Los Angeles hardcore act Zulu have announced that they have parted ways with frontman Anaiah Muhammad and are going on hiatus following abuse allegations lodged against the singer.
Muhammad was recently accused of abuse by musician Simpson, who wrote on her Instagram account, 'In April of last year we had an encounter that was initially consensual which resulted in me being so traumatized, I was gaslit by him into thinking I was on my period until I was able to visit a healthcare provider after a subsequent encounter where he choked me so hard it left a big bruise near my neck down to part of my collarbone, and I knew after showing it to someone I needed to seek help.'
She continued, 'Knowing something was deeply, deeply wrong, I began sharing my experience and feelings with people who may know of someone else harmed by Anaiah, and I uncovered an extensive, horrifying pattern of abuse I was the latest victim in.'
In response, Muhammad issued the following statement: 'I want to start by saying that I categorically deny ever engaging in any form of physical abuse. Violence towards anyone, especially partners, is completely against my values, and I would never harm anyone.'
He added, 'I want to make it absolutely clear that I have never engaged in any form of coercion, manipulation, or isolation toward this individual. At no point have I ever tried to control her environment, interfere with her personal life, or restrict her in any way.'
After performing without Muhammad in São Paolo, Brazil over the weekend, Zulu have now decided to part ways with the singer, while also taking a break as a band. The hardcore act's lengthy statement reads as follows:
'We are aware of the allegations brought forth against Anaiah. We stand in solidarity with all people who are victims of abuse, and condemn the mistreatment of those vulnerable in our communities. Our hearts go out to anyone who has experienced any form of physical or emotional abuse, assault, or any other act that has caused harm and taken their agency away from them.
Other members of Zulu have separated ourselves from Anaiah and will no longer be working with or performing with him in any capacity.
We want to acknowledge the allegations were never disclosed to us prior, and we were immediately concerned reading the detailed account. We were aware there were unresolved issues between the parties involved, but not the nature of the allegations. In regards to our previous drummer's posts, while he was filling in on tour with us he did not disclose knowledge of these allegations other than what we understood to be issues surrounding their relationship. He ultimately did not play with us because of confusion over scheduling.
We understand that this has been extremely upsetting and disappointing to anyone who supported this band, it's message and what it's represented. Upon our return home we have withdrawn from scheduled performances and will be officially putting this project on pause.'
Zulu have canceled all of their touring plans, including the select dates they were scheduled to support Refused on the legendary Swedish hardcore band's farewell North American tour kicking off later this month.

A former winner of Dancing with the Stars had a strong reaction to the recent Emmy nominations. Season 22 DWTS winner Nyle DiMarco shared a video on his Instagram page showing his real-time reaction to learning the news, and fans loved it. The 2025 nominees for the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on July 15. DiMarco's Apple TV+ project Deaf President Now! received two nominations. One was for the category of Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, and the other was for Outstanding Directing for a Documentary or Nonfiction Program. DiMarco videotaped himself preparing for the live televised nominations. "Dang, it's going to be one LONG 15 minutes," he quipped as he braced himself for the lengthy rundown of nominations. Fifteen minutes later, DiMarco shared, "Wait... they're already done?!" He noted that the full nomination list was online, so he grabbed his laptop and teased, "Ok, LET'S GO THERE." As he realized there was a second nomination, he added, "THAT'S YOUR BOY!!!" The video showed DiMarco pacing around his living room, the open laptop in one hand, as he pumped his fist. Edits Gets Improved Music Discovery, Improved Keyframe Editing and More

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. The updates keep on coming for Meta's video editing app 'Edits,' with the tool getting three new features to help creators customize and maximize their video content. First off, Edits is getting a new royalty-free music discovery option, which will make it easier to find music that you can use (without losing monetization) to accompany your clips. As you can see in this example, the new listing is being added to the existing music discovery element, with creators now able to switch over to the 'Royalty free' tab to select from a listing of tracks that they can use without licensing. Which will save you headaches if you want to promote your posts, as you won't have to re-create them without commercial music. Edits is also adding a new keyframe editing feature for more precise editing. As you can see in these example screens, the updated keyframe editing display will make it easier to apply stickers, text and cutouts with precision, providing more creative options within your process. Edits added keyframe editing last month, which enables you to hone in on more specific elements in video playback. The updated keyframe editing options are being rolled out on iOS only at this stage. And finally, Edits is getting another 10 new voice effects, so you can make yourself sound like a ghost, a robot, and more. Edits also expanded its voice effects back in May as well, with these new options giving you more creative considerations for your video clips. It's been pretty interesting to see how Edits continues to add more features and options, which Meta did pledge to do at launch. Though social apps claim a lot of things when they first release a product, so the fact that Meta has followed through on this, and released weekly feature updates for the app, is significant. Of course, video is the best-performing content type across both Facebook and Instagram, so it makes sense for Meta to encourage more video posting where it can. And definitely, Edits will help in this respect, with a growing array of creative options that can help more people create interesting, engaging video content. These updates are available in the latest version of the Edits app. Recommended Reading Instagram Adds New Views Insights To Guide Creative Performance Sign in to access your portfolio
