"Good To See Competitive...": England Coach's Intriguing Take On Shubman Gill-Zak Crawley Exchange
"Cricket has got a bit more friendly over the past few years because the players are together in franchise tournaments all over the world. Sometimes it's good to create something in the game.
"Both teams are passionate about playing the game and it is understandable that at times it gets to a boiling point," he said.
"There will be things that happen between the two teams but both teams know there's a line you can't cross but it's not really been troubled too much," he added.
Going into the fifth and final day, the third Test is interestingly poised with India needing 135 more runs in their chase of 193, while England require six wickets.
Chasing the target, India lost four wickets in the last hour for just 58 runs.
"The last hour of viewing, our guys running in really well, there was an edge out there and it creates a great spectacle," said Trescothick.
"We were fairly relaxed in the dressing room, controlling the emotions of what's going on. We all enjoy every wicket but we are still very controlled in what we are trying to do," added the former England opener.
Trescothink said the first hour of the fifth day will decide the fate of the Test.
"It will revolve around the first hour of the day and how positive India can be or how dominant we can be and how many wickets we can get," he said.

Harbhajan Makes Bold Call For 4th Test: 'Drop Nitish And Bring Kuldeep Directly'
Last Updated: Harbhajan Singh backs Kuldeep Yadav for India's XI in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Old Trafford, suggesting Nitish Kumar Reddy be dropped for Kuldeep. India's legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has supported the inclusion of left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Old Trafford, Manchester. Harbhajan believes Kuldeep can be the mystery bowler for Shubman Gill's side, providing crucial breakthroughs. 'I had said before the Lord's Test and also for the Birmingham Test that Kuldeep should play. Because the kind of free flowing batting these Englishmen do, it is not that easy to him. If such a spinner spins it both sides, then he can become a mystery bowler and take wickets at crucial times," Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying to Sports Tak. 'In Test cricket, it is not just that they are waiting for the new ball. Let a few overs be bowled. If nothing much is happening, then Kuldeep Yadav can take wickets," he added. Which Player Can Be Dropped For 4th Test? Asked about which player would make way for Kuldeep in the playing XI, Harbhajan named pace-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. He also expressed that young top-order batsman Sai Sudharsan was unfairly dropped after his Test debut at Edgbaston. 'If it was my team, I would drop Nitish and bring Kuldeep directly in the team. Whereas if there was a change in the top order, I would back Sai Sudarshan a little more. I would not have sidelined him after the first match. I think he is very capable, he is a very good player," Harbhajan said. Reddy's performance in the Test series so far has been mixed. He scored two single-digit figures in the Edgbaston Test and remained wicketless. In the Lord's Test, he provided two crucial breakthroughs in his first over, took a wicket in the second innings but was unimpressive with the bat, scoring 30 in the first innings and 13 in the run chase. As for the venueof the fourth Test, it is at Manchester, where India is yet to win a Test match and are playing at the venue after a gap of 11 years. Additionally, Indian bowlers have not managed to take all 20 wickets in a single Test at Old Trafford. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. India vs England: After Pant, another massive injury blow to India as pacer likely ruled out of 4th Test
Trouble mounts for Team India as yet another injury has been reported from the squad. Team India is already facing uncertainty around Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. read more Team India has been hit hard by injuries on the ongoing England tour, with troubles compounding. After Rishabh Pant's finger injury in the 3rd Test at Lord's, another injury has been reported in the Indian squad. This time, a bowler - not Jasprit Bumrah - is injured. However, uncertainty about Bumrah's status continues. Arshdeep Singh, who was awaiting his chance in the tour, has incurred a cut on his bowling hand and will likely be ruled out for the 4th Test against England. The 26-year-old sustained the injury during a training session on Thursday. Arshdeep was reportedly hit by the ball while trying to stop a powerful strike by Sai Sudarshan on his follow-through. The player's hand has been stitched, and he's unlikely to be fit to play. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'He has stitches on his hand and is likely won't be available for the fourth Test match, the Indian team will see if he is ready for the fifth Test or not,' as per The Indian Express. Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty about Akash Deep's availability due to a groin issue. Akash Deep didn't bowl in a nets session held by the Indian team before heading to Manchester. Also Read | If Rishabh Pant plays as specialist batter, then who will keep wickets for India in the 4th Test? India's assistant coach confirms Arshdeep's injury Arshdeep Singh was not given a chance in the series, but he was in the reckoning to feature in the playing XI of the 4th Test. India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said: 'Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball, and he tried to stop it, and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor, and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches, it's going to be important to our planning for the next few days.' Also Read | Why dilly-dallying around Jasprit Bumrah paints a wrong picture of Team India and the pacer Must-win game for Team India After ending the Lord's Test on a losing note, Team India trails 1-2 in the series. The 4th Test, which will be the penultimate of the series, can bring India back on track and could also hand the hosts an unassailable lead. Hence, it is a must-win game for the visitors, and the need of the hour is for the management to pick the strongest XI. It has been an enthralling affair so far, and one could assert that had India capitalised on some massive moments, then the score line could have hinted at an advantage towards India. Nonetheless, the team still carries the ability to bounce back and will have to come out all guns blazing at Old Trafford on July 23.

Arshdeep Singh likely to be ruled out of fourth Test between India and England in Manchester
Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm swing bowler, is likely to be ruled out of the fourth Test between India and England. The 26-year old had suffered a cut on his bowling hand during a training nets session on Thursday while stopping a ball hit by Sai Sudharsan on his follow-through. The hand was stitched up and it's now unlikely he will be fit to play. The suspense still remains on Akash Deep's availability as he is struggling with a groin niggle. Akash Deep didn't bowl in a nets session organised by the Indian team before leaving for Manchester. 'He has stitches on his hand and is likely won't be available for the fourth Test match, the Indian team will see if he is ready for the fifth Test or not,' a source informed The Indian Express. Arshdeep hasn't been entrusted with a spot yet in Tests but if the team management chooses to rest one of the pacers, he was in the running to make his debut. India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said: 'Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball and he tried to stop it and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches it's going to be important to our planning for the next few days.' On Day 4 of the third Test at Lord's, in the 28th over of the England innings, Akash Deep left for the dressing room after feeling discomfort. With the team physio by his side, the pacer held his waist and grimaced. The 28-year-old has had a history of injuries that sidelined him in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024 and also in the 2025 IPL season. After being treated in the dressing room, the pacer returned to the field but didn't bowl that day. The tourists are already faced with concerns over the injury to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. He was struck on the index finger of his left hand as he attempted to collect a Jasprit Bumrah delivery that flew down the leg side during England's first innings on Day 1 of the Lord's Test. Pant was in visible pain and did not keep wickets for the rest of the Test. I The Indian team will play its fourth Test match in Manchester which is scheduled to kick off from July 23.
