Chan Kim eagles 4th again, stretches lead to 5 in the ISCO Championship
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Chan Kim eagled the par-4 fourth hole for the second straight day, this time with a 36-yard chip in a 2-under 68 that stretched his lead to five strokes Friday in the ISCO Championship.
On Thursday at Hurstbourne Country Club, Kim holed out from 123 yards on No. 4 and shot a 61 to take a four-shot lead in the opposite-field PGA Tour event also sanctioned by the European tour.
'Obviously, the hole-out on 4 again,' Kim said. 'I don't know what the odds are of doing that, but boy, if I could make four 2s on that hole I'd be very happy.'
Kim also holed a 35-foot birdie chip on the par-4 eighth to get to 11 under — with Kris Ventura (64) and Vince Whaley (67) and Thomas Rosenmueller (69) tied for second at 6 under.
'I think this is a course where you just have to stay patient,' said Kim, the 35-year-old former Arizona State player who was born in South Korea and grew up in Hawaii. "I know I shot 9 under yesterday, but the course is not playing that easy.'
An eight time winner on the Japan Golf Tour, he's chasing his first PGA Tour title.
'Just keep my foot down.' Kim said. 'I know that these guys are so good, somebody's going to catch up. I already know that. The best I can do is handle myself the way I did when I won all those events and that's just to stay patient and play my game.'
The tournament winner will receive a two-year exemption and a PGA Championship spot next year. No one in the field is in the British Open next week. Harry Hall, the winner in a playoff last year at Keene Trace, qualified for the British Open and is playing the Scottish Open.
Kim opened with a birdie on the par-5 10th, then dropped strokes on the par-4 11th, 16th and first holes. He eagled the fourth after hitting a 333-yard drive just short of the green, birdied the the par-5 seventh and holed the chip on No. 8.
'I think it's very important to accept that when you do make a mistake, just accept it and go out there with full confidence and plan your next shot and see what you can do from there,' Kim said.
David Skinns (64), was 5 under with Rico Hoey (67), Zac Blair (66), Kevin Kisner (69), Nick Hardy (68), Callum Tarren (68), Paul Peterson (68) and Beau Hossler (68).
Auburn junior Jackson Koivun was 1 under after a 66. He tied for 11th last week in the John Deere Classic.
Kentucky native J.B. Holmes missed the cut with rounds of 74 and 72. He played on a sponsor exemption.

Katt Williams back in Memphis as part of broadcast team for FedExCup Playoffs event
Comedian Katt Williams will be back in Memphis for the FedEx St. Jude Championship − only this time, he will be part of the PGA Tour Live broadcast team. Williams will serve as an on-course correspondent during the first and second rounds (Aug. 7-8) of the tournament, the first event of the 2025 FedExCup Playoffs, at TPC Southwind. "I'll be walking alongside the world's best players as part of the marquee group coverage live Thursday and Friday morning," the 53-year-old Williams said in a video posted by PGA Tour Live on its social media channels. It won't be the first time Williams has ventured onto the course at TPC Southwind for the event. He was also on hand in 2024, but he kept a somewhat low profile. A three-minute video montage of the popular funnyman providing his insight, analysis and reverence for the game was subsequently published on the PGA Tour's website. "This is why this is the No. 1 sport. It's the sport of gods, but it's played by mortals," the unabashed golf fan remarked at one point. This time around, Williams will be part of the broadcast team, joining ESPN analyst Michael Collins to provide real-time coverage, commentary and, almost certainly, some comedy during the PGA Tour Live stream on ESPN+. The tournament will also air on Peacock. It won't be Williams' first foray into sportscasting. In August 2024, he was part of the PGA Tour Live broadcast team during The Tour Championship. Williams is no stranger to Memphis nor the Mid-South. He routinely performs in the area, most recently in Feburary 2025 at FedExForum as part of his Heaven On Earth tour. At various points, Williams' regular presence in the region has fueled rumors that he actually maintains or maintained a residence of some kind in the Mid-South. Injuries to key players dampen excitement for WNBA's inaugural Rivals Week
NEW YORK (AP) — The WNBA hoped to create some buzz with its inaugural Rivals Week, which is slated to begin on Saturday. Unfortunately, injuries to key players like Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has dampened some of the excitement. The week was set to tip-off with a primetime matchup between Clark's Fever and Reese's Sky on Saturday night. Clark is definitely out while still recovering from a groin strain that's sidelined her already for a few weeks. Reese has missed four of the past five games with a back injury. Collier and Stewart were set for a second meeting between Minnesota and New York on Sunday, but neither will play in the game. Collier is sidelined with a sprained right ankle and Stewart has a bone bruise in her right knee. The two teams played an epic WNBA Finals last season, although both sides have downplayed it being a rivalry just yet. 'It's a rivalry because of what happened in the Finals last year and I think it's good that it has people talking,' Liberty coach Sandy Brondello said. 'We have passionate fans. We have people talking about our league and that's a good thing.' Right now only four games separate second-place New York (18-10) from eighth place Golden State (14-14) with a month left in the season. 'The timing of that week is critical, because in August you start to really make that playoff push,' WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said back when the Rivals Week was announced. 'So it would be great to have those matchups during that period to drive that playoff push into September and crown a champion in October.'
