Happy Friendship Day 2025: 30+ Wishes and Messages to make your best friends feel special
As kids, it all came naturally. We made friends over shared lunches, paper planes, and silly secret handshakes. Back then, our friends were always just around the corner.
But as we grow older, things change. Life gets busy. We move to different cities, chase careers, and take on responsibilities. Yet, the real ones stay. They may not always be around, but when they are, it counts. A random text, a quick call, or even just remembering your favourite song– they find little ways to show they care.
Friendship Day is a sweet reminder to pause and let those people know how much they mean to us. Whether it's someone you've known forever or a newer friend who just gets you– say something. A small message can make a big difference.
Because friendship isn't about talking every day. It's about knowing someone's there, even when life gets messy. It's about being yourself and being accepted for it. So today, reach out. Tell your people they matter.

Raksha Bandhan 2025 falls on a rare yog of nakshatras: When is the right time to celebrate and what rules to follow
credit: canva Raksha Bandhan is more than a festival. It's a sweet ritual of protection, a loving festival celebrated by brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan is a reminder of the emotional bonds that hold together families. This year, it will be observed on Saturday, August 9, 2025. This year, the festival falls on a strong planetary conjunction, so it is all the more favorable. If you are going to celebrate it in a traditional and spiritually correct manner, here's everything that you should know, right from timing to rituals to don'ts. When is Raksha Bandhan in 2025? Festival falls on Saturday, August 9, 2025, i.e., Shravana's full moon (Purnima) day. Purnima Tithi starts: Friday, 8 August at 2:12 PM Purnima Tithi concludes: Saturday, 9 August at 1:24 PM Therefore, the most important rituals have to be performed on 9th August morning, before the conclusion of the tithi. Auspicious tithi The most favorable moment for tying of rakhi is from 5:47 AM to 1:24 PM on 9th August. The time interval belongs to the Aparahna phase, which is considered best for this kind of ceremony. Also, there's something called Bhadra Kaal, which is best avoided during any auspicious event. On this day, the Bhadra period ends before sunrise, so you're safe to begin early in the morning. Raksha Bandhan rituals should not be done in Bhadra. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Bhadra is an unfavorable period that needs to be avoided for any auspicious activity. Vratraj, along with the majority of Hindu scriptures, suggests avoiding the Bhadra period to tie Rakhi on the Raksha Bandhan festival. Why is this year so special This year, Raksha Bandhan is taking place in a powerful cosmic conjunction with Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Saubhagya Yoga, and Shravana Nakshatra present. Astrologers and Vedic experts say that this type of conjunction is extremely rare and may occur once in a hundred years, and is said to double the blessings for any ritual performed on this day. So if you've been feeling like your family or relationships need deeper healing or protection, this is a good year to bring that intention to your Rakhi ceremony. How to celebrate it in a conventional and meaningful way Start with a clean setting Wake up early, bathe, and wash the area where you are going to perform the ritual. Purity of space, mind, and body is essential. Prepare your Rakhi thali Add a diya (lamp), roli (vermilion), rice, sweets, and the rakhi thread. You can add flowers or coconut if you prefer. Perform the ritual within the auspicious window Put the rakhi around your brother's right hand, place a tilak on his forehead, do a small aarti, and give sweets. The brother usually presents a gift and an assurance of protection throughout his life. Raksha Bandhan is not just a cultural tradition. If done with awareness and in awareness, it is a little but potent expression of care and love. In 2025, with such propitious spiritual links, this festival is a time to reaffirm those ties and bring peace, prosperity, and harmony into your household.

Before NGT hearing, its team to assess UT's waste reality
Chandigarh: With the motive to inspect current status of both solid and liquid waste management in the city, a team from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) is expected to visit Chandigarh. Though the exact date of the visit is yet to be officially informed, sources revealed that the team will come to the city either in the third or fourth week of August. The development is crucial because the hearing of the Chandigarh-related cases of waste management is scheduled before the NGT in the second week of September, where the MC will have to submit the progress report of each aspect of waste management. Since the NGT team comprises a Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) member or scientist along with other technical officials, the team will physically visit the prime waste management sites, including the sewage treatment plants (STPs), garbage dump sites, and choes. After visiting and assessing the waste management, the team will submit its report to the NGT before the hearing. "Though clearing the legacy waste is taking some time due to the monsoon season, except for this, we have done all work and achieved 100% results in the management of both solid and liquid waste. Our STPs are functioning as per parameters, the choes are largely free from any type of waste discharge, and constant monitoring is being done of all choes too. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Access all TV channels anywhere, anytime Techno Mag Learn More Thus, we are ready with our progress report," sources in the MC revealed. Moreover, the Chandigarh municipal corporation has also started preparing reports to submit before the NGT regarding works done for both solid and liquid waste management in the city. "Since different departments are looking after the works related to waste management, they have been preparing their reports that will be shown to the NGT team and subsequently to the tribunal during the hearing that is scheduled in September. " In the recent NGT review meeting, the chief secretary of Chandigarh administration lambasted the MC for not clearing the legacy waste by July 31, set deadline for the work. The MC set a new deadline for the end of September to clear this piled-up waste, but the chief secretary expressed dissatisfaction with the new deadline and instructed them to clear the dump as soon as possible. Though the MC officials explained to the chief secretary during the review meeting that constant rains during the ongoing monsoon season played a major role in hindering progress, the chief secretary asked the MC to fulfil the work soon despite any hurdle.

State deploys ‘Gaja Mitras' to tackle human-jumbo conflicts
1 2 Guwahati: In a decisive move to address the escalating human-elephant conflict, the state govt has launched the Gaja Mitra initiative, deploying rapid response teams across 80 conflict zones in eight districts. These teams, comprising local villagers, will be active during the peak winter season, aiming to curb the alarming rates of human and elephant fatalities. The 80 identified human-elephant conflict "hotspots" are in eight districts — Goalpara, Udalguri, Nagaon, Baksa, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, and Biswanath. Assam has witnessed over 1,400 human and 1,209 elephant deaths from such conflicts between 2000 and 2023, marking one of the highest tolls nationwide. The initiative follows a critical report from the Wildlife Institute of India, highlighting a crisis driven by habitat loss, electrocution, railway accidents, and retaliatory killings. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma last month, in a post on his X handle, wrote that in order to strengthen the resolve of the govt to reduce man-elephant conflict, the state cabinet approved the Gaja Mitra scheme, which would allow the setting up of dedicated teams and mechanism to tackle the problem. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo An official from the forest department said each team will consist of eight local villagers trained to act swiftly and collaboratively with the forest department to manage and mitigate conflict situations. The scheme focuses on voluntary, community-driven surveillance and response, ensuring that those most familiar with the landscape and patterns of elephant movement can respond quickly and effectively. The official added that to discourage elephants from entering villages and farmlands, the scheme includes the creation and restoration of local elephant habitats stocked with their preferred food, such as bamboo and Napier grass. Apart from the Gaja Mitra scheme, NFR is carrying out the installation of an AI-enabled Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to detect the movement of elephants on the train lines so that the speed of the trains can be controlled to protect the elephants. The Habaipur-Lumding section and the Kamakhya-Mirza section of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) are the two sections where the Railways have completed the installation of the AI-enabled IDS and started its operation to detect the movement of elephants on the train lines. NFR Chief Public Relation Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that the installation of the AI-enabled IDS has started in four more railway sections in Jorhat, Dhekiajuli, North Lakhimpur, and Goalpara district.
