‘UP traders driving eco growth, nation-building'
Lucknow: During the 'Bhamashah Samman Samaroh' organised by the state tax department at Lok Bhavan on Saturday, Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh said, "UP's traders have not only strengthened the state's economic resources but have also played a vital role in social service and nation-building. " Calling the business class a reflection of "effort, enterprise, and execution," he hailed them as a driving force behind Uttar Pradesh's emergence as a global trade hub. Drawing inspiration from Bhamashah, the historic figure known for donating his wealth to Maharana Pratap, Dr Singh said, "Bhamashah is a timeless symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and service. Today's traders mirror the same commitment to national progress." Highlighting UP's trade surge, he noted that foreign exports touched $21.98 billion in FY 2024–25, while GST collections reached Rs 9,956 crore in April alone — underlining the merchant class's growing economic influence.
