YouTube's conversational AI was made available to Premium users about two years ago, so this seems to be a big step toward expanding more AI-powered features to non-Premium users.
As the name suggests, this feature has been designed to answer questions and suggest related content in real-time without interrupting your playback experience. Since it's only been released in the US, it's only available in English.

On this date 18 years ago, the world was changed forever
Today is June 29th which probably means nothing to you. But if you are a long-time smartphone fanatic, this date is very important. On June 29th, 2007, Apple released the first-generation iPhone. The device was introduced on January 9th, 2007 by the late Steve Jobs but Apple needed the time to manufacture enough units. After all, ever since Jobs unveiled the device back in January, everyone was talking about the iPhone. If you weren't around back then, you probably can't grasp how exciting the iPhone was. With the touch screen and multi-touch, it was clear that Apple had a device that was going to change the world. Back in 2007, the process of buying an iPhone was a lot cruder than it is now. Starting a few days before the June 29th release, people started to wait in line overnight in front of Apple Stores. 18 years ago today, consumers could choose between the iPhone with 4GB of storage ($499) and 8GB ($599). In the States, both models required a two-year contract with AT&T. I bought a 4GB model not too long after it was released and I can clearly remember how slow AT&T 's EDGE network was. You see, the OG iPhone did not support 3G which means that the phone was connected to AT&T 's 2.5G EDGE network. When not in Wi-Fi range, the YouTube app was blurry and looked awful. You could not use the browser and receive a phone call at the same time. If you had Safari open, incoming calls would go right to visual voicemail. Two months after the release date, Apple discontinued the 4GB variant and in February 2008 a 16GB model was released. Those who kept a 4GB model in the original box and never opened it are sitting on a goldmine. In July 2023, an unopened 4GB iPhone was sold for a record amount of $190,372.80. The iPhone 3G, which brought 3G connectivity to the device, was introduced on June 9th, 2008 and was released on July 11th. Apple cut the price significantly charging $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB variant which was available in black and white. Of course, a two-year AT&T contract was still required in the U.S. The iPhone pretty much had the high-end of the touch screen smartphone market to itself for a couple of years despite several phones that were called iPhone killers. In hindsight, the first legit iPhone killer was the Motorola DROID, a Verizon exclusive and the first phone to run Android 2.0 Eclair. The DROID was released in November 2009. While many celebrate January 9th as the anniversary of the OG iPhone, that is only half the story. It's hard to believe but 18 years ago today was really the day that the world changed. Promised T-Mobile feature is live in T-Life for real this time
T-Mobile took a lot longer than anticipated to bring back self-service SIM swaps but the feature is finally working. Earlier this month, it was reported that T-Mobile 's T-Life app gained an option to let customers change SIM cards associated with their numbers on their own. This was a long-overdue change. The company disabled the feature in 2022 when SIM swap attacks, which let criminals hijack numbers for theft and other ill motives, became rampant. A huge update reinstated the feature, at least for iPhone users. However, it was later discovered that the feature didn't actually work for the vast majority of users. It failed at the last step. So, even though the feature popped up, it was as good as useless. The feature is now working, according to some customers. It still has some kinks apparently, especially when it comes to eSIMs. T-Life is now letting you change your SIM for real. | Image Credit - Square-Elevator-4371 Regardless, it's great to see actual progress on this front. T-Mobile will likely iron out any bugs that are present to ensure the process is smooth and effortless. T-Mobile presumably wanted to put guardrails in place before bringing back the feature. It's not clear why the company kept the feature disabled after officially rolling it out. If we had to guess, it could be that T-Mobile was waiting for a company-wide implementation of the employee identification verification system CLEAR1 before enabling self-service SIM swaps. After all, employees who were persuaded by cybercriminals to assist with SIM swap attacks were one of the reasons they were successful. With this new identity assurance system in place, it's going to be much harder for bad actors to pull off SIM hijacking. T-Life has only gotten better over time, at least as far as the number of things it lets you do is concerned. Two Apple Watch models are reportedly about to get major upgrades — and one is long overdue

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, both products are expected to launch later this year, bringing some much-needed changes to the lineup. The most significant update is coming to the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Gurman first reported at the end of last year that this model could introduce satellite messaging, allowing users to send short messages even when they don't have access to cellular or Wi-Fi networks. If this feature arrives as expected, it would mark a major step toward making the Ultra a more independent device — especially useful for hikers, athletes, or anyone spending time off the grid. So far, the Apple Watch Ultra has seen only small changes since it launched in 2022. A new chip was added in 2023, and a black titanium option became available last year. A bigger feature like satellite connectivity would help justify an upgrade for current Ultra owners and give Apple something new to highlight in its fall lineup. At the same time, Apple is planning to refresh the Apple Watch SE. This is the company's entry-level model, aimed at people who want a smartwatch but don't need all the advanced features found in the Ultra or Series models. The current SE hasn't been updated since 2022, so a refresh is overdue. While details are still limited, we could see improvements like a faster chip, better battery life, or small design tweaks. The wearables, home, and accessories division saw a 7% drop in revenue last fiscal year. The Apple Watch alone fell more than 14% and could decline again this year. If satellite messaging does arrive, Apple would be among the first to offer such a feature in a consumer-grade smartwatch. While Garmin offers emergency satellite capabilities in some of its outdoor-focused wearables, the feature is not widespread across mainstream smartwatches. This could give Apple a competitive edge, especially among adventure and fitness enthusiasts who value reliable off-grid communication. It's encouraging to see Apple may be giving more attention to its smartwatch lineup, especially after a few years of minimal changes. A more capable Ultra model with satellite connectivity could open up new use cases, and a refreshed SE might attract more first-time smartwatch buyers. If executed well, these updates could help Apple regain some of the momentum it's lost in the wearables space. Still, the real test will be whether these new features translate into real-world value for everyday users — and whether Apple can balance innovation with the kind of reliability and polish that its customers expect.
