Angel Reese lead to a proper online roasting. This week was supposed to be a celebratory moment for Reese, who was named the NBA 2K26 WNBA cover athlete alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Carmelo Anthony, but instead, she was criticized for getting the honor. Mixed in with the jokes were some truly hateful comments, including a racist one that depicted Reese as a monkey on the cover. The former quarterback immediately came to her defense, denouncing the imagery in a lengthy retweet that began, 'Alright. This has got to stop. There is no place for racism in this world. Whether you like a player or not. Angel Reese should never be called or depicted as a Monkey.' But soon he reinserts himself into the issue, saying he stopped talking about Reese because she 'shared a video that aided in my wife, kids, family and friends receiving death threats, threats of physical harm to my family and friends and threats of sexual violence to my children on social media and beyond.' He continues on to double down on his claim from weeks ago that Reese and Caitlin Clark don't get along, and he's got the sources to prove it. 'People in Angel's inner circle called me and told me I was right and Angel Reese has grown to hate Caitlin Clark because of the media always asking her about Caitlin and being constantly compared to her,' he continues. He ends the message by saying that his critique of either of the players or their rivalry is not based on race and condemns the monkey in a uniform photo. 'If you hate Angel Reese because she is Black, you are the problem,' he writes. 'If you hate Angel Reese because you are a Caitlin Clark fan, don't turn it racial.' Griffin's anger over the racist depiction was worthy, but bringing up the Clark hate was misplaced, so Reese seemingly replied by calling him a liar over his insider information. 'Lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work,' she tweeted. Even Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, Bernice, thinks Griffin III needs to stop the negative remarks Reese makes and speak to her one-on-one. RG3's last issue with Reese came in May when Clark had committed a take foul against her, which led to endless theories about their icy relationship. Griffin immediately took Clark's side, tweeting in part, 'there's no way Angel Reese can continue the lie that she doesn't dislike Caitlin Clark. I know what hatred looks like. Angel Reese HATES Caitlin Clark. Not some basketball rivalry hate either. Hate.' See social media's reaction to the ongoing criticism between RG3 and the Clark-Reese rivalry. Jamie Dimon on Democratic friends: ‘Big hearts and little brains'

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon on Thursday knocked Democrats for pushing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies instead of 'real world' solutions. 'I have a lot of friends who are Democrats, and they're idiots,' Dimon said at a foreign-ministry event in Ireland, according to Bloomberg. 'I always say they have big hearts and little brains. They do not understand how the real world works. Almost every single policy rolled out failed,' he added. BestReviews is reader-supported and may earn an affiliate commission. Amazon Prime Day Deals Dimon argued many have been overly focused on DEI. 'They overdid DEI. We all were devoted to reaching out to the Black community, Hispanic, the LGBT community, the disabled — we do all of that,' Dimon said. 'But the extent, they got to stop it. And they got to go back to being more practical. They're very ideological,' the Fortune 500 CEO added. In March, Dimon's company rebranded its DEI efforts to diversity, opportunity and inclusion. 'The 'e' always meant equal opportunity to us, not equal outcomes, and we believe this more accurately reflects our ongoing approach to reach the most customers and clients to grow our business, create an inclusive workplace for our employees and increase access to opportunities,' Chief Operating Officer Jenn Piepszak wrote in a company memo, as reported by Reuters. The shift came two months after President Trump issued an executive order banning DEI practices from the federal government and encouraging companies to eradicate similar efforts in the private sector. Dimon on Thursday also criticized former President Biden's administration for not having 'one business person' advising Biden, saying he was left 'speechless' by what he characterized as the former president's 'lack of knowledge.' As Democrats look to rebuild after suffering a major defeat in 2024, the CEO suggested they lean away from candidates who resemble New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist who won the Democratic nomination. 'He's more of a Marxist than a socialist, and now you see these Democrats falling all over themselves saying, 'Well, he's pointing out some real problems, affordable housing and grocery prices.' OK, maybe,' Dimon said, according to Bloomberg. 'There's the same ideological mush that means nothing in the real world.'
