Justin Bieber Addresses Rumors of Marriage Struggles on New Album ‘Swag': ‘I Ain't Walking Away'
With how fraught the past few years of Bieber's life and career have been, many were curious about what the sound and themes of his new album would be. Since 2021's Justice, Bieber's been relatively quiet on the career front. He canceled most of his Justice tour dates, needing to prioritize his physical health after battling Lyme disease and Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Then, in 2023, he sold his entire music catalog for $200 million. As the deal was announced, it seemed that the following two years evolved into the dissolution of his friendship and working partnership with manager Scooter Braun, who retired entirely from artist management.

Meanwhile, Bieber's personal life has remained a point of tabloid fascination. He and his wife, Hailey, welcomed son Jack Blues last August. In the months following the birth of their son, fans and gossip magazines worried about Bieber's mental health due to an uptick in erratic Instagram posts, mostly of him smoking blunts. After an especially strange comment about Hailey's Vogue cover, where he indicated that during a fight, he once told her she would never be on the cover of Vogue, rumors swirled that their marriage was on the rocks.
With Swag, Bieber squashes all concerns about the health of his marriage. He previewed the album with a new photo shoot that heavily featured Hailey and their son. The album itself is similar to Changes in its intimate examination of Bieber's married life, but much more musically complex and interesting. On 'Walking Away,' he offers a glimpse into the types of natural ups and downs of being in a relationship with someone. 'And girl we better stop before we say some shit/We've been testing our patience,' he sings on the pre-chorus. 'I think we better off if we just take a break/And remember what grace is.' As the song goes on, he confirms that in spite of these 'growing pains,' he wouldn't be giving up on this relationship any time soon.
On 'Go Baby,' he celebrates his wife's accomplishments, specifically the successful lip gloss phone case for her beauty brand Rhode: 'That's my baby/She's iconic/iPhone case/lip gloss on it,' he says in the opening lines. He proceeds to offer to be a shoulder for her to cry on when things get tough.
In between some more lusty lyrics for his wife, Swag includes some choice samples from a recent viral video of him confronting a swath of paparazzi who were stalking him. The video turned into a meme, specifically the line 'It's not clocking to you that I'm standing on business.' He already had a great sense of humor about the moment, reposting edits of it on his Instagram, but also sampled the video on the song 'Butterflies' as well as the Druski-featuring skit 'Standing on Business.'
On a different skit with Druski titled 'Therapy Session,' Bieber addresses concerns about his mental health, revealing how much it has started to bug him when people ask him how he's doing. 'I have had to go through a lot of my struggles as a human, as all of us do, really publicly, and so people are always asking if I'm okay and that starts to really weigh on me,' he says. 'It starts to make me feel like I'm the one with issues and everyone else is perfect.'
Besides Druski, Bieber's latest features guest appearances from Mk.gee, Dijon, Gunna, Lil B, Sexyy Red, Cash Cobain, Eddie Benjamin, and Marvin Winans.

NEWS OF THE WEEK: Zayn Malik confronts One Direction racism in new song
The singer shared a post on Instagram, previewing a new rap song titled Fuchsia Sea. In the lyrics, Malik alludes to the racism he faced while a member of the band with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and the late Liam Payne. "Got my back against the wall so much they think I got a brick fascination / Do you remember every conversation? 'Cause I have been conscious of every connotation," Malik recites in the song snippet. "And while they concentrate on their elevation, I've got a round trip to the constellation,..."

Read on to find out exactly what pieces Vogue's editors are snapping up from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2025. Talia Abbas, associate shopping director 'Like clockwork, the mileage accrued on my running sneakers peaks every six months or so—I can quite literally feel in my lower back when it's time to switch out. I alternate between pairs from On and New Balance, they are my favorite for long-distance road runs. I feel similarly as our senior beauty writer, Kiana Murden, does that the beauty deals at Nordstrom are the best during the Anniversary Sale. Case in point, there's La Mer and Oribe in my cart. If not now, when?' Kiana Murden, senior beauty commerce writer 'I might be biased, but the beauty deals at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale are always the best! Take this Dior set, with a serum, cream, and lotion packed away in a plush travel bag—a $219 value for just $160! J'adore! YSL Beauty's lip duo is just as desirable, for any makeup lover like myself. And on hair, I go through so many bottles of the Roz conditioner so I am adding its value size to cart ASAP. Perhaps I'll store some of these in Longchamp's Le Pliage cosmetics pouch for travel days? Sounds like a win to me!' Katie Henwood, audience development associate director 'After years of trying several different denim brands and many shapes, cuts, and crops, I have finally found my go-to brand for all of my jeans: Agolde. This pair is perfectly baggy and features a v-waist cut for a fun twist. It's on sale and at the top of my shopping list! ' Elly Leavitt, shopping lifestyle editor 'It took some filtering, but I found a handful of great basics in the Nordstrom sale—from Nécessaire's lotion for moisturizing after the sun to Nike's low-profile sneakers that work equally well with poplin skirts as they do jeans. I'm also in the market for some new sheets, and Parachute's lightweight organic cotton set seems perfect for New York's heatwave.' Libby Jane Page, shopping executive director 'American Love Story has me scrolling through all my favorite Caroline Bessette Kennedy pieces I wish I could purchase; her wardrobe remains one of the most iconic of all time and she was a Manolo woman through and through.' Concetta Ciarlo, beauty commerce writer 'I've been borrowing my roommate's Béis commuter duffle for over a year now, and at this point I think I use it more than her. Despite Bella's undying generosity, it's probably time for me to get my own! I'm also trying to be more gentle with my hair. This super soft towel cuts down on mechanical damage caused by rough fabrics, and this hair dryer is just too good—it cuts styling time in half, and my arms don't feel like I just had an intense workout. Finally, if pro makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez loves something, I simply must try it too; she recommended these liquid blushes, which are perfect for creating blurred yet bold flushed cheeks.' Margaux Anbouba, senior beauty and wellness editor 'I've long admired Erdem's ultra-feminine with an edge designs. This dress is airy and floaty but still pretty and pink—just how I want to dress in the heat of summer.' Leah Faye Cooper, digital style director 'The other day while I was walking home in my go-to pair of platforms, my left shoe broke; the platform just... detached from the upper part of the sandal. I am still reeling from what was a rather humbling wobble home, and also mourning the loss of those shoes, but I'll feel better when I have a new pair like these.' On ‘Swag,' Justin Bieber leans into the skid
For years, listeners have debated whether to separate art from the artist. But what about separating an artist from their tabloid persona? The latter question is asked but not answered by 'Swag,' the album Justin Bieber surprise-released on Friday and one that forces us to consider how the pseudo-events of celebrity give oxygen to pop superstardom but steal it from pop music.
