Scottish trio called up to Lions squad ahead of Wallabies series
The Lions' squad has swelled to 44 players with the latest additions, who are being brought in to provide cover that will prevent key Test personnel from backing up in next Tuesday's match against a First Nations & Pasifika XV.
The eighth match on tour takes place before the second Test against the Wallabies in Melbourne on July 26.
Prop Sutherland, hooker Ewan Ashman and wing Darcy Graham have all been summoned from Scotland's tour of New Zealand.
Graham, who was sent off against Fiji at the weekend, will link up with the Lions in Brisbane on Monday, while Sutherland and Ashman will arrive in Melbourne on Sunday, with Scotland facing Samoa in Auckland the previous day.
Sutherland made two Test appearances for the Lions in South Africa four years ago.
Head coach Andy Farrell named a 38-man squad in May but since arriving in Australia full-back Jamie Osborne, hooker Jamie George and prop Tom Clarkson have been added.

US men to host friendlies against Australia and Ecuador in October international window
The US men's national team will play friendlies against Ecuador and Australia in the October Fifa international window, the federation announced on Monday. The games will pit the US against two teams that have already sealed their spots in the 2026 World Cup in one of the team's last gatherings before the start of the tournament next summer. The US will host Ecuador first on 10 October at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, with kickoff set for 8.30pm ET. This will be the US men's 16th all-time meeting against Ecuador, with the last meeting coming in 2019. In that match, Gyasi Zardes scored a late winner in a 1-0 victory for the US. Ecuador has been one of the best teams in South America this World Cup cycle, now sitting second in Conmebol qualifying. Each of Ecuador's last three games have been 0-0 draws (against Chile, Brazil, and Peru). Australia will be the United States' opponent in the second match of the window, due to take place in Commerce City, Colorado at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on 14 October at 9pm ET. The meeting will be the United States' fourth all-time meeting against the Socceroos, with the previous one coming back in 2010 before that year's World Cup in South Africa. The US won that game 3-1, with Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez scoring for the Americans, and Tim Cahill scoring for Australia. The World Cup qualifying campaign has been a tricky one for Australia, but it was rewarded with an automatic bid to the World Cup last month since the appointment of Tony Popovic as head coach. The Socceroos have reeled off five wins and three draws since he was appointed, culminating in last month's 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia. The United States will aim use the window to further solidify their squad under head coach Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine brought a mostly second-choice roster to this summer's Gold Cup, where the Americans beat weaker opposition all the way to the final, where they were outclassed in a 2-1 loss to regional rivals Mexico. It is thought that Pochettino will use the next two international windows to try to combine the team's bright spots from the summer like Diego Luna and Malik Tillman with some of the first-choice players who sat out the Gold Cup and pre-tournament friendlies – namely Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Antonee Robinson, Tim Weah and others.

Jack van Poortvliet: Patient England earned their reward
The Leicester Tigers scrum-half came off the bench to score a 79th-minute try at the Estadio San Juan Bicentenario to clinch a 22-17 win over Los Pumas. It came after a second half that had been played almost exclusively in Argentinian territory, with Van Poortvliet explaining how the team did not panic, even as they let chance after chance go begging. In the end though, a muscular break from Guy Pepper, in only his second cap, ended with Van Poortvliet collecting an offloading and racing over for the match-winner. He said: 'There was a lot of frustration that we couldn't score. I think the whole 25 minutes I was on it was pretty much in their half. And we were just not quite getting there. We'd have a half break and not be able to finish it off. We knew we were doing the right things but we just couldn't get that last bit. 'We just said, 'be patient, it'll come. Keep doing the basics, keep getting the ruck right, because they kept competing at the ruck; keep getting the edge right and things like that to try and expose them'. We got there eventually. We knew if we kept banging the door we'd get a chance and luckily we had one in the end.' It completes an impressive fortnight in Argentina for England, having won the first Test in La Plata 35-12 last Saturday. All that was achieved without 13 players away on Lions duty, while Jamie George was a late withdrawal for this encounter after he was called up as a replacement for Luke Cowan-Dickie, with the England co-captain watching from the stands. For Van Poortvliet, who made his England debut on a summer tour of Australia three years ago, the way this inexperienced team has stepped up can only bode well for the future. He added: 'I love touring with England. I think probably the best experience before this tour is probably my first tour in the Australia tour I had with England. 'To come here and do that and to have a moment like that at the end was really special. I've loved these last three weeks. They've been absolutely brilliant. To cap it off with another win was amazing. 'I just think it shows the talent and depth that there is in this country. You've seen the quality of the under-20s teams there's been in the last few years. They're now all coming through. Tours like these are brilliant for people to take their opportunity and keep piling on pressure. 'It's amazing to see the boys away with Lions doing so well, but they go away and it's your opportunity to try and put your hand up. So many people have done that. It only increases competition for when everyone's back in the autumn. It shows what a good place English rugby is in at the minute. 'Coming off the back of a strong end to the Six Nations and then to build to this with a new group and to keep pushing forward is promising. It shows the depth we have in this country. 'We think we've got so much further to go. We're excited where we are right now, but we can take it so much further and we know that as a group. We're excited to try and do that.' Royal caught napping at Wimbledon days after major celeb 'dozes off' on centre court
The Royal was pictured falling asleep just days after another famous face was snapped having a nap in the stands Primarily reserved for members of the British Royal Family, foreign royals, heads of state, celebrities, and former champions, all eyes are often on the Royal Box at Wimbledon and all movements are caught on camera. However, one particular Royal was spotted nodding off during the Men's singles final on Sunday, July 13. Lord Frederick Windsor attended the Men's Singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday, July 13 with wife, Sophie Winkleman. The couple were seated in some of the best spots on centre court. Lord Frederick is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and is 54th in line to the British throne. His father, Prince Michael of Kent, is a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple were seen enjoying the sporting action but seemingly forgot that all actions were being captured on camera, reports the Express. Pictures from the event showed the Royal with his eyes closed, propping up his head with one arm, appearing to doze off multiple times. A segment broadcast showed Hugh in the Royal Box, donning shaded sunglasses with his head dipped slightly forward.
