Matthew McConaughey hailed a 'southern gent' after Kate Middleton gesture

Magic Mike and Dallas Buyers Club star Matthew McConaughey, 55, was pictured among the VIPs in the Royal Box at Wimbledon and one fan said the move star has clearly been 'raised right' after watching him on the telly
Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey's gesture to Princess Kate and her husband Prince William as they arrived in the Royal Box at Wimbledon saw him hailed a 'southern gentleman'.
The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in time to see Jannik Sinner lift the trophy on the last day of the championships, as he defeated Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Before the match, the family made quite the entrance as most of the crowd stood up to applaud as they entered Centre Court.

Video footage captured William and Kate, along with their children Princess Charlotte and Prince George, making their way through the crowds. They shook hands with a few other guests in the posh seats, with 55-year-old film star Matthew spotted in the background.

As the royal couple descended the stairs, Matthew could be seen standing up in his seat as a sign of respect, but others around him remained sitting down. The moment caught the attention of fans on X, with one tweeting: 'Matthew McConaughey standing to applaud the Prince and Princess of Wales. What a lovely southern gentleman.'
Another echoed: 'Real class!' while another posted: 'Kate's looking lovely, as she did yesterday as well. And the applause for her is well deserved. People genuinely wish her well, after what she's been through.' A fourth person gave the film star a nod, adding: 'Matthew was raised right. Always something I have admired."

It came as Princess Kate 's private secretary has caused a stir at Wimbledon this year, after joining the Waleses in the royal box over the weekend. Kate made her first 2025 Wimbledon appearance on Saturday for the women's final, before being joined by Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the men's final on Sunday.
Kate, who is the patron of All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, presented the winners and runners-up trophies to the women's finalists, consoling tearful runner-up Amanda Asiminova, as she put her hand on the American player's arm and telling her: 'Keep your head high.'

As the Princess was welcomed to the royal box on Saturday by a chorus of applause, some were distracted from Kate's arrival by her handsome aide. Kate was accompanied by her private secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Tom White, who stole the show during the her highly anticipated arrival.
Fawning over the 36-year-old, who was wearing a double-breasted cream blazer with a shirt and tie, one viewer wrote: "He's a fox!" while another added: "I mean, silver fox." One person said: 'Well he sure is dishy,' while another added: 'Flirt mode is on,' followed by a series of heart-eyes emojis. Another fan candidly wrote: 'Is it a prerequisite for equerrys to be good looking?!'
Lt Col White first joined the Royal Household in 2020 as the late Queen's Squire, where he worked until her death on September 8th 2022. The Colonel was the first commando of the Royal Marines to hold the title. As well as being a royal aide, White is also a talented tennis player who fans say shares an uncanny resemblance to the retired Wimbledon icon, Roger Federer.
On Saturday Kate watched on as Iga Swiatek claimed her first ever Wimbledon title as she wiped the floor with Amanda Anisimova. The Pole claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory on Centre Court - a result that hadn't been seen for 114 years at SW19. She has been a regular at Wimbledon since she married into the Royal Family in 2011 and rarely misses the occasion.

Cancer survivor who shouted 'I love you, Kate' at the Princess of Wales during Wimbledon final reveals he'd had 'too much Pimm's' before his emotional outburst

The man who shouted 'I love you, Kate!' to the Princess of Wales on the day of the Wimbledon final has said the beloved royal is clearly 'authentic' and exudes 'class' and 'kindness'. On July 13, Princess Kate, 43, in her role as patron of the all England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, appeared on Centre Court to present the trophies for the men's singles final. During a spell of quiet, Father Jim Sichko, a Catholic priest from Lexington, Kentucky, US, took the opportunity to express his admiration for the royal when he cried out: 'I love you, Kate!' The mother-of-three burst out laughing, clearly taken aback by the unexpected outburst - but Father Sichko didn't notice Kate's heartwarming reaction until he saw the now-viral footage of the event. Royal fans had already given the Princess a standing ovation when she first appeared earlier that day as a spectator, but her reaction delighted the crowds anew. Father Sichko, who admitted he had 'too much Pimm's', told People: 'Let me tell you, you can tell if someone is authentic and she is authentic. 'What you see is what you get. You can't make up those types of emotions and conversations and exchanges.' The priest added that Kate radiated 'such class, such kindness' when the time came to present the prizes to the winners. The 58-year-old said that when Kate emerged with husband William by her side, he was pleasantly surprised, before other audience members informed him they were watching as a family. Kate brought her two eldest children George, 11, and Charlotte, ten, to watch the final at SW19 from the Royal Box, alongside their father Prince William, 43. Louis, who is only seven, was notably absent, but his parents made sure not to leave him out and asked the men's champion Jannik Sinner to sign an extra tennis ball for the youngster so he wouldn't get 'upset'. Father Sichko noted how Kate stayed 'until the end' of the day, and took her time to greet and speak to all the children on the court. When Kate stepped out to present trophies to winner Jannik Sinner and runner-up Carlos Alcaraz, there was a moment of silence - before Sichko called out. At the time, he didn't know if anyone had heard him, and was not even aware that the royal had reacted. 'Then I was worried, because I didn't hear anything afterwards,' Sichko added, 'and I was like, "Oh my goodness, did anyone hear that? Did it fall on deaf ears?"' Sichko, a priest from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington and a Missionary of Mercy for Pope Leo XIV - then posted to his large social media following to apologise if it was 'inappropriate', saying he had been caught in the moment. A cancer survivor of both kidney and prostate cancer, Sichko expressed his great respect for the Princess who attended the sporting event just six months after she shared she was in remission from cancer. He noted that Kate could have easily ignored him, or even been disdainful, but her reaction was the opposite, and proved what Sichko's 'intuition' told him about the Princess's 'heart' and love for her role. The priest made note of the royal's professionalism and calm demeanour, despite the very public nature of the role, adding that she seemed truly comfortable when conversing with the ball boys and girls. He praised the air of awe and admiration by the crowds directed at Kate, who he feels emanates a much-needed sense of hope in a time of global despair. But Sichko only found out about Kate's joyous response when friends and social media followers began sending him headlines from the event. Of Kate's transparency about her cancer journey, Sichko spoke highly, adding that her story resonates with others because she is open - sending the message that everyone is vulnerable and can be affected. The priest also understands how tiring cancer treatment or surgery can be, he said, adding that he relates to the sense that work must be done, even if you do not feel like doing it.

King Charles will ‘gift Queen Camilla birthday jewellery from late Queen's £533m collection', his former butler says

QUEEN Camilla is celebrating her 78th birthday today and could be given a very lavish gift from King Charles to celebrate. According to his former butler, the royal could be gifted a sparkling new jewellery piece from the late Queen's £533million collection. 4 4 Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles from 2004 to 2011, claims the monarch is likely to give Camilla something dazzling - or something for her dogs. Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, he said: 'The funny thing is that what do you even give to someone in the royal family? Or a Queen? I expect Charles will give her something practical that she wants, a piece of jewellery — or something for her dogs. 'A couple of days after her birthday, it might be that we notice Camilla wearing a different piece of jewellery, which may have been a birthday gift. 'It wouldn't surprise me if she was given something from the late Queen's collection of jewellery. That does happen from time to time.' ROYAL BIRTHDAY PLANS Meanwhile, former royal gardener Jack Stooks has revealed what the celebrations might look like. Speaking on behalf of Prime Casino, Jack said King Charles will likely have a 'private dinner' with his wife to celebrate, alongside her children - and possibly some other family members. He said: 'Camilla will likely celebrate with a 'private dinner' at 'one of the royal residences'. 'With Camilla's birthday, she is quite a home and family orientated person, she does really love having her family round. 'A perfect birthday for her would be having her children and rest of her family around, and her husband. 'If she's in London it will likely be with her husband and they might just have a nice private dinner at one of the royal residences. 'But if she's at Raymill at home, she may have her daughter or son around.' QUEEN'S £533M JEWELLERY BOX King Charles certainly has a vast treasure trove to select from as he inherited around £533million in jewellery pieces, according to Guardian. The publication identified more than 90 pieces that were part of the late Queen's personal collection, including diamonds, emeralds, rubies, amethysts, aquamarines and strings of pearls. The royal family's wills are kept secret, so it can't be known for sure exactly what King Charles inherited after the Queen's death in September 2022. In a deal struck up by the then prime minister John Major, private inheritances from one monarch to another are also immune from inheritance tax. Of course, it's hard to know the full value of each jewellery piece today as the royal and historical connection would likely increase them exponentially. We saw this with the auctioning of jewellery belonging to the late Princess Margaret. Although her pieces were worth much less than the Queen's sparkling collection, they sold for an average of 18 times the auction house's top-end value. Using the theory that the Queen's jewels could fetch at least 10 times their basic value, making up the £533million estimated worth. The late Queen's £50million brooch ONE of the most expensive pieces in the late Queen's collection - which is now expected to belong to King Charles - is the Williamson brooch, which is said to be worth a jaw-dropping £50million. It is shaped like a flower and features what is often regarded as the finest pink diamond ever discovered. It was unearthed in Tanzania (previously known as Tanganyika) in 1947, and the eccentric mine owner John Williamson gave the uncut stone to Queen Elizabeth as a wedding present. She commissioned Cartier to make it into a platinum brooch alongside more than 200 small diamonds, which were also given to her from Williamson. We saw the late monarch wearing the Williamson brooch to a number of events, including the wedding of Charles and Edward. She also wore it when she met with the then US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
