Chinese company Netease is making an AAA action-adventure game called 'Blood Message'
NetEase, the Chinese video game company that published Marvel Rivals and Bungie's Destiny: Rising , has announced its first single-player AAA game. It's a story-driven third-person action-adventure game called Blood Message , and as Polygon notes, it's in the vein of Uncharted and Assassin's Creed. The story is set in the final years of the Tang Dynasty, which ruled imperial China from 618 to 907. In Blood Message , players take control of a nameless messenger and his son "to deliver a message that holds the fate of their war-torn homeland."
Players will have to journey through desolate deserts and the vast wilderness of East and Central Asia. The trailer shows the messenger and his son fighting enemies in the desert, surviving avalanches, working with mysterious characters and discovering ancient artifacts. It also shows the game's cinematic cutscenes, stealth and survival mechanics, as well as the landscapes players can expect to see.
"We are ushering players into a new generation of high adventure with Blood Message," said Zhipeng Hu, the Lead Producer and NetEase Executive Vice President. "As our first completely single-player focused experience from NetEase Games, after two decades of deep dedication to the gaming industry, we are prepared to deliver a truly epic and cinematic experience for players around the world."
NetEase has yet to announce a release date, but Blood Message will be available for consoles and the PC. The game's announcement shows that Chinese developers are increasingly making more inroads into the AAA space. Black Myth: Wukong , which is widely considered as the first AAA game from China, was originally released last year and will be available on the Xbox in August.

In New York, this Chinese restaurant is an icon. In Miami, it's closing after a year
Another upscale restaurant is closing in Miami, this time after only a year. RedFarm, the Chinese restaurant from New York famous for its dim sum and Peking duck, announced that it will be shutting down after service this Sunday. It opened in the former site of Mr. Moe's in Coconut Grove at 3131 Commodore Plaza in February of 2024. The New York and Austin, Texas, RedFarm locations will remain open. Created by restaurateur Ed Schoenfeld with partners Jeffrey Chodorow, his son Zach Chodorow and Alex Pirez, the restaurant announced its plans on Instagram in a tersely worded statement with none of the usual effusive thanks or flourishes. 'Thank you to all of our guests who joined us in Miami,' the post read. 'We wanted to let you know that we will be closing our Coconut Grove location at the end of service this Sunday, June 29.' The post went on to say that the Chodorows plan to reopen RedFarm in South Florida in the future and that signature dishes, such as Ed's pastrami egg rolls and the colorful Pac Man shrimp dumplings will return. At the moment, no new site has been announced. The first RedFarm opened in New York's West Village in 2011. Miami native Jeffrey Chodorow, best known here for opening the famous China Grill in Miami Beach in the mid 1990s, said in 2024 that opening in South Florida had always been in the back of his mind. 'As a Miami native and resident, I always knew we would bring RedFarm here,' he said. 'Not only because I'm always craving RedFarm's dishes, but many of our New York customers spend a lot of time here, or have moved here, and our Miami friends kept asking me when we were going to open here.' The closing comes at a time of mild upheaval in the Coconut Grove culinary scene. At the end of May, the Michelin-recommended Portuguese restaurant Sereia closed after a only year. The Italian restaurant Like Mike, which opened in 2022 and was located at 3433 Main Highway, quietly closed as well and is being taken over by the Italian seafood spot Sapore de Mare, its Grove neighbor. Also gone is Chef Michael Schwartz's Harry's Pizzeria at 2996 McFarlane Road. The brand also quietly closed its South Beach location.

‘Marathon' NDA Alpha Leaks Show Visual Improvements, Detail New Additions
Marathon I'm honestly a little surprised that we haven't seen more leaks out of the NDA-ed Marathon Alpha that's been running, but that's what the threat of legal action will do. It also signifies that maybe that's what Bungie should have done with the last Alpha, as originally planned, as we may have avoided that whole negative news cycle. This info is pulled from Twitter user @itsrocksiza, who says they have not signed an NDA themselves, but has access to information and (now deleted) images all the same somehow (a friend?). He says Bungie contacted him to delete the images, and while not legally required to do so, he did it to be nice. I did save them, but I'm not going to actually post them here for a similar reason. But I'll talk about what was shown. Marathon As I've always said, leaks aren't leaks when they're positive! I mean, not really, and you all should not break your NDAs, but here we are, and all of this sounds like improvements from the last public Alpha, and relatively quick changes being made/tested. This is obviously not everything. Bungie said there will be further tests before release, though what the mix of NDA-ed and invite-only and eventually public tests will be is not confirmed. Bungie has not given a new Marathon release date, but says it will this fall. It's likely to be before the end of the 2025 fiscal year which ends in March. We'll see just how many changes and additions Marathon can get before that release, and if they might change its fortunes.
