Captain Harry Wilson's try one minute from full-time denied Fiji a famous win in Australia.
The Wallabies laboured in their only warm-up fixture before their first Test against the British and Irish Lions on 19 July in Brisbane.

Joe Schmidt's side did little to worry Lions head coach Andy Farrell as Fiji - seeking their first win in Australia in more than 70 years - fought back from 14-5 down to lead 18-15 heading into the closing stages.
"Massively relieved, because you want to get a result," Schmidt said.
"But I am disappointed with the performance and I know the players will be looking for more out of themselves, and that has to happen in a very short space of time.
"Thirteen days' time, we won't be afforded the number of errors that Fiji gave us.
"Fiji were superb. Some of the players we knew would be elusive and quick and powerful, and they turned up and were all those things."

Tries by hooker Dave Porecki and flanker Fraser McReight put the hosts in control as half-time approached.
However, debutant Salesi Rayasi, who is a former New Zealand sevens player, produced a wonderful finish to close the gap in the final play of the half.
A forward pass from Ben Donaldson ruled out a third score for Australia early in the second half as Schmidt's side failed to master spirited Fiji.
A stunning break by Jiuta Wainiqolo from deep inside his own half set up Lekima Tagitagivalu for a try to put Mick Byrne's side back within striking distance.
Fly-half Caleb Muntz kicked two penalties to put the Pacific Island side on the brink of another win over Australia, following their 22-15 victory at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

But Wilson showed great strength to ground the ball under enormous pressure to deny the visitors when they were in sight of victory.
A further area of concern for Australia was the sight of Noah Lolesio, the likely starting fly-half against the Lions, being carried off on a stretcher after a nasty head injury.

Australia clinches series with victory in the 2nd cricket test against West Indies

Associated Press ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada (AP) — Australia completed its recovery to win the second cricket test against West Indies by 133 runs with a day to spare, clinching the series in the process. Australia dismissed West Indies for 143 in 34.3 overs on Day 4 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-test series. On Saturday, half-centuries by Steve Smith and Cameron Green had helped to put Australia back in charge after the visitors lost early wickets in their second innings, at one stage slipping to 28-3. After resuming Sunday at 221-7 — and a lead of 254 runs — Australia was all out for 243, setting West Indies a tricket target of 277 for victory. Shamar Joseph took 4-66. At 33-4, West Indies' chase was in trouble. The match was over in the afternoon session. Left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc returned 3-24 to lead the Australian attack. Captain Roston Chase top scored for West Indies in the second innings with 34. 'A dream start' Australia captain Pat Cummins said the series win happened at a good time for his team which lost last month to South Africa in the World Test Championship final. 'An away (series) win as well, they're not the easiest to come by, so really pumped with how we've bounced back after Lord's," Cummins said. "It's a dream start, two from two gets us into the (new WTC) cycle and we've played some really good cricket.' Australia won the first test against West Indies by 159 runs in three days. The third test, a day-night match, starts Saturday in Kingston, Jamaica. ___ AP cricket: recommended

Roosters half set to be axed amid timely boost after loss to Wests Tigers

Sam Walker looks set to make a timely return for a Sydney Roosters team who have fallen outside the top-eight. And it looks like being bad news for five-eighth Sandon Smith. The Roosters were expected to put a big score on the Wests Tigers on Sunday, and despite scoring five tries to four they lost 30-28. Trent Robinson's side have now slipped to ninth-place on the NRL ladder, but just two points separate them and the Broncos in fifth. In a timely boost for the Tri Colours, star halfback Walker could make his long-awaited return in Round 19 against the Dragons on Saturday. Walker suffered an ACL injury late last year, and his return was delayed even further when he suffered a broken hand four weeks ago. The Roosters said they expected Walker to miss a month with the hand injury, putting him in line for a possible return on Saturday. Walker will likely slot in at halfback, with Hugo Savala shifting to No.6. It means Smith will be relegated to a bench role or forced to go back to reserve-grade. In Round 15 when Walker was initially named to make his return, it was Smith rather than Savala to make way. That's despite Smith being in the side all season long - even when it was Chad Townsend at halfback rather than Savala. The 23-year-old appears to have overtaken Smith in the pecking order, and outplayed him again on Sunday despite the loss. Savala had a try assist and 393 kick metres, while Smith played more of a second-fiddle role. Smith showed back in Round 8 against the Dragons that he has all the potential in the world, but he looks like being the odd man out when Walker returns. Walker will also take the goal-kicking duties from Smith, who might get a reprieve in the form of a bench utility role in Round 19. The good news, the only good news after that debacle, is that Sam Walker will finally return against the Dargons next week. — Bondi Roosters (@bondiroosters) July 6, 2025 The Tigers' win came with Jarome Luai, Api Koroisau and Jahream Bula all missing, and it marked their first victory over the Roosters since 2018. Benji Marshall's side are now just two wins out of the top-eight. "Regardless of the result, just the way the boys turned up today and actually fought, backs against the wall, given no chance, young side, new spine, players out of position," Marshall said. "We showed for most of that game a lot of the things we've been good at for the last four or five weeks. I'm just proud of the boys' effort." We missed our mark at the start, credit to the (the Tigers) how they attacked the game." with AAP

Double Wimbledon blow after injury cruels Aussie

Jordan Thompson may have thought he was a 'bit of a pussy' for withdrawing from the biggest match of his career but his body was so broken it also cost him a chance at a Wimbledon doubles crown. A combination of 'everything' forced the world No.44 to retire during the second set of his clash with fifth seed Taylor Fritz who called the Australian 'valiant' for even getting onto the court for the fourth round clash. Thompson rebuffed the compliment from his opponent and having battled injury leading into and during the tournament, said rest would be crucial to be able to prepare for the US Open. That would likely mean giving up his doubles campaign with French partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert, having lost last year's final with fellow Aussie Max Purcell. 'Everything in my body's already aggravated, and I think I just made it worse,' Thompson said having shaken hands with his opponent down 3-0 and 40-o after losing the opening set. 'It's just my back. And my legs are obviously very tight from compensating. Reaching up to get that lob, I don't think that my back liked it very much, and neither did my legs.' 'Honestly, I feel like a bit of a pussy pulling out. I wouldn't call it valiant.' It was still the best singles return at Wimbledon for Thompson who almost didn't start the event before consecutive five-set matches took their toll. 'I've been sore every day, and was kind of waiting for it to happen,' said the 31-year-old, who missed out on making his maiden grand slam quarter-final. 'I had been thinking of not playing this tournament. So I'm now just taking the positives, it's my best result here, so it's still a great tournament.' He said it would be a 'miracle' if he played out the doubles. 'It's looking that way,' he said. 'I told my partner, if by some miracle, I wake up tomorrow morning and feel like I have been in the previous matches that I'll play, but I'd say a 95 per cent chance of not.' His exit leaves Alex de Minaur to carry Australian hopes as the lone singles player among the original 17-strong contingent and Thompson is confident Australia's top player can topple eight-time champ Novak Djokovic on Centre Court on Monday night. 'Well, Demon's beaten him before and I haven't,' said Thompson. ''If he believes he can win, he can. He's the underdog, so, hopefully, he plays freely and just takes it to him.'
