Why Nonprofits Need To Focus More On Recurring Giving

Matt Nash is the executive director of The Blackbaud Giving Fund, a donor-advised fund that connects nonprofits to generous donors. A recent analysis by the GivingTuesday Data Commons found that increasing the share of new donors who sign up for recurring gifts by 10 percentage points could add $20 billion to the nonprofit sector each year. This predictable flow of funds offers nonprofits a stable source of funding, increased financial stability, ongoing donor support and increased engagement. With recurring giving, nonprofits can more effectively strategize upcoming programming and initiatives and make tangible progress toward achieving their mission. But what classifies as recurring giving? Recurring giving comes in several formats, including donations from credit cards, donor-advised fund (DAF) accounts or company-sponsored workplace giving programs. Each method offers donors the opportunity to 'set it and forget it,' meaning they initiate a donation one time and schedule it to recur at regular intervals (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.). These methods provide automated and tax-efficient ways to contribute consistently, making it easier for donors to commit to ongoing support. Recurring giving allows donors to make valuable contributions without making a conscious effort each time they donate. Incorporating a few simple tactics into fundraising and communications strategies can help nonprofits enhance their efforts while giving donors opportunities to make a lasting impact with minimal effort. Any size nonprofit can (and should!) incorporate recurring gifting into their fundraising strategies because it is valuable for nonprofits and the communities they serve. Why Increase Your Focus On Recurring Giving? Here are some key benefits of recurring giving: The retention rate for recurring donors is close to 70%. It's incredible to know that once a donor consciously decides to support a nonprofit, the majority will continue their contributions. Additionally, someone who opts in to recurring giving will continue supporting that nonprofit for just over eight years, while a non-recurring giver donates to a nonprofit for a little over a year and a half. Thus, the benefits of encouraging existing donors to participate in recurring giving can far exceed encouraging one-time gifts. High retention rates don't happen automatically. Nonprofits must consistently nurture these relationships so donors remain invested and engaged. Half of recurring donors make additional gifts, according to research from Neon One. Their data also found that in 2022, the average annual donation total for recurring donors was just over $940. Between 2018 and 2022, nonprofits experienced an average of 127% growth in donors who gave regularly. To put that in perspective, if a nonprofit had 20 recurring givers entering 2018 and experienced the 127% growth, by the end of 2022, they would have more than doubled that number to 45. If we consider the average yearly recurring donation ($940), the nonprofit could expect to see a jump from $18,800 from 20 donors to $42,300 from 45 donors. Imagine the impact a nonprofit could make with an additional $23,500 in funding! Additionally, it costs a nonprofit less time and effort to cultivate and retain existing donors than to identify and retain new ones. Not only does a nonprofit have the opportunity to increase monetary donations, but it can also spend less time identifying new revenue streams—a win-win. Investing effort toward maintaining current supporters could result in a larger and more stable revenue stream. Increased awareness of incoming funds allows nonprofits to track and project monthly expenses more effectively. Knowing this, nonprofits can identify opportunities for new or expanded programs and initiatives. How To Encourage Recurring Giving Now that the benefits are clear, here are some proven strategies to encourage recurring giving: • Remind DAF donors they can schedule grants. Identify and inform donors that use DAFs about the option to schedule donations and emphasize how it can amplify their impact. • Remind donors they can enroll in payroll giving for a series of payrolls. Depending on their employer's giving programs, many employees' donations have an accompanying corporate match, which can double or triple their original donation amount. • Make your donation page easily accessible with a seamless user experience. Make sure the page is optimized for both mobile and desktop users to effectively reach donors across all platforms. This will help create a smooth entry point and reinforce the nonprofit's reputation as a reliable organization. Additionally, "pre-selecting monthly giving on your donation page can increase conversions of monthly donations by up to 35%." This simple yet effective tactic can help boost donations and increase a nonprofit's chances of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals. • Build trust with donors by sending personalized communications that highlight the impact their donation has on the community. Leveraging AI is essential here. Use it to analyze CRM data to develop strategies to encourage recurring gifts. Make these touchpoints a regular part of stewardship plans to deepen relationships and encourage continual support. • Promote the emotional aspect of your cause to encourage people to give and keep giving. Emotional storytelling should be an ongoing theme in all public-facing communications to reinforce the connection with the nonprofit's mission. Not A One And Done Donors often disengage when they don't feel appreciated or no longer feel a connection to the mission. Be sure to share regular updates to inform donors how their direct contributions have benefited the community you serve and how their ongoing support will continue to make progress toward achieving your mission. Offering a variety of donation methods, options for smaller monthly contributions, etc., can also help reach donors with different preferences. By embracing recurring giving strategies, your organization can create a more stable revenue stream, build deeper donor connections and ultimately amplify its impact on the communities it serves. Implementing these strategies or enhancing existing recurring giving strategies can lead to a new era of meaningful impact. Omdia: Global Video Conferencing Market Grows 5% to $18 Billion in 2024 Despite Economic Uncertainty

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 4, 2025-- The global video conferencing (VC) market continues to demonstrate resilience, growing by 5% year-over-year in 2024, to reach $18 billion in revenue according to new analysis from Omdia's Market Landscape report. This growth comes despite challenging geopolitical conditions and ongoing economic uncertainties, factors that could influence hybrid work policies, as businesses continue to reimagine the future of work. With this momentum, the market is projected to continue expanding through 2029. This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: Total video conferencing equipment market revenue 'This isn't merely about weathering the storm, it's about strategic transformation,' said Prachi Nema, Principal Analyst, Digital Workplace, Omdia. 'While North America appears saturated and EMEA shows signs of stagnation, Asia & Oceania continue to show promising growth. This reflects the trend in AI adoption, with companies increasingly emphasizing collaboration tools to boost employee productivity in hybrid work settings. The collaborative meetings market grew 4% in 2024, while the VC devices experienced a 6% year-over-year increase. This growth is particularly noteworthy amid ongoing economic slowdowns and shifting enterprise priorities. In the short-to-medium term, Omdia expects the market to grow at a 5% CAGR over the next five years, with total revenue reaching $21 billion by 2029. New users in Asia & Oceania, and EMEA, as well as emerging use cases across sectors such as healthcare, education, and finance, will drive this growth. Additionally, several factors are reshaping the video conferencing landscape: 'However, the market is becoming increasingly commoditized, with very little product differentiation between vendors' offerings,' said Nema. The research highlights a significant disparity in meeting room infrastructure worldwide, with only 6.25% of all meeting rooms fully equipped as standardized spaces or native meeting rooms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms. However, the market for bring-your-own-device (BYOD) rooms is significantly larger than standardized meeting rooms. The demand for BYOD rooms, particularly those that provide quick and easy wired/wireless meeting capabilities, is on the rise. Regionally, North America leads with a 42% subscription market share within collaborative meeting services, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at 27%. Asia & Oceania owns 25% share of the subscription. Globally, only 28% of all meeting rooms have some form of VC capability, highlighting significant growth opportunities for vendors capable of overcoming cost and deployment barriers. Lamborghini Temerario test drive: $380K hybrid supercar delivers mind-boggling performance

Lamborghini's (VWAGY) latest creation, the Temerario supercar, has some big shoes to fill. Let me rephrase that — the 900hp, all-wheel drive, plug-in hybrid Temerario with a 10,000 RPM turbo V8 has some big shoes to fill. Che cosa? That's because it's replacing the much-loved Huracán: the outgoing serpent-like, alien-looking creation equipped with a sublime, yet ferocious when needed, naturally aspirated V-10 engine. The Huracán was amazing. But times are changing. Around a year ago at Monterey Car Week, Lamborghini unveiled the Temerario, which loosely translates to 'reckless' in Italian. The long-in-the-tooth Huracán — which, believe it or not, is over 10 years old and shared some underpinnings with sister brand Audi's R8 — needed a refresh. Lamborghini also sold 30,000 units of the $250K+ Huracán, its best-selling car ever. In other words, it couldn't mess this up. And with changing rules like emissions and electrified propulsion needed in certain European locales, hybrid power was needed. Lamborghini knew it had to convince buyers this wasn't a 'green' thing — it's about performance. It did this convincingly with the Revuelto, its range-topping supercar that combines a V12 with a hybrid system, using electric motors more for performance than range. Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! Affordable Auto Insurance, Customized for You The Insurance Savings You Expect Great Rates and Award-Winning Service Lamborghini's CEO Stephan Winkelmann notes the car is completely new from top to bottom, including, of course, the new powertrain. It has to be exciting, he says, but also livable. Lamborghini seems to have threaded that needle, at least for now: The car is sold out through its first year of production, he said, which is a nice start for the brand. The drive I took the Temerario on the track for a few sessions to put the car through its performance envelope. Styling-wise, it's a sleek, attractive car that fits the mold of what regular people envision when they think of a supercar. It's wide, low-slung, and angular. Not as extreme as the Huracán, but sexy in its own right. The rear is more interesting, with its fully exposed V-8 engine out back and fenders with wide cut-outs exposing the car's bulging rear tires, a nod to motorcycle design. One area the Temerario vastly improves on the Huracán is the interior. Better materials all around, better infotainment and instrument cluster digital screens with nice animations —and more space owing to slightly larger dimensions. Fewer buttons is not a welcome change, though it seems most of these functions are now controls on the steering wheel. On the track is where it all comes together. With its hybrid system, the Temerario features two motors powering each front wheel individually, giving the car true torque vectoring. That means the wheels can spin and apply force independently on their own. This also means that, while the rear wheels are powered by the monster V8, the front wheels can provide force at different times, like during an aggressive turn, keeping the car's line true and giving extra assistance around corners. Traction is of course improved as well. So handling-wise, the car feels a lot smaller than it really is, which makes even the most aggressive track easier to deal with. But true heart of the beast is its twin turbo, flat-plane-crank V8 motor. Combined with the two motors up front and one sandwiched in between the 8-speed transmission, the Temerario has a mind-boggling 900hp on tap. The engine alone is a marvel, able to spin up to 10,000 RPM. It is designed to keep pulling to that red line. Usually, most motors will start petering out at those heady levels. This allowed the Temerario to hit ungodly, panic-inducing speeds on the straightaways of nearly 200mph, which then meant going hard on the brakes, and then into the next curve without losing it. Those front motors really helped get the car back on the proper race line if you braked too deeply into the first turn, for example. The car allowed me to string faster lap after faster lap in succession, giving me confidence to push harder into every turn, and brake later. Yes, it is overall a better car than the Huracán when it comes to aggressive track driving. And I'm sure it's a perfectly livable car too — meaning, in theory, you could take it around town to run some errands — though I didn't get the chance to drive on local roads. But I have a few complaints, believe it or not. The loss of the Huracán's V10 really hurts from an emotional point of view — the sound of the 10-cylinder revving higher is intoxicating. Yes, the Temerario at 10,000 RPM screaming down the straightaway does give you that emotional kick, but most owners will not be pushing the car anywhere near that mind-boggling limit. Most owners will be driving around town or on some nice backcountry roads. And though I said it was subjective, the styling for me is a bit too toned down too, at least compared to the outgoing Huracán. For a car that starts at $382,654 in the US, we would like more of a wow factor. Lamborghini isn't done with the Temerario Lamborghini won't sit idly when it comes to special or updated versions of the Temerario. Performance models with aggressive styling and enhancements to the powertrain may mean more exciting versions could be coming. This is all part of the game plan. And some buyers actually prefer the base models of Lamborghini's creations because they are the purest form of these vehicles. But, finally, I have to ask: Could we see a Temerario special edition combining a non-turbo screaming V8 with those trick electric motors up front, or one with an aggressive, race car-like aero package?
