Dwarfism scandal at centre of football superstar Lamine Yamal's 18th birthday celebration

Football superstar Lamine Yamal is facing a government investigation after hiring entertainers with dwarfism to perform at his 18th birthday party.
The Barcelona and Spain player spent last weekend celebrating with a glitzy and star-studded event.
The teen is one of the biggest stars on the planet after helping guide Barcelona to secure the La Liga, Copa del Rey & Supercopa de Espana trophies while scoring 21 goals.
He put pen to paper on a new contract that pays him $26.3m per season and keeps him with the Spanish giants until 2031.
The contract also includes a $A1.7b release clause to keep rival clubs at bay from trying to lure him away.
Despite his otherworldly on-field achievements, the youngster now founds himself at the centre of serious backlash following his birthday celebrations.
Footage from the event has begun circulating online appearing to show several people with dwarfism leaving the mafia-themed event.
The scenes have sparked serious concern that they may have been exploited during the celebrations with the ADEE - Spain's Association for People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasia - threatening legal action against the teen star.
'It's unacceptable that in the 21st century, people with dwarfism continue to be used as entertainment at private parties,' ADEE President Carolina Puente said.
'And even more serious when these incidents involve public figures like Lamine Yamal.'
According to a Marca report the celebrations could be subject to an investigation after the Ministry of Social Rights called on the prosecutor's office to look into whether the disability law, which prohibits shows that mock or denigrate people with disabilities, was violated.
'We are concerned that people with money, people with power, believe themselves to be unpunished,' Spain's General Director of Disability Jesús Martín said.
'The law is for everyone, for the humble and the powerful.
'Let the appropriate investigations be opened, and let action be taken based on the conclusions.'
If found to have been in breach of the law, the teenage superstar could face a fine of up to $AUD1.7 million.
Despite the backlash, one of the alleged entertainers with dwarfism has come out in defence of Yamal over the birthday celebrations.
Speaking to Spanish radio station RAC1, one of the entertainers said: 'No one disrespected us, let us work in peace. I don't understand why there's so much hype. We're normal people who do what we want, in an absolutely legal way.
'(ADEE) is humiliating people with dwarfism. For a couple of years now, these people (authorities) have been harming us; they want to ban a job that we like, and in no case have they offered jobs or courses to the affected people. We work as entertainers. Why can't we do it? Because of our physical condition?'
The entertainer, who asked to remain anonymous, said they performed dancing, served drinks, and did magic, with the show lasting an hour.
He also stated that afterwards they joined in on the festivities with the rest of those in attendance before claiming the backlash only exists 'because it was Lamine Yamal's party.'
Further to the dwarfism backlash, a model named Claudia Calvo came forward to claim Yamal paid for 12 women with a 'certain breast size' to attend the bash.
Calvo, who was Miss Teenager Spain back in 2021, claimed she was asked to attend the event but turned it down.
She told Tardear TV that she backed out of the event after allegedly receiving a list of demands about what she could wear and what she had to look like.
'I was asked to attend Lamine Yamal's birthday party. They offered us between $A18,000 - $A35,000 to go, but I don't know what they expected from us. They were asking for blonde women with very specific chest dimensions. We couldn't take our phones,' Calvo said.
Dozens of glamorous women, fellow Barcelona stars and flashy entertainers can all be seen attending the party in images and videos from the event.
Yamal, whose bumper new contract with Barca kicked in as soon as he turned 18, has yet to make any comment.
He has, however, taken to Instagram to share a minute long clip showing the best bits of the party to his 36 million followers.
The video has already racked up over a million likes and shows Yamal donning a white suit and cane and his now iconic bleached blonde hair.
The footy ace also showed off his new $A615,000 necklace featuring the initials 'LY' which was said to be a gift by Dominican rapper El Alfa.
Casino-themed games and a live DJ were played long into the night.
The video ended with Yamal dancing as the numbers one to 18 flashed on the screen - alluding to his age.
Yamal and his Barca teammates kick off their pre-season a week on Sunday, taking on Vissel Kobe in Japan.

Watch the biggest Aussie sports & the best from overseas LIVE on Kayo Sports | New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited time offer. It comes after what appears to be McGregor's nude photographs were allegedly leaked by Azealia Banks earlier today. She alleges the fighter sent her the photos on X unprompted – despite her not following him back. Azealia posted the two nude mirror selfies to her own X following. The rapper claims the messages were sexual harassment, but also said that she sent the boxer nude pictures as well in a sexting-back and-forth since 2016. One image posted by Azelia seemingly shows McGregor's manhood strapped to a dumbbell, captioned 'lifting weights'. She wrote: 'How you gonna send a b**** a some crooked d*** pics then threaten her not to tell. ''Like how are you really going to sexually harass me with the potato farmer d*** then threaten me not to tell????' In a later post, Azealia claimed she had sent McGregor naked pictures as well. In a follow-up post, Azealia wrote: 'No me and Conor McGregor have been sending each other unsolicited nudes since 2016. LOL.' Also this week, McGregor was caught kissing a mystery bikini-clad woman on holiday in Florida. Yesterday, The Sun reported that the former two-division UFC champion – who hasn't fought in nearly four years -cozied up with a dark-haired woman. He then laid down a towel for the woman and wrapped an arm around her shoulders in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. McGregor's fiancee Dee Devlin was not seen in the images, raising fresh questions about the couple's relationship. But Devlin expressed her continued support for her controversial partner in a birthday post showing the pair celebrating together. The couple began dating in 2008, became engaged in 2020 and have four children together. Last year the MMA star was found liable in a civil case that accused him of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room in December 2018. It was alleged that he had choked the claimant, leading to her fearing for her life. He disputes the charges, arguing that they had consensual sex. A second woman accused him of sexual assault following a 2023 incident at an NBA Finals game in Miami. He has faced no criminal charges for this second case.

Ellen DeGeneres backs Rosie O'Donnell after Trump threatened to revoke her US citizenship

Ellen DeGeneres is showing support for Rosie O'Donnell. One day after President Donald Trump threatened to revoke O'Donnell's US citizenship following her move to Ireland earlier this year, DeGeneres – who also reportedly fled the country after Trump was elected president – gave her fellow comedian a public shout out. 'Good for you,' DeGeneres, 67, who reposted Trump's threat and O'Donnell's lengthy response on Instagram. On Saturday, Trump referred to O'Donnell as a 'threat to humanity.' 'Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,' Trump wrote in a post to his social media platform Truth Social. 'She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!' he added. O'Donnell quickly responded to Trump's jab in several posts that she shared on her social media pages. The A League of Their Own star posted a collage of photos centred around a screenshot of Trump's post on Instagram and blasted the politician in the caption. 'The president of the USA has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is – a criminal conman sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself,' she wrote. 'This is why i moved to Ireland – he is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity.' 'I stand in direct opposition [to] all he represents- so do millions of others – u gonna deport all who stand against ur evil tendencies – ur a bad joke who cant form a coherent sentence,' O'Donnell added along with the hashtag 'never trump.' The former talk show host later shared a screenshot of her Instagram post on TikTok, where she slammed Trump in the caption, writing that he was a 'disgrace to all our beautiful country stands for' and a 'danger to our nation.' O'Donnell went on to bash Trump as a 'mentally ill untreated criminal,' claiming that he 'lied to America for a decade' during his time hosting the hit reality TV series 'The Apprentice.' 'Had u grown up in NY – as I did – u would know what a total fool he is. Add me to the list of people who oppose him at every turn -it's now or never America,' she wrote. Representatives for the White House and DeGeneres did not respond to Fox News Digital's immediate request for comment. A representative for O'Donnell told Fox News Digital, 'Rosie is thankful for her support.' Despite Trump's post, O'Donnell's citizenship is unlikely to be in jeopardy. The 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to any person born in the United States and the actress was born in Commack, New York. In addition, many legal experts agree that the government cannot unilaterally revoke the citizenship of a natural-born citizen. One exception is if the government was able to prove that citizenship was obtained through fraud in the case of naturalisation. In addition, citizenship can be revoked if an individual commits certain actions, including treason, serving in a foreign military engaged in hostilities against the US, or renouncing citizenship. O'Donnell confirmed her move to Ireland in March, saying she left the US days before Trump's inauguration, and explained the new location would be a good fit for her 12-year-old son, Clay. DeGeneres, much like O'Donnell, left the country recently to establish a new life with wife Portia de Rossi across the pond. In April, O'Donnell admitted that while she hasn't been in touch with DeGeneres lately, she was 'shocked' to hear why the former talk show host fled the United States. 'I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually,' O'Donnell told Us Weekly. 'I've been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it's just a different way to be in the world.' 'I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving, and I don't think it came as a surprise to anyone. We're not really in each other's worlds, and it's been kind of awkward but you know what? I wish her the best. I wish that she has peace and love in her life and that she is OK.' While they've never had a strong relationship, O'Donnell insisted she harbours no ill will for the comedian. 'I don't want to fight against another gay woman. It's not like we're tenaciously opposed to each other,' O'Donnell told the outlet. 'We're just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do.' She added, 'I think that there's enough room in the world for all of the gay comedians, and we all need to stick together because gay people are the next group to be threatened. And the way they attack trans people is absolutely terrifying.'
