The Most Impressive Wedding of the Year is Happening this Week in Venice. And it's all hosted by JCPenney (Yes, JCPenney).
PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The most talked about wedding is happening in Venice this week (no, not that one!) — on the canals of Venice, California, that is. The difference? It cost a lot less than the rumored $10 million; try $10,000, and we have the receipts to prove it.
"But [JCPenney] didn't just say yes to our dream — they made every detail possible, from outfitting every guest in gorgeous fashion to the venue and cake, and most importantly, creating memories we'll cherish forever.'
That's right. While some eyes are on a high-profile wedding happening this week in Venice, Italy, JCPenney (yes, JCPenney!) is inviting everyone else to celebrate a more relatable love story, one where the only thing extravagant is the joy. The wedding – marrying high school sweethearts who reunited 14 years later, Estefany Gomez and Leonardo Rendon – brought together family, friends and a guest list dressed in this summer's hottest fashion from JCPenney, all without the jaw-dropping price tag.
From the fashion to the florals to the reception playlist (hello, free Spotify), we proved what smart shoppers already knew: You don't need a superyacht when you've got super taste. No paparazzi when all your guests have phones. No helicopters needed – we can drive, thanks. No grand orchestra or celebrity DJ – just pure heart.
With a stunning backdrop of the Venice canals, the whole event is giving 'glamorous' a run for its money and proving that looking and feeling like a million bucks doesn't have to cost it.
'We've always dreamed of a California wedding, but with our families living on opposite coasts, it felt out of reach,' said Estefany and Leonardo. 'When JCPenney reached out, we honestly wondered if it could really happen. But they didn't just say yes to our dream — they made every detail possible, from outfitting every guest in gorgeous fashion to the venue and cake, and most importantly, creating memories we'll cherish forever.'
From the breathtaking $99 gown to the perfectly tailored $350 tuxedo, every detail was a masterclass in affordable style. All wedding elements were provided by JCPenney – from the guests decked out in the newest summer cocktail dresses and suiting, to the tablescapes and decor, wedding bands and fine jewelry, and even the hair and makeup artistry by JCPenney beauty and salon experts.
'Most of us aren't planning our weddings with a ten-million-dollar budget or a palazzo on standby,' said Marisa Thalberg, Catalyst Brands Chief Brand and Marketing Officer. 'At JCPenney, we know that the most memorable celebrations are the ones filled with real moments surrounded by the people we love, and style that surprises everyone, and that's why we're quietly redefining what's possible for couples everywhere – delivering wow-factor memories, minus the jaw-dropping price tag.'
Check out the full receipt and follow along #TheOtherVeniceWedding. And if you think you can beat our $10K budget, drop us an @ on how you're saving with JCPenney on summer's most glamorous moments.

Axios Event: Young consumers want realness from brands
CANNES, France – Young consumers are demanding authenticity, interactivity and relevance from media and brands with which they engage, said creators and industry leaders at an Axios event at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Why it matters: Millennials and Gen Z spending is outpacing the broader global population and companies are looking for ways to capitalize on that. Axios' Sara Fischer and Kerry Flynn spoke with podcast host Jake Shane, Spotify chief public affairs officer Dustee Jenkins, Business Insider CEO Barbara Peng and Dotdash Meredith CEO Neil Vogel at the June 18 event, sponsored by Uber Advertising. What they're saying: Young consumers are seeking more than just words about a brand's authenticity. "For Gen Z in particular, video podcasts have really grown. … They not only want to hear you, they want to see and feel exactly what's playing out," Jenkins said. "It speaks to this idea of tapping into culture. Culture is unfolding on platforms like Spotify, it's unfolding through the creators." "Influencing inherently is like an authentic thing," said Shane, the host of "Therapuss with Jake Shane." "If you're an influencer, you're a tastemaker, you're influencing people, and the only way you're actually able to do that is if you are like authentically yourself." Media companies are shifting attention to original video and smart TV platforms where audiences are watching long-form content. Business Insider's videos are watched for about 14 billion minutes a year. "A lot of it is YouTube, where we have audiences that want to engage very deeply with us," Peng said. "We have over 10 original series, and people like to watch that not only on their mobile phones but with the rise of smart TV and a lot of the streaming options, that's been huge." As for Dotdash Meredith and its repertoire of legacy brands, Vogel says it doesn't matter where consumers are finding their content, what matters is that they are engaging with it. "We get traffic from everywhere to our web – but we also don't care," he said. "I could care less if you're in the app, if you are on the website, if you read the magazine, if you're on TikTok or Instagram. As long as you are part of our brand, we can figure it out." "You can't say 'I am going to make Gen Z love me.' That's the quickest way to make Gen Z or any gen not like you. You just have to be authentic to what you do." On the creation of its unique app that had elements of its editorial content as well as Instagram and TikTok, Vogel added: "We didn't want to make an app until we could figure out how to do something special that would resonate with Gen Z." Content from the sponsored segment: In a View From the Top conversation, Uber's global head of advertising Kristi Argyilan said the company is the "platform of now" as it taps into cultural moments through concert rides, food deliveries and its newly launched creative studio. "That creative studio is designed specifically to cater to what we're hearing loud and clear from what we call 'Gen Uber,'" Argyilan said. "And this is a large group of consumers who want to be able to flip from digital world to physical world at a flip of a switch. And so we're bringing these activations that brands participate in that acknowledge their participation on our app but then also … eventually the destination they go to."

All-In Podcast Launches ‘The Besties All-In Tequila'
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, All-In Podcast hosts Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg – A.K.A. 'The Besties' – launched The Besties All-In Tequila. The All-In Podcast is one of the world's top-ranking podcasts that features insider takes on business, technology, and society. In 2023, The Besties discovered a very rare store of tequila in Jalisco, Mexico that was pot-distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave and aged in white oak ex-whiskey barrels for five years. After sampling directly from the barrels, the group knew they had stumbled onto something special and immediately acquired the entire supply. The Besties worked with a local master distiller to blend the batch to a perfect balance over months of tastings and iterations. The Besties All-In Tequila was born, an exceptional extra anejo featuring a smooth, slightly sweet taste with hints of wood, citrus, dried fruits, butterscotch, vanilla, cacao, toffee, and cooked agave. To match the tequila's exceptional quality, The Besties designed limited-edition packaging. Each bottle is a custom, hand crafted art piece featuring hand painted poker chip accents and an individually numbered medallion for collectors. The interior of the box illuminates upon opening to showcase the complexity of the bottle's design. Each collector's box includes The Besties' signatures. 'It's been wonderful to build this product together. We fight, we argue and then we come back together. You're going to love drinking this tequila and the bottle is gorgeous,' said Jason Calacanis. ' We do these projects because they're fun to do together,' agreed Chamath Palihapitiya. 'The money isn't going to change anyone's life — well, except maybe JCal's.' David Sacks shared the spirited backstory behind the launch, from late-night group chats to tequila tastings in Mexico. 'We found a rare set of five-year aged agave barrels and turned them into something we're really proud of. People are going to be surprised by how smooth and good this tequila is. We wouldn't put our names on it if it wasn't exceptional.' The Besties hosted a private black-tie event at Delilah in Los Angeles, CA to celebrate the launch. The invitation-only event welcomed tastemakers, tech founders, venture capitalists, and entertainment industry elite for an evening of live music performances, tequila tastings, and curated experiences. The Besties All-In Tequila is now on-sale at for $1,200 US plus applicable taxes and fees per bottle. All sales will be fulfilled by Flaviar. Order delivery is expected in late summer 2025. The All-In Podcast delivers conversations worth having. When the pandemic prevented four friends from convening their weekly poker game, they took to the airwaves to socialize and discuss the news of the day. Hosted by Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg, the show features insider takes on business, technology, and society and interviews with the world's most influential thinkers.
