ACE Market-bound ICT Zone Asia aims to raise RM26.6mil from IPO
The group, which is scheduled for the listing transfer on June 3, 2025, is making a public issue of 133 million new shares priced at 20 sen apiece.
Group managing director and chief executive officer Tommy Lim Kok Kwang said the ACE Market listing will enable ICT Zone Asia to grow its business organically through funding access from Malaysia's capital market and enhance its ability to meet the growing demands of the stakeholders, supported by increased visibility in the broader capital market.
"Of the total RM26.6 million in proceeds raised, RM21 million or close to 80 per cent has been earmarked for the expansion of our technology financing business.
"RM1.5 million will be allocated to sales and marketing efforts, and the remaining balance will be utilised to cover listing-related expenses associated with the successful transfer to the ACE Market,' he said in during the ICT Zone Asia prospectus launch here today. - Bernama

Property market to stay subdued in H2, says Paramount chief
KUALA LUMPUR: Paramount Corporation Bhd expects subdued property market conditions to persist in the second half of the year, even as Bank Negara Malaysia cut the overnight policy rate to 2.75 per cent in July. Its group chief executive officer, Jeffrey Chew, said that while the rate cut offers some relief, it is unlikely to significantly boost homebuying sentiment in the short term. "A 25-basis-point cut helps both in terms of our borrowing cost and consumer affordability but it's not enough to drive major changes in buying behaviour," he said at Paramount's investor and media briefing today. Chew said a single rate cut is unlikely to have a major impact on the market, but if there are two more reductions or a larger 50-basis-point cut, it could potentially act as a meaningful catalyst for the property sector. "There are several challenges at play with the fuel subsidy, tariffs, and Sales and Services Tax implementation, which are making buyers more wary. "While we do not foresee a major downturn, we also do not see strong catalysts emerging in the second half," he said. Chew said that for 2025, the developer had expected some growth, but uncertainties, particularly regarding potential actions by the US president, may prompt a revision of its sales targets. As of July, Paramount had achieved around RM600 million in property sales, slightly more than halfway towards its RM1.5 billion target for the year. A key contributor to the shortfall is a planned RM170 million disposal of a commercial tower, which Chew said has yet to materialise due to weak investor appetite in the commercial property market. "We are focusing more on getting tenants in instead of trying to sell," he added. Chew said that property will remain the cornerstone of Paramount's business, just as it has been for the past fifty years. He added that over the next 10 to 20 years, the company continues to see solid growth prospects in the sector and targets property to account for around 70 per cent of its total business, both in Malaysia and abroad.

High Court upholds RM780,000 awarded to sacked exec
The High Court in George Town, Penang, upheld an earlier decision by the Industrial Court. GEORGE TOWN : The High Court here has upheld an Industrial Court's decision awarding nearly RM800,000 in back wages and compensation to a senior employee of a semiconductor firm who was wrongfully dismissed in 2018. The High Court's decision will see Kon Siang Boon, a former global account manager at Molex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, retaining the RM789,333.58 awarded to him by the Industrial Court last year. The High Court also ordered the company to pay RM7,500 in costs. Justice Anand Ponnudurai, in his ruling today, said there was no error of law in the Industrial Court's findings, and that the court had rightfully preferred Kon's version of events over the company's, based on the credibility of witnesses. Kon, who had been attached with the company for nearly 30 years, was accused of making fraudulent claims while on a business trip, which Molex claimed breached company policy, and was subsequently sacked in 2018 after a domestic inquiry. The Industrial Court, however, found the dismissal unjustified and procedurally flawed. At the time of his dismissal, he was earning over RM21,000 a month, with bonuses and allowances. According to the facts of the case, from 2016 to November 2017, Kon submitted meal and transport claims under the prevailing company travel policy, which were all approved by his superiors. Molex revised this policy on Nov 1, 2017, to bar meal claims. However, the Industrial Court found that this revised policy had not been clearly communicated to Kon. The court accepted Kon's testimony that he only became aware of the new rules in December 2017 and had stopped making such claims after that. In delivering his ruling, Anand said the Industrial Court's decision was reasonable and backed by detailed analysis.
