Expert reveals what the secret meaning of pink flamingos are on cruise ships

Daily Mail13 hours ago
The sight of a pink flamingo inflatable bobbing about in a cruise liner swimming pool might seem innocent enough, but according to one cruise expert - it could be a sign that things could be about to get a little fruity.
Cody Candee, CEO of travel luggage firm Bounce.com, says the popular holiday floaty is used by swingers on some liners to make it clear that there might be a midnight buffet of a different kind on offer.
Candee says that major cruise brands, including Norwegian, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and - avert your eyes now Mickey - Disney, often unwittingly host couples looking to play away while they're on holiday.
The pink flamingo comes in the wake of another visual symbol apparently used by swingers at sea.
He explained: 'Many people are already aware of the upside-down pineapple as a well-known sign for swinging or "wife swapping" when displayed on a cabin door or an item of clothing.
'However, as the symbol becomes more widely recognised, many cruise lines are cracking down on the use of this symbol on cabin doors.
'Other discreet symbols, such as pink flamingos, are gaining popularity as an alternative code for the same lifestyle.'
Adults-only sex cruises specifically designed for the swinging scene have long been a thing.
X-rated jaunts, run by brands such as Temptation Cruises, feature everything from educational workshops to racy stage shows, with secret rooms also on offer.
The latter sees cameras and photos are banned, and staff are stationed at the doors to protect the privacy of those inside.
Discussing a Temptation Cruise in an interview with MailOnline last year, Intimacy coach and hypnotherapist Kate Shelor, who runs racy seminars at sea, lifted the lid on what really goes down on board.
She explained: 'The Temptation Cruises aren't explicitly swingers cruises, but I would say that it's probably 60 to 70 per cent people who are in that lifestyle.'
'The other 30 per cent are not, but they want a fun, sexy, adult atmosphere.'
The age range of attendees generally ranges from mid-twenties to mid-fifties, with the majority being couples, although there's plenty of singles on board too.
'I would say there's people that are there to swing for sure, then there are couples who don't interact with other couples,' Kate said.
'They don't play, they don't swing, but they may want to do something a little wild. Like, there are areas on board where you can be topless and go dancing,' she continued.
'There's a lot of people who may just want to push some personal boundaries and feel a little bit, you know, dangerous and exciting. And then there's also areas where you can be completely nude, but that is in the indoor pool area only and the rules are very strict.'
Kate also shared one of the jaw-dropping sexual experiences she hosts inside the ship's secret playroom - or 'red room' as it's become known as - where she guides up to 60 couples to orgasm together.
'I do a hypnotic sex seminar. It's couples only, but they can bring a third,' she said.
Once inside, the couples (and throuples) find a mattress to sit on together, before being blindfolded.
'Part of the experience is getting in touch with your senses, and it also means that not everybody's being watched by each other,' Kate said.
The professional sexpert said that her seminars sell out 'every time' and that they're now so successful that she's had to add more to her schedule to meet the demand.
'They're asking me to do three instead of two on the next cruise because they're so popular!' she said.

How Sabrina Carpenter shed her Disney image to become world's most controversial star… from sex shock to A-list affairs

Sabrina reveals what is was like duetting with one of her heroes X-PRESSO How Sabrina Carpenter shed her Disney image to become world's most controversial star… from sex shock to A-list affairs Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) On her hit song Espresso, Sabrina Carpenter tells us: 'I'm working late 'cause I'm a singer', and it's clear all those long days have paid off. It might feel like she's an overnight success, but in reality, the 26 year old has spent a decade trying to get to the top. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 18 Sabrina Carpenter has spent a decade trying to get to the top 18 Hit Espresso propelled Sabrina into the spotlight 18 A young Sabrina on Disney Channel As she puts it: 'I've been here 10 years, but also 10 minutes.' It was Espresso – one of the biggest hits of last year, which even Adele has confessed to loving – that finally propelled Sabrina into the spotlight. Taken from her album Short n' Sweet, it was a genuine pop-culture moment, spending a record-breaking 43 consecutive weeks in the UK's Top 5. She was also the first female artist in history to hold the UK No.1 album and Top 3 singles at the same time. And it's not just Adele who is a celebrity fan. She's had the blessing of the world's biggest female pop star, Taylor Swift, after being asked to support her on the 25-date US leg of the Eras tour. Sabrina explained: 'Watching [Taylor] keep their attention as if she's playing in their living room, it was like – and I told her this – 'Your tour enabled me to do mine'.' And she's also won over her hero, Dolly Parton – another 5ft blonde with big hair who takes no nonsense. The pair duetted on one of Sabrina's biggest hits Please Please Please. Dolly revealed: 'Our voices are very similar. I can't tell sometimes which part's her and which part's me. And we look like relatives. She looks like she could be my little sister. We're little women doing big things.' And the big things are only getting bigger. Sabrina's new song Manchild, rumoured to be about her Irish-actor ex, Barry Keoghan, debuted at No.1 on both sides of the Atlantic last month and is taken from her much anticipated new album, Man's Best Friend, due to be released on August 29. Tonight, she performs a second sold-out show to 65,000 fans at British Summertime (BST) Hyde Park, so it's no surprise that rock bible Rolling Stone magazine has dubbed 2025 the 'Summer of Sabrina'. Sabrina Carpenter confirms new summer drink 'hard launching' her deal with Dunkin' – but it's not espresso Of course, she's not without controversy. Many people became aware of her thanks to another BST headliner, Olivia Rodrigo. Olivia's first single, Driver's License, was about an anonymous blonde girl who stole her boyfriend, fellow Disney Channel actor Joshua Bassett. Rumours were rife that the girl in question was Sabrina, and she hit back with her own track, Because I Liked A Boy, singing: 'Now I'm a homewrecker, I'm a s**t, I got death threats filling up semi-trucks.' It was the title track of her 2022 album, Emails I Can't Send, that showcased Sabrina's songwriting talent. She has hinted that the track is about her dad David's infidelity and how it impacted her, with lyrics including: 'Thanks to you, I can't love right/I get nice guys and villainise them/Read their texts like they're havin' sex right now/Scared I'll find out that it's true/And if I do, then I blame you.' She later revealed she played it to her mother before her father heard it. It all goes to show that Sabrina is not scared who she upsets – which is lucky, as the artwork for her latest album – depicting her on her hands and knees with a man grabbing a fistful of her hair – has truly set the cat among the pigeons. 18 Stunning Sabrina is now one of the hottest stars on the planet 18 Sabrina told Rolling Stone: 'I don't want to be pessimistic, but I truly feel like I've never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more, and scrutinised in every capacity' 18 Sabrina with two Grammy Awards It has been criticised on one hand for being regressive and setting women's rights back, while Sabrina's supporters insist her detractors are missing the point – that the image is a proud celebration of her confident sexuality. Meanwhile, Sabrina herself told Rolling Stone: 'I don't want to be pessimistic, but I truly feel like I've never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more, and scrutinised in every capacity. 'I'm not just talking about me. I'm talking about every female artist that is making art right now.' In many ways, it feels like Sabrina is the successor to Madonna, whose provocative songs and performances were intended to shock. Huge stars have leapt to her defence, with 81-year-old singer-songwriter Carly Simon saying: 'She's not doing anything outrageous. It seems tame. "There have been far flashier covers than hers. One of the most startling covers I've ever seen was [The Rolling Stones'] Sticky Fingers. That was out there in terms of sexual attitude. So I don't know why [Sabrina is] getting such flak.' It's no surprise Sabrina wants to shed her 'good girl' image, following in the footsteps of others who started their careers on the Disney Channel. 'She's killed off her innocent image, just as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and all the others had to,' says PR guru Mark Borkowski. 'The young people who grew up watching her have also grown up, and kids today are growing up faster – some would say too fast. So she is giving her audience what they want, or at least what she thinks they want.' Her lyrics are heavy with sexual undertones, and her performance at the BRITs in March drew complaints when it was broadcast before 9pm, leading her to post on Instagram: 'I now know what watershed is!!!!' 18 Sabrina has dated actor Barry Keoghan 18 The singer performs at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2024 18 Taylor Swift and Sabrina take to the stage Meanwhile, on her last tour she recreated a different sexual position each night during her song Juno [named after the movie about teen pregnancy], asking: 'Have you ever tried this one?' before writhing on stage in a barely there outfit. Her antics horrified parents of younger children, but were adored by many of her older fans. Unsurprisingly, the clips of the positions went viral each night. Speaking about the controversy in Rolling Stone, Sabrina said: 'It's always so funny to me when people complain. They're like: 'All she does is sing about this.' "But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly, you love sex. You're obsessed with it. It's in my show. "There's so many more comments than the Juno positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. "I can't control that. If you come to the show, you'll also hear the ballads, you'll hear the more introspective numbers.' From an early age, Sabrina knew she wanted to be a star, even though she came from a regular family, hailing from a distinctly unstarry place called Quakertown in Pennsylvania. She's the youngest of four girls, and her mother Elizabeth works as a chiropractor, while her father David works for an X-ray servicing company. 18 Sabrina and Paul Simon perform 'Homeward Bound', February 2025 18 The pop star on stage at The Brits 18 Sabrina with her family She started singing on her own YouTube channel at the age of nine. Her dad made a little studio under the stairs and learned how to create and edit videos for her. She insisted on being homeschooled, so that she could spend her time auditioning and signed to Disney's Hollywood Records when she was 12. A year later, her big break came when she landed a role in Disney show Girl Meets World. Her mum moved to Los Angeles with Sabrina, while her dad stayed at home with her sisters. She worked throughout her teens, bringing out four albums and starring in a variety of teen films, but never quite made it to the next level. But then in 2022, after the pandemic and with a new record label, she released Emails I Can't Send, her breakthrough genre-bending album. For her first adult project she worked with her sister Sarah, who provides her creative influence, along with fellow writer Amy Allen, and it was co-produced with Taylor Swift's pal Jack Antonoff. The abum is filled with songs about love, heartbreak and ambition, and she says that she was an 'emotional wreck' when she wrote it. But several of the songs brought a degree of notoriety. It seemed like each song had a story to go with it. The video for Please Please Please co-starred her then-boyfriend and Oscar-nominated star of Saltburn, Barry Keoghan – the pair split in December last year, citing their busy schedules as the reason. The track, which became one of her biggest hits, references an actor boyfriend and tells the story of someone who knows they are in the wrong relationship. 'This just really hits for the girls that have every right to go back to someone who isn't good for them and know that those mistakes are absolutely human to make – and repeatedly,' she told Time magazine last year. 'The amount of times that we've all been with people we shouldn't be. . .' 'I see her as a featherweight genius,' says Mark Borkowski, who admits he questions her longevity. 'Like a lot of pop stars now, she has a really profound digital social literacy. She's brilliant at creating the type of content that gets shared and becomes clickbait. "She's found a way of getting the fame machine to work for her – with all the algorithms and the viral clips. She's the perfect pop star for the algorithm age,' he adds. Before her show tonight, she will no doubt have taken an icy plunge bath, after becoming obsessed with cold water therapy. 'I really got introduced to this s**t by boys that I've dated that I made fun of for doing it,' she has said. 'I would always make fun of it, being like: 'Oh, the cold shower isn't going to fix your mental health. You need to actually maybe see a therapist.' "But then I tried it, and I was like: 'You know what? There's a little something to it.' Mentally, it's not getting my life together, but it's definitely helping my body heal, and it's helping me have a little bit more clarity and energy. "Unfortunately, it's a cult, but I'm here for it.' Despite the doubters, it feels like no one is going to pour cold water on Sabrina's career any time soon. 'Sabrina Carpenter is such a unique songwriting talent that I don't think the world has even caught up with it yet,' says songwriter Alexis Strum, who has penned songs for artists including Kylie Minogue. 'I think she is severely underestimated, and is actually really witty and makes brave choices with her top lines. 'It's no coincidence that she's worked with Dolly Parton and, in years to come, she may have her own 'Sabrinawood', because she has such a knack for generalising her life experience into song. It's a gift that both Adele has and Amy Winehouse had in spades – mining your relationships to create relatable lyrics that the world will sing back to you for decades to come. 'It has taken some time to get to the top, but Sabrina never doubted it would happen.' Sabrina told Rolling Stone: 'I've always had a really weird relationship with the universe and I always felt like it was going to work out. "I try not to get sad about the fact that nothing lasts forever but, genuinely, it's such a beautiful time now. 'I want to soak it up and keep making things while I'm feeling this way.' Hailey Bieber looks downcast out with gal pal as Justin hits the gym after they presented united front at concert

As speculation of relationship problems continued to swirl around them, Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber were seen on separate outings with their friends this Wednesday. Over the past few months, Justin has raised eyebrows with his hollow-eyed appearance and his social media posts. Fans have been harboring mounting concerns over Justin's health, and there have also been rumors of marital strife with Hailey. This past weekend, the pair were seen presenting a united front at a Los Angeles concert, with a fan footage showing them cuddling up to one another. However Hailey looked downcast Wednesday as she headed to Sushi Park, an exclusive West Hollywood restaurant she frequents with Justin and her friends. She was accompanied by Leonardo DiCaprio's ex-girlfriend Camila Morrone, a model whose mother dated Al Pacino for several years. The 28-year-old niece of Alec Baldwin opted for a black ensemble of a sheer lace top, elegant slacks and a leather jacket, plus shades. Justin meanwhile uploaded an Instagram photo that day of himself shirtless at the gym, working out with his rapper friend Gunna. The 31-year-old pop hitmaker also uploaded two closer-up shots that showed him weightlifting, indicating his commitment to staying fit. That day, Sean 'Diddy' Combs was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion - after the court heard harrowing testimony about alleged sexual abuse, forced drug binges and so-called 'freak offs.' However the jury, which deliberated for three days, found Diddy guilty on two lesser counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution. As Diddy strenuously disputed the allegations against him, there were widespread fears among fans that Justin may have been sexually abused by Diddy during his early years as a child pop star. Last year, a video of the pair resurfaced which some fans labeled as 'disturbing' in which Diddy and Justin - who was a minor at the time - discussed spending time with one another for '48 hours.' The pair also worked together on an album. However, the troubled singer released a statement a few days after the trial began in May, denying that Diddy had ever preyed on him. 'Although Justin is not among Sean Combs' victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve,' his spokesperson said in a statement to TMZ. Sources also informed TMZ on Thursday that the Coming Home rapper never abused Justin in any way. In regards to the videos of Diddy and Justin together, the insiders insisted that the interactions were simply 'performative' - and explained Bieber was closer to the rapper's sons than to Sean. Not long after Diddy was arrested ahead of the trial in which he was acquitted of most charges, a source opened up to about Justin's reaction to the news. 'Bieber is so disturbed by the Diddy news and is unwilling to process it or discuss it so he has shut off.' The insider added, 'So many people who helped to make him who he is were very close to Diddy and it has completely thrown him. Justin hasn't been responding on this since the home raids. He's not going to.' According to the source, the singer also regretted working with Combs on the rapper's 2023 album titled The Love Album: Off the Grid. 'He had a long break from Diddy when he believes most of this took place and he had distanced himself from him.' They continued, 'He was featured on Diddy's most recent album, and had he known any of this, there is no way he would have done it.' A past video also resurfaced last year as Diddy and Bieber documented spending '48 hours' together. In the clip, the pair could be seen standing next to each other and Diddy stated, 'He's having 48 hours with Diddy, where we hanging out and what we're doing we can't really disclose. But it's definitely a 15-year-old's dream.' He added: 'I have been given custody of him. He's signed to Usher and I had legal guardianship of Usher when he did his first album. 'I don't have legal guardianship of him [Bieber] but for the next 48 hours he's with me and we're gonna go full crazy.' The Baby hitmaker could be seen sporting a purple button up as well as a black cap as he stood next to Diddy. During the clip, Justin offered simple responses to Diddy - such as saying 'yeah' and also 'full crazy.' At the time, social media users had jumped to X to share their thoughts on the resurfaced reel which came to light the same week Diddy had been arrested following a sex trafficking probe. One penned, 'These videos NEED to resurface to expose the disturbing behavior of P Diddy around a 15-year-old Justin Bieber. 'This is how a creepy freak behaves. DISTURBING. We should hold people accountable, no matter their status or fame!!!' they added. Another wrote, 'This video of P Diddy & Justin Bieber will forever be creepy,' while one added, 'Diddy's weird obsession with a young Justin Bieber was always disturbing. Hollywood needs to stop excusing these twisted power dynamics.' An X user shared, 'A fully grown DIDDY with 15 year old Justin Bieber talking about partying with him. Look how uncomfortable Justin Bieber is.' In March of last year, another clip had resurfaced shortly after the disgraced rapper's homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided. The video showed Diddy asking Justin - who was 16 at the time - why he hadn't spoken to him that much. 'What's up man, you good? Selling out arenas and everything? Starting to act different, huh? You haven't been calling me and hanging out the way we used to hang out.' Bieber - who seemingly appeared nervous - replied with, 'I mean you tried to get in contact with me throughout all my... and what not... but you never got my number. I'm going to tell you my number.' The pair have been spotted hanging out on more than one occasion in the past, such as at a bash in Atlanta back in 2014. They were also seen at a Grammys after party in 2016 and on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2011. Fans also claimed last year that Justin's 2021 track titled Lonely possibly hinted at what some fans believed happened between him and Diddy when he was a minor. Some of the lyrics include: 'And everybody saw me sick/And it felt like no one gave a s**t/ They criticized the things I did as an idiot kid. 'What if you had it all/ And it felt like nobody to call? Maybe then you'd know me/'Cause I've had everything/ But no one's listening/ And that's just lonely. I'm so lonely. Lonely.' One fan had written, 'No one protected him. Not even his family. I absolutely adore this song, but the words have always stood out to me. I hope he can heal with time.'

Parents spark fury as they take their baby to a tattoo salon – but it's the kid's name that's got everyone talking

A COUPLE have come under fire after taking their baby to a tattoo salon - however, it's the little boy's name that's got everyone talking. Mum and TikToker Morgan Presley, who welcomed the baby in May, explained that she simply didn't ''trust people'' enough to get a babysitter. 2 As the two parents were desperate to have their facial piercings changed, they decided to take their baby son to the tattoo salon with them. In the now-viral video, Morgan explained that her son had reached the ''grabby'' stage and was constantly pulling her eyebrow piercings. ''My luck, he would rip them out,'' she said. Knowing she would face backlash, the mum-of-one also said: ''To the people who will say, 'Just get a babysitter ' - I don't trust people.'' While the couple were getting their piercings changed to more fitting ones, their son was chilling and peacefully sleeping in the background. However, while the pair were chuffed with their new facial piercings, Morgan and her partner came under fire for taking the little one along to the tattoo salon. One person wondered: ''not hating at all, but in the uk tattoo and piercing shops are 18+, surprised they let your baby in there, is that normal in all parts of usa?'' Another was baffled, writing: ''You don't trust people but you post him online?'' A third critic chimed in: ''Once again people proving they shouldn't be parents.'' But it's not just the day-out at the tattoo salon that sparked a fierce debate - Morgan and her husband were also slammed for naming their baby ''Pony''. Parents warned 3 common summer foods are dangerous to toddlers - and eating a specific fruit can cause nasty sunburn The parents revealed the son's name earlier this year in a video that's since gone viral, admitting that finding a boy that ''excited'' them was ''so hard''. ''Instead of going to baby name lists, we went to our record collection trying to look for a record that kind of spoke to us the most, that had sentimental meaning. ''And that's how we ended up landing on Pony Ramone Presley.'' In the clip, Morgan added that Presley was not his last name - and was intended for ''safety'' reasons. ''On our first date, we danced to this record by Orville Peck which is called Pony.'' Meanwhile, the middle name was inspired by The Ramones - a band the two were ''heavily, heavily listening to'' during the pregnancy journey. 'We are naming future adults not just babies' The boy's name, as adorable as it may be, has not proven to be a major hit amongst concerned social media users, who slammed the parents. One said: ''Giving him a fake last name from his safety doesn't feel very useful lmao. How many Pony Ramones are there?'' Another wrote: ''I've said it once I've said it again we are naming future adults not just babies.''
