Amapiano artist Scotts Maphuma, real name Mpho Lebajoa, is making headlines once again, and this time it is because he found himself in hot water as he was reportedly arrested over the weekend in Mozambique, where he was scheduled to perform.
The 'Shayi'Moto' singer was set to perform in the country over the weekend at an annual Children's Day festival in Matola, Mozambique.
However, he did not show up to the event, and he later discovered that things work differently in Mozambique, finding himself in trouble with the local authorities.
It all started when a video of the artist in a police holding cell circulated on social media and sparked mixed reactions as well as questions from fans.
Local reporters from 'Mz Magazine News' posted the video on their Instagram with a caption that reads: 'Scotts Maphuma é levado a esquadra por não ter chegado a tempo de actuar.'
It translates to: 'Scotts Maphuma is taken to the police station for not arriving on time to perform.'
Maphuma was meant to headline the Children's Day festival on Sunday, June 1, at an event known as 'Lizha só festas' in Matola, a vibrant Mozambican suburb.
The disappointed attendees took to the comment section to share that not only did Lebajoa not arrive, but he allegedly detoured to perform at a royal event first, hence he was late and detained for not showing up to perform for the little ones.
Instagram user @darcia_da_julia_bunitinha commented: 'Instead of going to perform for children early, he preferred to go to the royal event first, perform for adults; that should have been banned. He should never set foot in Mozambique.'
Before the drama unfolded, the Amapiano sensation posted on his Instagram stories, assuring attendees that he is on his way to the children's event.
'Matola! I'm on my way, bafethu (guys), I'm on my way to the children's event. 'Lizha só festas!',' he exclaimed.
More festival attendees were poking fun at the whole situation, one even asked that they get refunded some of the money back to buy the disappointed children who were looking forward to seeing the artist, a hamburger.
This comes after the Amapiano singer faced major criticism from fans who accused him of being arrogant when engaging with his fans.
When he faced public scrutiny, he opened up about his struggles with fame, revealing that he is tired of being judged for not always being in the mood to take pictures or interact with fans.
However, things took a turn for the worse when fans appeared uninterested in his performances at 'Cotton Fest' and Coyotes Lounge in Mbombela, which led him to publicly apologise to his fans.
'I want to take a moment to sincerely apologise to all my supporters. I've let some of you down, and I take full responsibility. Growth comes with owning your mistakes, and I'm committed to doing better for myself and you. Thank you for still believing in me,' he wrote.
The star took to his social media to sincerely apologise for his behaviour and remarks, which garnered him support from his industry peers.

HIT SONGS IN KOREA Positioned atop a large mound centre-stage, he sustained the momentum with nonstop hits. He repeatedly engaged the audience with calls like 'Korea, make some noise!' One memorable moment came during Heartless, when Kanye West stopped singing and handed over the vocals to the audience. He created a powerful sing-along that resonated throughout the stadium. ADVERTISEMENT Later in the show, he surprised fans by inviting his daughter onstage to join him for choreography and rapping during the track Bomb. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt family moment. THE COMEBACK CONCERT Kanye West showed immense stamina, performing energetically despite the sweat soaking his hoodie as the night wore on. His set also featured a vibrant dance routine for On Sight and intense visual effects to close the spectacle. By the end, fans lit up the night by waving their phones in perfect rhythm with his final song. Kim Hwan-young, a 20-year-old fan, shared his excitement: 'I regretted missing last year's show. Tonight, we came ready to sing every word.' ADVERTISEMENT Like many, he had queued for hours, starting at 1:30 p.m., just to buy official merchandise. Justin and Hailey Bieber ignite romance amid marriage woes

Justin and Hailey Bieber have put rumours about their rocky marriage to rest with a passionate public display of affection. The couple shared a steamy makeout photo on Instagram, captured during a listening party for Justin's seventh studio album, Swag , in Los Angeles, according to Page Six. In the intimate snapshot, Hailey, 28, embraces a shirtless Justin, 31, while holding a drink and phone. Justin wraps his arms around her waist and back, showing off his tattoos. Hailey also posted the photo on her Instagram Stories, signalling they remain deeply connected. This affectionate moment follows recent revelations from Justin's album, where he openly admitted to struggles in their marriage. However, he also reaffirmed his commitment to stay by Hailey's side. On the track Walking Away , he sings: 'Baby, I ain't walking away / You were my diamond / Gave you a ring / I made you a promise… These growing pains / And baby, I ain't walking away.' Similarly, in the song Daisies , Justin explores the emotional ups and downs of their relationship. He asks, 'Do you love me or not?' while navigating their conflicts with patience and understanding. Despite these candid admissions of difficulties, insiders assure that Justin and Hailey are not contemplating separation. A source told Us Weekly that though Justin has been tough to handle recently due to personal challenges, Hailey remains the stable force keeping their family grounded. The source added, 'They don't talk about divorce,' and emphasised the couple believes they are soulmates committed to making their marriage work. The couple, who met in 2016 and married in September 2018, are also new parents to their son, Jack Blues Bieber, born in August 2024. They renewed their wedding vows earlier this year. Their public display of affection and joint celebration of Justin's album release suggest they are weathering their marital challenges together. Hailey's quote accompanying one affectionate photo said simply, 'My favourite girl,' confirming the affection beneath the headlines. Fans and observers alike can find hope in their willingness to show vulnerability and work through issues publicly. This public display, coupled with the themes of Swag , illustrates that love and commitment persist even through tough times.
