A local hero with Sauchie, Morgan came out of retirement to help the East of Scotland club this season after initially hanging up his boots in May last year.
His return came just a few months after scoring the winner in a cup final that was supposed to be his last match.
Morgan was brought up in Sauchie and first signed for the Reds as a 20-year-old and had been both vice-captain and captain of the club.
He spent two years away from Beechwood Park at Bo'ness United, leaving in 2018 and coming back in 2020.
Sauchie sent their condolences to his wife, Zoe, and daughter, Poppy as they confirmed the news on social media.
They posted a tribute to the midfielder and described him as 'one of their own'.
A statement read: "Sauchie Juniors were saddened to learn of the passing of midfielder Brian Morgan, aged 35.
"Brian passed away on Wednesday morning, following being admitted to hospital after a cardiac arrest.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his wife Zoe and daughter Poppy, as well as his close family, friends and all who knew him.
"Being a local boy to Sauchie, Brian's affiliation with the club started when he watched the team as a youngster before he signed for the club in 2010 as a 20-year-old under former manager and his brother-in-law, Fraser Duncan.
"He contributed a fair share to the club's success and lifting of silverware, including scoring two free kicks to ensure promotion to the East Superleague in 2012.
"After an initial spell of eight-and-a-half years at the club, he moved on to a new challenge at Bo'ness United.
"A notable moment in Brian's second spell came in the final of the East of Scotland League Cup against Haddington Athletic. This game in particular was set to be his final game for the club, announcing he would retire following the game's conclusion.
"Looking to sign off in style, he would score the winner in extra time with a leaping header to ensure victory.
"Brian would take his seat in the stand for the start of the 2024/25 season, but the itch of playing would become too much and he pulled the boots back on last November.
"It wasn't long before he reaffirmed himself as a regular in the starting XI and scoring goals.
"His last game for the club would come on 12th April in a 3-2 home victory over Glenrothes, scoring our first goal to help us on our way to three points.
"Unfortunately, we do not have the exact figures for Brian's appearances and goals for the club over his three spells; both like his contributions are countless.
"Rest in Peace, Morgy. One of our own."
Other clubs from across Scotland paid their respects to Morgan.
League Two side Stirling Albion said: "Everyone at Stirling Albion sends our deepest condolences to everyone at Sauchie along with Brian's family and friends."
West of Scotland Premier Division outfit Clydebank said: "Desperately sad news, our thoughts are with you all."
East of Scotland Premier Division rivals Penicuik Athletic posted: "Everyone at Penicuik Athletic offers our sincerest condolences to everyone at Sauchie, his family and friends following this tragic news."
Dunbar United said: "Absolutely heartbreaking to read this, all our thoughts go out to Brian's family and friends and everyone one at Sauchie. RIP Brian."
Team mate Chris Donnelly posted a photo of the pair and said: "This was taken at training on the Tuesday night, we both scored at the weekend and in usual Morgy style he was trying to say his goal was better from our win, an absolutely amazing player and even better off the park, boy was a legend, devastated, thoughts with his family."
Berwick Rangers midfielder Scott Taylor-MacKenzie, who played against Morgan, said: "We had some battles on the pitch but always a laugh and a hand shake after. Anytime playing Sauchie you knew you have to work hard and if Morgy was up against you then you knew you where in for a f hard day. What a player. Love to Brian's family and to you all at Sauchie."
Fans were quick to share messages of condolence too, with one describing him as a "gentleman".
Another said: "Desperately sad news. Sending condolences to Brian's family and to the club. A real competitor on the pitch."
A third commented: "Horrible news, so sorry to hear this. Brilliant obituary, great to read about his contributions to Sauchie Juniors over the years."
And a Sauchie supporter said: "RIP my friend, Sauchie legend."

Darwin Nunez's Liverpool exit edges closer in next stage of Reds' summer transfer plan
Darwin Nunez is heavily linked with the Liverpool exit door and the striker could find himself heading to Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal making the Uruguayan their top target Al Hilal are ramping up their efforts to sign Liverpool's Darwin Nunez after identifying him as their priority target this summer. The Saudi side have eyed a number of strikers but have now landed on the Uruguayan. Nunez's exit has been expected this summer, although a number of routes out of Anfield have been closed off. His form has tailed off and, despite once being the Reds' record-signing at £85million, Arne Slot is ready to move the striker on with the Middle East now his likely landing spot. Back in January Liverpool turned down an offer from another Saudi side in Al Nassr, but Al Hilal have since come to the negotiating table and been told the conditions of the deal. The Athletic reports that no offer has been lodged, but the transfer moves have begun. Al Hilal, now led by former Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi, had pursued Victor Osimhen before he joined Galatasaray. Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko were on their radar but both men were considered to be beyond them. Nunez previously had a host of Europe's top sides eyeing his services following his breakout season with Benfica. At Liverpool though he's struggled for consistency, scoring 40 times in 143 games. However last year he only found the net seven times. Aleksandar Mitrovic has led the line for Al Hilal since leaving Fulham to join the Saudi outfit, but they are looking to raid the Premier League for more attacking reinforcements. Liverpool meanwhile have made adding more forwards a priority this summer, which has impacted on Nunez's standing at Anfield. Hugo Ekitike has been signed from Frankfurt for £79m and will aid the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and new signing Florian Wirtz. The Reds are now going after Isak, who has made it clear he wants to explore his options away from Newcastle. The Magpies have rejected an £110m offer for the Swedish frontman and Liverpool could return with a fresh offer if the striker does push harder for the exit door. Nunez's possible sale could help finance a renewed bid for Isak with the club recently green lighting the departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, which has banked the Reds £65.5m. Lions tour ratings as Jac Morgan rises to the challenge but Ireland star 'completely wretched'
Lions tour ratings as Jac Morgan rises to the challenge but Ireland star 'completely wretched' Some members of Andy Farrell's squad shone Down Under while others underwhelmed Morgan has earned solid reviews on his maiden Lions campaign (Image:) The British & Irish Lions' tour of Australia is done and dusted, with Andy Farrell's side returning home with a series win despite missing out on a historic clean sweep against the Wallabies. It has been another thrilling summer of rugby, which kicked off with defeat to Argentina in Dublin over six weeks ago and culminated in another loss in Sydney as Farrell's men were denied a 3-0 series win. However, those two matches were the only times that the Lions tasted defeat as they recorded eight successive victories on Australian soil before Saturday's eventful third Test. As ever, some tourists shone during their time Down Under, with others failing to live up to expectations. In the wake of the tour ending, some of the country's top rugby journalists and pundits have given their take on who impressed and who didn't, handing out individual scores to those that took on the Wallabies. While he may have been the lone Welshman in the squad for much of the tour following an early injury to Tomos Williams, flanker Jac Morgan did his country proud as he flew the flag for Wales with distinction. Sign up to Inside Welsh rugby on Substack to get exclusive news stories and insight from behind the scenes in Welsh rugby. The Ospreys star may have missed out on selection for the first clash with Australia - in what was the first Lions Test to not feature a Welsh player since 1896 - but he played a crucial, if controversial role in winning the second Test while he also scored a try in the third having come off the bench. Morgan, who proved to be a hugely popular tourist amongst his team-mates and supporters, has subsequently received a solid set of scores from some of the journalists that watched him in action across the series. The BBC and the Press Association have both awarded his efforts with a 7.5, while Sky Sports and The Telegraph have scored his performances across the Tests as a seven. Article continues below He has been hailed as "a force off the bench" by PA, with both Sky and the Telegraph noting the "huge... superb" impact he made as a replacement. The BBC added that Morgan "was terrific against the Reds and First Nations and Pasifika, and totally deserved his two Test caps," before describing him as "a serious player," while the review from Sky said the 25-year-old "flew the Welsh flag on his own for the most part and rose to the challenge". Meanwhile, the highest praise was reserved for the official player of the tour, Tadhg Beirne, while captain Maro Itoje, forwards Dan Sheehan and Tom Curry and backs Hugo Keenan and Finn Russell were among the other highest scorers across the board. Beirne was viewed by some as a contentious pick by Farrell when the squad was selected earlier this year, but the Ireland star more than justified his involvement with three huge performances across the Test series, getting on the scoresheet in the second clash in Melbourne. He has now earned rave reviews, with the BBC rating his series performance as a 9.5 while Sky and PA went with a nine and the Telegraph awarded him an eight. Beirne is credited by the latter with "changing the momentum of the series" with his "sensational" displays, while the BBC described him as "an utter machine", Sky as "electric" and PA as "a worthy player of the tour winner". Itoje, meanwhile also scored highly, with the BBC awarding him a nine for his efforts as captain across the series. The England lock "can be proud of his performances and the way he led the side," according to Sky, while PA described him as a "bona fide Lions great". Ireland hooker Sheehan was hailed as "a player of the series contender who is redefining the role of hooker" by PA, while Tom Curry was labelled "sensational" and "demonic" by the BBC, with the Telegraph adding that the England star "completely vindicated Farrell's faith in him." Keenan - whose last-gasp try won the second Test and, with it, the series in Melbourne - was hailed as "the hero" of that match by Sky, while PA said he "secured Lions immortality" in the process. Russell, meanwhile, "was in 'player of the series' territory" before a very difficult day at the office in Sydney, according to the BBC, with the Scotland fly-half described as "utterly brilliant at times" by Sky. However, at the other end of the spectrum, some of Farrell's men underwhelmed, with Ireland centre Bundee Aki getting the lowest individual score of the lot as The Telegraph rated his series performance as a three overall. "Urgh," the damning assessment began. "Farrell was vindicated in some of his controversial picks (Curry, Beirne) but his faith in 35-year-old Aki was utterly misplaced. Completely wretched in the third Test." Aki's international team-mate James Lowe also scored poorly across the board, with Sky's rating of a six the highest he received. The Telegraph, who gave him a four, wrote that the wing was "defensively all over the shop and [his] handling was not great either," while the BBC said he had "a poor tour" and PA said he "performed below his usual standard". Another Irishman, hooker Ronan Kelleher, also received a score of four from The Telegraph, as the review claimed that "as soon as he came on in all three Tests, the line-out started wobbling like a jelly". 'We look worse than last season'
We asked for your views on Here's what some of you said: Jim: Different day, the same old rubbish. Now I understand why Southampton were relegated, they were lucky to get a draw. Keep playing in that format and in that way, they'll be lucky to stay in the top half of the league, an absolutely abysmal A new season and a new manager with new players, but the same old performance. Nothing new that wasn't there last season, poor passing, poor kick outs, and, considering the amount of corners, only one goal. Shocking. The same old excuses that we have heard before many Nothing much seems to have changed since last season. I hope we improve but I was never sure about our new manager. We need better tactics and not to think that one goal would be enough. The killer instinct of the last season we won the league seems to have deserted us. We need a whole new plan and the players and coaching staff need to play for the The most worrying thing is we look worse than last season. No pace in defence or attack, no midfield and no goal scorer up front. We were very luck to get through in the Champions League but we were exposed as mediocre at best. Europa League and second in the Premiership is the best we can hope for. Hopefully the new American owners will act to remedy the situation before the whole season is a write off yet Pathetic performance, not enough skill in the team to play Russell Martin's way. Too laboured on the ball - too slow in thought and action. After this display and the coach's words I am really worried for this season. Top-six Poor show. I was not inspired by the choice of manager nor have I been impressed by the new signings. I wouldn't be surprised if we finish fourth, never mind second. Lack of determination to win.
