What did Cam Thomas say? Brooklyn Nets player seeks respect amid contract uncertainty
This off-season, Brooklyn Nets guard
Cam Thomas
has his first taste of free agency amidst his struggle to get the salary he wants. He has indicated that he would like to return to the Brooklyn Nets, and the team also appears ready to bring him back.
Additionally, recently, he was frank about the issue, indicating that he doesn't feel that he should be classified as a lesser performer than guys like Tyler Herro, RJ Barrett, or Immanuel Quickley.
Cam Thomas
seeks big payday in free agency amid uncertain future with Brooklyn Nets
Perhaps the worst time to be a restricted free agent in the NBA has been this summer. There is a certain set of players on the other side of free agency who have not yet signed contracts, even though the majority of unrestricted players are being signed or at least have suitors.
Despite having strong seasons, Cam Thomas,
Jonathan Kuminga
, Josh Giddey, and Quentin Grimes are still available. At the age of 23, Cam Thomas has averaged 24 points per game. Despite missing most of the season due to injury, the Brooklyn Nets player improved as a scorer.
After enjoying the best season of his career in 2024-25, he is a restricted free agent this offseason. However, it appears like all of the other prominent restricted free agents are having to slow-play their talks.

Given that he has yet to sign contracts despite having strong statistical seasons, many have started to question whether the
NBA
should do away with limited free agency. According to reports, Cam Thomas feels that he is not a player that should be considered inferior to Tyler Herro, RJ Barrett, or Immanuel Quickley.
As Brian Lewis of the New York Post described the circumstances between Brooklyn Nets and Cam Thomas, he wrote:
"Thomas has openly said he views himself as one of the best shooting guards in the league.'

He then went on to discuss what the player might be searching for. There has been much debate over the last few years over its value in relation to the NBA. He further wrote:
"A source familiar with Thomas' thinking said he does not consider himself inferior to Immanuel Quickley ($32.5 million this upcoming season), Tyler Herro ($31 million) or RJ Barrett ($27.7 million).'
Meanwhile, Cam Thomas' future is still uncertain as he has yet to join a team.

Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy: Just 54 runs! Shubman Gill's record-breaking series tarnished only by London low
Shubman Gill (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: India captain Shubman Gill finished the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a towering legacy, cementing one of the finest Test series ever by an Indian batter. With 754 runs at a staggering average of 83.78 across five Tests, Gill was not only the leading run-scorer of the series, but also the key architect of India's historic comeback. Live Score: India vs England 5th Test His series included four centuries in 10 innings, a feat matched only by Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar in a single series as captain. Gill also became the first-ever captain to score four hundreds in his debut Test series as skipper. The 25-year-old also broke Gavaskar's long-standing record of 732 runs as Indian captain in a single series, set in 1978 against the West Indies. 05:30 India vs England: India fall short at Lord's, England lead series 2-1 Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! However, in a near-flawless campaign, a strange pattern emerged: Gill faltered only in London. Poll What was the most impressive aspect of Shubman Gill's performance in the Test series? Highest run-scorer with 754 runs Four centuries in a single series Breaking Gavaskar's record At Lord's and The Oval, Gill's scores read: 16, 6, 21, and 11 — a total of 54 runs in four innings at an average of just 13.5. These were also the only matches where he failed to cross 50. Compare that to the rest of the series — 700 runs in six innings outside London, averaging a staggering 87.5, with scores of 147, 8, 269, 161, 12 and 103 — and the contrast is impossible to ignore. Shubman Gill in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy In London - 16, 6 (Lord's) | 21 & 11 (Oval) Outside London - 147, 8 (Leeds) | 269, 161 (Birmingham) | 12 & 103 (Manchester) Gill's performance in the first two Tests, including a career-best 269 in Birmingham, set the tone. He followed that up with a critical 103 in Manchester, helping India survive a tough fourth Test. But in both London venues, he looked far from his fluent best, falling early and cheaply each time. With 6000 international runs now under his belt, including 18 centuries, Gill's rise is unstoppable. Yet, the question remains — why did the London conditions get the better of him while he thrived elsewhere?
