Sioned, who competed with her boyfriend Fin Gough, were the youngest contestants to take part in the BBC travel programme. On Instagram, Sioned said she "had no idea" how much a challenge the race would be, but described it as an "amazing opportunity". The couple came third in the race, with mother and son duo Caroline and Tom coming in first place, sisters Elizabeth and Letitia in second and brothers Brian and Melvyn in fourth place.
After travelling through China and Nepal, all four teams were hoping to reach the final checkpoint in the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari, first and claim a cash prize of £20,000. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter .
The teams travelled through seven checkpoints before reaching the final one, without phones, flights or bank cards and only a tight budget of £1,140 per person, a map, public transport and each other to depend on.
Welsh couple Fin and Sioned had seen their fair share of challenges along the way, including homesickness and catching up with the other teams when they were hours behind.
In an Instagram post following the final episode, which was aired on Wednesday evening (June 11), Sioned shared her thoughts on the journey she had embarked on in the programme.

With a collection of photos from their travels, she wrote: "From the moment we set off, Fin and I had no idea just how much this race would challenge us, change us and bring us closer together.
"We've crossed countries, faced setbacks, ran for buses (too many times), and soaked in moments I'll never forget.
"From the laughs to the tears, every mile has meant something.
"This was THE most amazing opportunity I've ever had and to be honest I don't think I can ever top it!
"We've literally been able to see parts of the world I never dreamed I'd visit! What a wild, emotional, unforgettable ride.
"We've experienced so many new things and we met so many amazing people of different cultures and backgrounds.
"It was such a valuable experience and I cannot express how grateful I actually am to have been able to be a part of it!"
She continued: "But what really stayed with me were the strangers who became lifelines, the people who helped us without hesitation, offered directions, a meal, or just any information when we needed it most.
"I've made some lifelong friends in the team and cast, as well as learned so much more about myself and what I can accomplish.
"On top of that I now know that any ups and downs me and Fin will face we can obviously overcome it because we completed Race Across the World together successfully (with a few bickers)!!"
She concluded with: "I cannot recommend travelling this way more to anyone!
Someone had left a supportive sign for Sioned and Fin ahead of the final episode of Race Across the World

"I get that not everyone will be lucky enough to have this opportunity but if this journey has taught us anything it's that you can seriously do anything as long as you put your mind to it.
"Super excited to see what our next journey will hold for us. Thank you to all the team at Studio Lambert and Race Across the World for believing in us and allowing to be authentically ourselves.

"Thank you to you guys for all the support and I hope you stick around to see what more we'll get up to...".
On her Instagram story, the star shared a photo from her home village of Nantgaredig in Carmarthenshire, in which someone had left a sign with a red dragon and the globe with the words 'Big up Sioned + Fin #RATW'.
In response, Sioned captioned the photo with: "I love my small village in Wales!'.

Foo Fighters' new drummer revealed after band member's firing

Foo Fighters have found their new drummer after the shock firing of Josh Freese. The switch up marks a new chapter in the Foo Fighters' ongoing evolution. He succeeds Freese, 52, who joined the iconic group in 2023, following the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. Freese's departure, quietly announced in May, left fans wondering who could possibly carry the torch and join the band comprised of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee. Ilan Rubin, best known for his tenure with Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves, is stepping behind the kit for the legendary rock band, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. Having joined Nine Inch Nails as their touring drummer in 2009 at just 21, Rubin became the youngest-ever inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when the band was honored in 2020. In addition to his longstanding work with Trent Reznor and co., Rubin also performs with Angels & Airwaves and has collaborated with film composer Danny Elfman. He is currently expecting his second child. It's not yet clear whether Rubin is joining the Foo Fighters as a permanent member or in a touring capacity. A source close to the matter says Rubin had committed to Nine Inch Nails through the end of 2025, but informed Reznor last week that he had 'accepted a job with another band.' Meanwhile, Freese is headed back to familiar territory as Nine Inch Nails confirmed his return as their live drummer — a role he held from 2005 to 2008 before stepping away. The band teased the news with a celebratory Instagram story featuring Freese and the caption: 'let's f***** go.' Nine Inch Nails is set to begin the North American leg of its Peel It Back arena tour on August 6 in Oakland, California. The group, which wrapped a sold-out European run earlier this summer, has also been tapped to compose the score for Tron: Ares – the first time Nine Inch Nails, rather than just Reznor and longtime collaborator Atticus Ross, will be credited on a film soundtrack. For Freese, the departure from Foo Fighters came as a surprise. In a May Instagram post, he said the band 'decided to go in a different direction with their drummer,' adding, 'I'm not angry — just a bit shocked and disappointed.' Later, Freese addressed the possible reasons for his firing on Instagram, listing ten hilarious causes. Among the imagined offenses? 'Once whistled 'My Hero' for a week solid on tour,' 'Never even once tried growing a beard,' and the confession that he could only name 'one Fugazi song.' (A cardinal sin, apparently, given Dave Grohl's well-documented reverence for the iconic D.C. punk band.) More Trending Frontman Dave Grohl publicly thanked Freese for his contributions in a fan letter earlier this month, writing that without 'the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete.' Rubin will make his debut with the Foo Fighters when the band kicks off their long-awaited international tour this fall, starting October 2 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Additional dates include Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, and a stop in Mexico City on November 14. Got a story? Hibernian Football Club are hosting a gritty one-man play at Easter Road Stadium for the Edinburgh Festival which explores the harsh realities for the thousands of trainee footballers who have been dropped by their clubs each year. The groundbreaking collaboration highlights the harsh realities of youth football and the physical and mental abuse they are subjected to. The hour long show will be staged at Hibs' brand new Behind the Goals venue during the Edinburgh Festival and launches on Saturday 2nd August at 7pm. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The play is written and performed by Alfie Cain, who himself was a trainee at Chelsea FC for many years before eventually being dropped at age 18. Alfie Cain on the pitch at Hibernian FC's Easter Road stadium The production marks the first time a professional football club in Scotland has hosted a theatrical performance about the mental health challenges faced by young players who don't make the professional grade, and it's also the first time that Hibs has hosted a show at the Edinburgh Fringe. A Hibernian FC spokesperson said: "Hosting 'Dropped' at Easter Road is a statement of our continued commitment to player welfare beyond the pitch. We recognise the different challenges that academy players face and during their educational programmes with us, we attempt to prepare them for life outside the game, in case their sporting ambitions don't come true. It's vital youngsters are prepared for that reality and professional life. Alfie's play offers powerful insights that we believe can benefit our young players and the wider football community." At this time of year (end of July/early August) thousands of trainees will be told they are no longer needed at their clubs. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad There are no published numbers of trainee footballers at professional Scottish clubs, but figures range from over 2,000 (Source BBC) to around 10,000 but research by the SFA last year stated that Scottish Football is "significantly underachieving its potential" and that only 1% of apprentices will get to play top-flight football. (Source BBC). The chances of success for trainees are equally poor south of the border. Alfie Cain performing Dropped on stage Many trainees suffer from serious mental health issues after being dropped by their clubs and in 2020 there was the tragic case of a suicide by 18-year-old Manchester City trainee Jeremy Wisten. His family felt he was "let down" by the club and that they did not provide adequate support. That is certainly an extreme case but many other trainees struggle with mental health issues, as was certainly the case with Alfie Cain, after being dropped at age 18. Alfie said: "From the age of nine to 18 everything in my life revolved around football. Everyone expected me to turn pro, and I had the prestige of being an elite footballer. Then after nine years of commitment, I was invited into the coach's office and in nine minutes was told that the dream was over and to clear out my locker. My whole world fell apart in those few minutes, I lost everything, my purpose and confidence were shattered. It took years to get over it, and if I'd not had the support of my family I could easily have taken a wrong turn." Alfie retrained as an actor at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) in London and wrote the play Dropped which was first performed in 2022 at the Arts Cafe Theatre in Little Venice. The play sold out and he received press in the Evening Standard, BBC and ITV. As a result he was signed up by a top talent agency and recently appeared in EastEnders. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Alfie added: "This opportunity to perform at Hibernian's Easter Road is a dream come true, I've always wanted to take Dropped to the Edinburgh Festival but simply couldn't afford to do so, but thanks to Hibs' amazing support I'm able to do it. Having a professional club embrace this message is groundbreaking. The 'Behind the Goals' venue creates the perfect atmosphere for telling this story, literally in the shadow of where dreams are made and broken every week. Back when I was a trainee I'd have loved the chance to play at Easter Road, and now it's going to happen, maybe not quite the way I'd envisaged back then, but it's still fantastic." The tattoo, spotted by keen-eyed fans on one of the models' left leg in one of the promotional images, appears to feature two people engaged in a sex act. The image was quickly deleted by the club when fans started talking about the unfortunate oversight. One account re-posted the image on X with the caption "Interesting leg tattoo, that", garnering over 30,000 likes. Another asked: "How did the media team not catch that?" The kit itself is predominantly white and red and is based on the St George's Cross and its historic symbolism with the club. The cross is a symbol of the city of Genoa, and appears both on the city's coat of arms and Genoa CFC's club badge. The launch video, filmed in London, celebrates the English roots of the side, which is the oldest football club in Italy. It was originally formed as a cricket and football club by English sailors in 1893. 4 Locations such as Spensley walk have a special significance to the Italian clubs. "Born by the port, shaped by the sea, carried by Genovese pride, they cross-walked straight onto the pitch." Fans can't believe their eyes as WWE legend the Undertaker unveils Serie A minnows' kit in 'greatest collab ever' The video heavily features the Kirby estate in Bermondsey, known as the 'most patriotic estate' in London for its prominent displays of the St. George's cross. Another location in the video is Hackney's Spensley walk, featured in honour of James Richardson Spensley, who championed the footballing division of the sports club in 1897, and is known as a founding father of football in Italy. The club are no strangers to kit launch shenanigans- they unveiled an all-black third kit in November last year through a launch video featuring WWE legend the Undertaker.
