The Legacy joins the league next season along with an expansion club in Denver, bringing the league to 16 teams.
'I want to grow by developing my overall game as a player and by learning how to adapt again into a new city, new team, and everything, and I'm really excited to do that here in Boston,' Karich said in a statement.
Karich played two years at Santa Clara before turning professional and was the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. She has also represented the U.S. national team at the youth levels.
"Annie is a midfielder that brings a unique blend of technical quality and tactical awareness. In her time at SC Freiburg, she has also proved her competitiveness and maturity on the field," Boston general manager Domènec Guasch said. 'Annie has the potential to make a real impact in our team.'

LeBron James reportedly expected to remain with Lakers
Despite an offseason of rumors and speculation, LeBron James is expected to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025-26 season, The Athletic reported Wednesday. The Lakers and James have not engaged in talks about a trade or buyout, and the NBA's all-time leading scorer is expected to report to camp with the Lakers this fall, per the report. There haven't been any signs, either, that James wants out. James picked up his $52.6 million option last month to return for an eighth season with the Lakers. He will be returning to a team this time around on which, for the first time in his career, he is the second option. Luka Dončić, acquired in a stunning trade from the Dallas Mavericks in February, is expected to be the centerpiece for Los Angeles in the upcoming season. Apparently fueling the trade or buyout rumors is a statement made by James' longtime agent, Rich Paul, last month that included this line, 'We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career.' Trading James, given his salary, would be difficult since NBA trades must be for players with contracts of similar value due to the salary cap. The Lakers, according to The Athletic, also are reluctant to take on a player earning in the $50 million range if he has additional years on the contract. The Lakers will be free of James' $52.6 million once his contract expires at the end of the upcoming season. James, 40, is entering his record-setting 23rd NBA season. He has played in 1,562 regular-season games and is 50 shy of breaking Hall of Fame member Robert Parish's NBA record. James averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 70 games in 2024-25 to rank in the top 22 in each category. He is a 21-time All-Star, four-time league MVP and four-time NBA champion. He has scored a record 42,184 regular-season points, and 50,473 in the regular season and playoffs combined. James entered the NBA as an 18-year-old after being selected No. 1 in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He turns 41 in December.

Liverpool ready to step up interest in Ekitiké – Eintracht to lower asking price?
According to multiple reports, Liverpool are preparing to step up their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitiké. Sky Germany reports that the Reds are willing to outbid Newcastle's initial offer of €80 million, which was rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt, who are demanding €100 million for the Frenchman. Kicker, meanwhile, suggests that Frankfurt may be open to some negotiation and that a deal could be struck for somewhere between €90 million and €95 million. A move to Saudi side Al Hilal is said to be out of the question, as the player wants to remain in Europe. Eintracht would have to pay 20 percent of the transfer fee to Paris Saint-Germain, as the French champions secured a sell-on clause when they sold Ekitiké for €16 million last summer. Nevertheless, Eintracht can obviously look forward to a handsome profit.

England vs Sweden Euro 2025 quarter-final odds, prediction: Can Lionesses repeat 2022?
The European Championships quarter-final clash between England and Sweden is a repeat of the 2022 semi-final in the same competition, a game England won 4-0 en route to lifting the trophy. The English will hope it's a similar story here after a mixed bag at the Euros thus far. Manager Sarina Wiegman entered the tournament with a remarkable Euros record of 12 wins out of 12 but all that would change in England's opening game when they lost 2-1 to an excellent France side. It seems to have been the wake-up call the holders needed and, in their two group games since, England have scored 10 goals and conceded just once. They will also take heart from the fact that it often seems those teams that emerge triumphant at tournaments open with a disappointing result. Advertisement The 4-0 win over the Netherlands followed by the 6-1 thumping of Wales ensured England finished runners-up in the group and were, oddly enough, rewarded with perhaps an easier route to the final than if they'd topped the group. Spain, France and Germany are all on the other half of the draw while the winner of this quarter-final takes on Italy, which advanced past Norway in a meeting of tournament long shots. Sweden are not to be underestimated, though, having won all three of their group stage matches. The last of those, a 4-1 drubbing of Germany, was a statement victory that made abundantly clear the Swedes are not in Switzerland simply to make up the numbers. All the talk before the tournament was about Wiegman's flawless record and it seemed almost inevitable that the French would spring a shock. There was a feeling that the England boss got the big decisions wrong in that opener but she has more than steadied the ship and got things spot on tactically for the rest of the group stage, the reward a clash against a team England have met regularly in recent years. England's starters were the same for their last two matches and likely it will be the same team again. Lauren James out wide and Ella Toone retaining her place after having been overlooked for the opener. Odds via Betfair Time: Thursday, 8 p.m. BST (3 p.m. ET) Venue: Stadion Letzigrund, Zurich England 2, Sweden 1 The consensus is that England might have gotten lucky by finishing second in the group and the Swedes will undoubtedly look to punish any hubris. The teams have played twice since the last Euros and both matches ended in draws (1-1 and 0-0) so this one could go the distance. England and their manager have the experience of going all the way, though, and that can make all the difference in tournament football so the Lionesses could just edge it.
