Iran downs Israeli F-35 as strikes kill more nuclear scientists
In a statement released by the Army's public relations office, Iranian officials confirmed the aircraft was intercepted and destroyed in Iranian airspace. 'The pilot activated the ejection system,' the statement read, 'but his fate remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.'
The development comes as Israeli airstrikes continued to target sensitive military and nuclear sites across several Iranian provinces.
Iranian media also confirmed the deaths of three more nuclear scientists in the latest Israeli strikes. The victims were identified as Ali Bakaei Karimi, Mansour Askari, and Saeed Borji, all reportedly involved in advanced nuclear energy research.
The Israeli military has not confirmed the F-35 downing but stated that a total of nine Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed so far in its air campaign. This marks the deadliest targeted operation against Iran's nuclear personnel in over a decade.
As a precautionary measure, Israeli media reported that all civilian aircraft operated by Israeli airlines have been relocated to Cyprus, Greece, and the United States.

Iraq committed to ending Kurdistan salary deadlock
Shafaq News – Erbil/Baghdad The Iraqi government is determined to end the ongoing salary crisis in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq's National Security Advisor Qassim al-Araji revealed Thursday. Speaking during a visit to the graves of Kurdish leader Mullah Mustafa Barzani and his son Idris Barzani, al-Araji confirmed Baghdad's 'serious commitment' to financial justice for public employees in the Region, emphasizing the need to resolve disagreements between Erbil and Baghdad 'under the constitution and applicable laws.' While describing the issue as a priority for the Iraqi government, he pointed to the formation of a high-level ministerial committee to fast-track the resolution. The dispute escalated in May after Baghdad linked wage disbursements to Erbil's full handover of oil exports to the state-run SOMO company and stricter controls over non-oil revenues. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) rejected the terms, arguing they exceeded the scope of earlier agreements and insisting it had already met its obligations. To break the impasse, a KRG delegation arrived in Baghdad on Monday for talks. According to MP Sabah Sobhi of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), these high-level meetings will soon resolve the salary and oil file.

Officials say the development reflects renewed confidence in Iraq's air navigation capabilities and the full recovery of its airspace following recent regional tensions. According to a Wednesday statement by the ministry, airlines such as Air France, Russia's Red Wings, Uzbekistan Airways, and Air India have resumed using Iraqi airspace. New international cargo and private carriers from Austria, Turkey, and San Marino are also now flying over the country regularly. Abbas al-Baydani, director of Iraq's General Company for Air Navigation Services (GCANS), said the return of global carriers "clearly demonstrates the enhanced trust of global airlines in Iraqi airspace, reflecting our technical and regulatory readiness in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO].' Baydani noted that overflights now exceed 700 aircraft per day - the highest level of aviation traffic Iraq has ever recorded. For his part, Mudhar Thamer, director of Air Traffic Management at GCANS, said the increase is being managed with 'the highest levels of efficiency in determining routes and altitudes to ensure air traffic safety.' The ministry described the recovery as a vital step toward revitalizing the country's aviation sector and reaffirming Iraq's strategic aerial position in the region. Air traffic across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region officially resumed on June 24, ending a 10-day closure prompted by the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Iran on June 13. Tensions spiked after Israeli airstrikes in Iran killed senior military commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel. The situation escalated further on June 22 when the United States struck three Iranian nuclear sites. Tehran retaliated by launching a missile strike on a US base in Qatar. A ceasefire, brokered by Washington, was reached two days later. The Israel-Iran conflict led to a full closure of Iraqi and Kurdistan Region airspace. Dilan Rashad, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) transport ministry, then told Rudaw the 10-day suspension resulted in the cancellation of 1,283 flights across the Region's airports.

Israel pressures Hamas with disarm-or-war ultimatum
Shafaq News – Middle East Israel has reportedly issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas to disarm or face a renewed military campaign in Gaza once the proposed 60-day truce concludes, Sky News Arabia quoted a senior Israeli official on Thursday. The official noted that while a temporary ceasefire deal and hostage release could be reached within one to two weeks, a final agreement is not imminent. 'If the 60-day ceasefire is accepted, Israel plans to use the pause to propose a lasting truce contingent on Hamas disarmament.' The remarks come as indirect talks between Israel and Hamas continue, with international mediators seeking to secure a phased ceasefire, hostage exchanges, and humanitarian aid access.
