PM Anwar Urges Global Leaders To Halt Gaza Violence
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a global call to conscience, urging world leaders to take immediate and united action to stop the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.
'Malaysia calls on all world leaders to act with urgency. Every government that believes in international law, every nation that claims to value human life, must speak with one voice.
'In this regard, I urge all those with influence over Israel to find the courage to act decisively. I especially appeal to US President Donald Trump to use that influence to press for an immediate end to the killing, stop the indiscriminate bombings, and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need without obstruction,' he said in a statement today.
Anwar described the tragedy unfolding in Gaza as a test of shared humanity, stressing that the blatant disregard for human life and dignity must end, as it violates the most basic moral principles.
'Entire families are being murdered. Children — even babies — have been killed. Others are wasting away from hunger.
'This is the hour for moral leadership. This is the time to uphold the values we claim to defend,' he said.
He said Malaysia stands ready to work with all nations, from North and South, East and West, to bring relief to Gaza and restore the basic principles of humanity.
'Let us not be remembered as those who stood by. Let us be guided by our conscience, to answer suffering with compassion, and to pursue peace for the sake of our humanity,' he added.
Earlier, during the Ministers' Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar said Malaysia's stance on the Gaza issue, as well as matters concerning Palestine and West Asian countries including Iran, will remain unchanged despite the possibility of facing pressure or objections from the US amid ongoing tariff negotiations, which are expected to continue until August.

The officer, with only four years in service, has been handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Selangor and is being investigated under Section 17A of the MACC Act. 'This is someone with 30 years of service ahead. Unfortunately, the lack of a swift mechanism to terminate such officers remains a major challenge,' Shuhaily said. He also noted public misconceptions about disciplinary procedures, with many assuming corrupt officers are simply transferred. However, he said that civil servants are entitled to due process, which takes time.

Opposition urged to use 'PM's Question Time' for checks and balances
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin has called on the opposition to make full use of the Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat every Tuesday if they are genuinely committed to the principle of checks and balances. "Personally, I believe the space allocated in Parliament every Tuesday should be fully utilised. That is the platform where the opposition, if they truly want to uphold checks and balances, should be directing their questions straight to the Prime Minister," he said during the Analisis Madani programme on TV Al-Hijrah. Shamsul Iskandar also called on the opposition to break free from the politics of identity. The PKR leader said the opposition should raise better issues in the "Turun Anwar" rally planned for this Saturday instead of identity-based matters. "We are also trying to overcome the politics of identity, where we see the opposition are more comfortable harping on narrow issues such as race, religion, and other identity-based matters. "That's why, for example, there's going to be a rally on July 26, just days away, purely over the alleged reason that Anwar should be removed from office. "The reason? Supposedly because he doesn't defend the Malays, and so on. To me, we must break free from this narrow perception of identity politics. "As for the rally, this is the first time I've ever heard of a Prime Minister giving instructions to the police to facilitate such a gathering," he said. He called on the opposition to raise broader issues and highlight actual weaknesses in policy that the Prime Minister needs to improve on. "To me, some of the arguments made are extremely shallow. Do Not Politicise, Belittle RM100 SARA Assistance, Great Value For The Poor
BUTTERWORTH, July 24 (Bernama) -- The provision of additional cash assistance of RM100 to Malaysian citizens, aged 18 and above, through the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) programme should not be politicised, but rather seen as a form of concern for the poor. Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri said downplaying the value of the RM100 assistance was like belittling the poor in this country because it had a great impact on the daily lives of the less fortunate. "If he is a rich man, T20, he would indeed look down on RM100, but does he know how many people in this country are in the B40 group…how much RM100 is to them and for rich people, he doesn't understand whether RM100 is a big deal or not. "Do they know how many kilogrammes of rice RM100 can buy, how many chickens it can buy? So, if the (government) initiative is good, we have to say it is good, if it is not good, we have to say it is not good, not to belittle it,' he told reporters after attending the PENN 2.0 Special Fund Financing Briefing and Presentation Ceremony here tonight. Explaining further, Ramanan said all parties should show empathy and understand the reality of the lives of low-income groups, especially in challenging economic conditions. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, yesterday announced several major initiatives as a sign of appreciation from the MADANI Government to the people, including the one-off RM100 grant under the SARA programme, the delay in toll hikes for 10 highways, and the lower RON95 petrol price subsidy at RM1.99 per litre. According to him, the government is now implementing a more comprehensive approach involving various agencies such as the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN), Bank Rakyat, SME Bank and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) specifically to empower Indians. '(It is) increasing the Prosperity Empowerment and A New Normal for Indian Women (PENN) fund from RM50 million to RM100 million, in addition to an additional RM50 million fund for the BRIEF-i programme, the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme (SPUMI) and introducing Vanigham Financing for Indian Entrepreneurs with financing of RM50 million,' he said.
