Tina O'Brien and Jorgie Porter suffer awkward blunder on British Soap Awards red carpet
Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter suffered an uncomfortable blunder at the British Soap Awards. The actresses joined their co-stars on the red carpet for the annual event, which is taking place tonight.
The world of soap's most famous faces have come together to honour the stars who've found themselves at the centre of some of the biggest storylines of the past year. The 2025 categories include Best on-screen Partnership, Best Newcomer, Best Storyline, Best Young Performer, Scene of the Year, Outstanding Achievement Award and the Tony Warren Award.
However, Tina and Jorgie suffered an extremely awkward moment when they both rocked up on the red carpet wearing the exact same gown. Jorgie, 37, looked gorgeous as she stepped out in a sheer gold dress. The actress posed for snaps in the gown, which showed off her toned physique and left very little to imagination.
She completed her look with minimal jewellery, including a silver diamonté bracelet and a silver watch, the Mirror reports.
Her signature blonde hair was slicked back in a tight bun style, completing her classy look.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Tina, who is best known for playing Sarah Platt in Coronation Street, looked equally as beautiful at the star-studded event where she was snapped alongside her daughter, Scarlett Thomas.
Similarly to Jorgie, Tina kept her accessories to a minimum, wearing only a small pair of earrings.
However, she did go for a very different hairstyle, with her long blonde locks styled into voluminous waves which cascaded freely down her shoulders and rested on her chest.
The two soap stars appeared on the red carpet just ten minutes apart, which thankfully prevented an awkward run in had they arrived at the same time in the same outfit.
Coronation Street and Hollyoaks are set to go head-to-head in the Best British Soap category, while Tina's on-screen family, The Platts, are nominated for Best Family.
They will be competing against the likes of EastEnders' The Slaters, The Dingles from Emmerdale and The Osbornes from Hollyoaks.
Taking to social media to comment on the awkward situation, one fan remarked: "Not Tina O'Brien and Jorgie Porter wearing the same dress."
However, while fans eagerly wait in anticipation to find out who will be crowned the winners, many have been left disappointed that the event isn't airing live on TV.
The awards ceremony is airing on Thursday night instead to make way for the Britain's Got Talent finale on ITV tonight on Saturday May 31.
Taking to X to complain about the delay in broadcast, one fan fumed: "It's ridiculous that the British Soap Awards isn't live… there's more hype for the soap stars arriving outside for something not even airing on tv for another week than there is the Britain's Got Talent final… sort it out for next year please @itv."
A second echoed: "Soap Awards getting spoiled because ITV thinks people would rather watch BGT instead."
A third angry fan chimed in: "The soap awards not being aired live is such a let down, who at ITV thought that was a good idea? There isn't any point watching it now... #BritishSoapAwards."

Liam Gallagher's tipple on Oasis tour - and it's not what you'd expect
Liam Gallagher has been taking a more wholesome approach to life on the road after reuniting with brother Noel Gallagher for the Oasis Live '25 Tour. Liam Gallagher, notorious for his wild partying and boozy escapades, is now adopting a more wholesome lifestyle on tour. Fans shouldn't expect to witness him downing tequila shots or guzzling pints, as he now has a new tipple of choice. And it's not what fans might expect. The rock star, 52, has opted for a healthier approach to touring life after reuniting with his brother Noel Gallagher, 58, for the Oasis Live '25 Tour. He's reportedly sipping apple cider vinegar tea in a bid to safeguard his voice and ensure peak performance. Having previously struggled with vocal issues and undergone cortisone injections for inflamed vocal cords, Liam is prioritising the protection of his voice as he embarks on the UK dates of his monumental tour according to the Mirror. Fans have spotted Liam clutching an oak-coloured beverage on stage. However, it seems to reportedly be a special tea blend containing honey and other soothing ingredients according to the publication. Despite the singer admitting that his new favourite drink provides key health benefits, he knocks points off for its lack of a kick while on the road. In his 2018 documentary As It Was, Liam revealed: "I drink a lot of funky drinks. I have this apple cider vinegar, the one that everyone bangs on about. Apparently, it's great for everything. Mam has it for arthritis and it's really good for her. "So I have vinegar, some honey and then I have some turmeric, some cayenne pepper, a squirt of lemon, hot water, stir it round and drink it. It's really good for when you get a hoarse voice. I've got a thyroid problem – Hashimoto's disease – so I can get a really hoarse voice. "It makes you tired and your bones are creaky, but you have this drink and it makes you a bit Jumping Jack Flash." Oasis have already taken the stage at Heaton Park on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Wednesday 16 July and are set to return to their stomping ground for two additional performances in the Manchester park this weekend. They brothers are scheduled to perform on both Saturday, 19 July, and Sunday, 20 July, marking their final two evenings in their hometown. The band will then progress to London's Wembley Stadium, where they are due to appear on July 25, 26 and 30 and August 2 and 3. They will move on to perform in Scotland for fans at Edinburgh's Murrayfield on the weekend of 8 and 9 August, and on Tuesday, August 12. The Gallagher brothers will be occupied with the tour until the end of the year, with performances scheduled up to late November. The final night of their tour is scheduled for November 23 in Brazil.

The 1970s and 80s hit was deemed too naughty for modern audiences. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 2 Sitcom Open All Hours has been hit with a woke trigger warning - pictured Ronnie Barker, Lynda Baron and David Jason Credit: UK TV 2 The sitcom followed the fortunes of stammering shopkeeper Albert Arkwright, played by Barker Credit: Scope Features It followed the fortunes of stammering shopkeeper Albert Arkwright, played by Barker, and ran for four seasons on BBC1, with more than 15 million viewers at its peak. But catch-up service ITVX, which owns the rights, warns it 'contains language and sex references which may offend some viewers'. In an episode in season one, randy Arkwright fakes an illness to attract the attention of Lynda Baron's Nurse Gladys, who is said to have a 'tightly packed blouse'. Another in series four sees Albert's nephew and assistant Granville (Sir David Jason) place an innuendo-filled advert in the dating section of a local newspaper. Other episodes warn of 'language of the time that may offend'. Senior Tory MP Sir Alec Shelbrooke blasted: 'There are things in these shows that society has moved on from, such as racist language. 'But innuendo was and is the backbone and hallmark of some of the best British comedy for generations. This type of warning represents everything that has gone wrong in our country.' We previously reported how shows including Father Ted and The Royle Family had been hit with warnings. ITVX was asked to comment.

Coronation Street character 'still alive and set to join soap' as fake death 'rumbled'
Coronation Street fans are convinced that the constant mentions of a dead character on the ITV soap recently are a sign they are secretly still alive and will head to Weatherfield There could be a return from the dead for a Coronation Street character, with fans claiming to have spotted some clues. The character in question was murdered offscreen years earlier, while we only learned of their existence in the past year or so. Becky Swain was the mother of teen Betsy Swain, and the wife of detective Lisa Swain. Lisa has opened up about the loss of her partner in the line of duty a fair few times, and more recently she was forced to face her past when she opened up in therapy. The death was revisited recently more than once with newcomers Matty and Logan Radcliffe, earlier this year, with their link to the death revealed. Details about what led to Becky's death, and rumours of her being corrupt ahead of her demise, have kept the plot and the mystery of it going. With that, the constant mentions of her and the desire to know what really happened has left fans questioning if there's more to be revealed, and more to happen. Amid new spoilers teasing a twist about Lisa's new partner Carla Connor, which we will not share in case fans have yet to see it, fans are wondering if an almighty bombshell will be dropped soon. While plenty of fans are willing to bet Becky is very much dead, and some are calling for the speculation of her being alive to end, other fans can't drop the idea that Becky may be in hiding. The theory has once again been shared following new episodes and twists, with fans now once again convinced Becky will head to Weatherfield very much alive. Taking to social media one fan said: "What if Carla really does do a deep dive and finds out Becky is not only bent but also alive? What if those scenes at the park are her having to break the news to Lisa alongside the Private investigator?" Another fan posted: "Feels like a juggernaut coming down the line but I could be wrong. Is Becky - deceased wife of DC Swain and mother of Betsy - not dead? My very much of a guess is - she was undercover as a bent copper, big scary criminals, faked death to save her family, witness protection, yadda yadda yadda and suddenly TA-DA!!! "It's all the endless references and musings about a character we've never met. Feels like something's afoot. Also a handy nemesis for Carla? That's always a good thing." A further post said: "I agree that the endless references about someone who we have never met is suspicious!" One torn fan then posted: "The only reason I think she has to be dead is surely a post mortem was carried out given the circumstances and surely Lisa had to identify her or saw her in her coffin." Another fan said: "Typical soap, if they don't die on screen, they're not actually dead." The theory kept on being shared, with one fan writing: "Yeah, I don't recall exactly what it was, but before the footy break a Swarla convo made me say Becky isn't dead." Another viewer said: "Wouldn't surprise me if Becky's still alive."
