EL ALAMEIN, July 7 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Egypt's full support for all efforts aimed at achieving national consensus on political files in Somalia in a way that enhances security and establishes the foundations for stability and sustainable development in the country. In remarks during a joint press conference with his Somali counterpart Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in El Alamein City Monday President Sisi said, the talks with the Somali president involved in-depth discussions on a number of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the security and political situation in the Horn of Africa and the security of the Red Sea. President Sisi stressed the agreement on the need to intensify cooperation to ensure the stability of this vital region, given its direct impact on both regional and international security and stability. Sisi added that the discussions also addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, in light of the joint political declaration signed last January, aiming to elevate relations between the two countries to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. He said an agreement was reached on the importance of building on the current momentum and taking concrete steps to deepen cooperation in specific areas of mutual interest—particularly in political, economic, security, and military fields and also emphasizing continued consultation and coordination on related issues. President Sisi welcomed his Somali counterpart to his second home, Egypt, in a visit reflecting the depth of fraternal ties between the two countries- based on a shared history, religion, and culture, as well as common visions and objectives. He said the visit comes as part of the mutual commitment to advancing strategic partnership between the two nations in a way that serves the interests of their brotherly peoples and supports development efforts and stability in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region. El ALAMEIN, July 7 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday held a closed session of talks with Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the presidential palace in El Alamein City. The Egyptian and the Somali leaders also held expanded talks, in the presence of both countries' delegations, as they explored ways of fostering bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East and Africa, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy. OPEN// FM affirms Egypt's support for South Sudan's peaceful transition to stability
CAIRO, July 7 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's aspiration for South Sudan to successfully complete its transitional phase and advance toward the establishment of a stable and cohesive state at the political, economic, and social levels. During a phone call on Monday the minister of foreign affairs discussed with South Sudanese Foreign Minister Semaya Kumba bilateral relations and regional developments of mutual concern. Abdelatty urged all parties in South Sudan to support the transitional process, foster consensus, prioritize the national interest and fully leverage the assistance provided by the international community and regional organizations. He reaffirmed Egypt's keenness on the security and stability of South Sudan, emphasizing the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation in line with the shared interests of both countries. The foreign minister also highlighted the deep-rooted mutual interests between Egypt and South Sudan in the various sectors, underscoring the importance of enhancing bilateral coordination. Abdelatty noted the steady growth of Egyptian investments in South Sudan over the past decade, particularly in the fields of education, agriculture, irrigation, and healthcare. He said the issue of Nile waters is existential for Egypt and that Egypt looks forward to a constructive stance from South Sudan - within the framework of achieving consensus in the Nile Basin Initiative - to address the concerns of the basin countries and to serve as a bridge for reaching solutions that ensure the realization of the shared interests of the Nile Basin states. For his part, Kumba commended longstanding historical ties between the two countries and reaffirmed South Sudan's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in all areas. He also expressed South Sudan's understanding of Egypt's water-related concerns and affirmed his country's commitment to engage constructively with Egypt in pursuit of their shared interests.
